Out damned spot
Shakespeare's "Macbeth" received an inventive Adult Cinema treatment in this Stuart Canterbury feature for VCA, beautifully shot on 35mm. It's a very interesting example of the big-budgets and international productions being made two decades ago before porn (thanks to the internet) went generic.
Especially rewarding is Kylie Ireland as Lady Macbeth, convincingly evil in manipulating hubby Mike Horner, who delivers most of his Shakespearean monologues in voiceover. The supporting cast is peppered with Euro talent, befitting a movie shot in the environs of Budapest, and the concise sex scenes do not halt the familiar plot, witches and all, adapted from the Bard.
It compares favorably with the European porn films made around this time by Italian filmmakers like Luca Damiano, with cameraman Renato Doria responsible for two of Damiano's classics: Hamlet X and Snow White & 7 Dwarfs.
