Porn stars occasionally are still under contract, but generally the glory days of Wicked Girls and Vivid Girls is long-gone. This all-sex precursor of hundreds of Penthouse videos is merely Wicked's method of padding its release schedule with another Serenity starrer.
Brad Armstrong was just coming into his own as director when he shot this in Summer of 1999. It falls into his all-style, no-story bag, not up there with his narrative achievements.
In what looks like a set for a sci-fi movie, Serenity sits serenely at a futuristic desk punching buttons as she voices over letters to Wicked -as boring a structure as those aforementioned Penthouse Letters and Penthouse Forum DVDs that Kelly Holland was to oversee a decade later. She and other actresses kindly act out the fans' preferences, also anticipating a currently popular device used by Bree Mills for her Lesbian oriented Girlsway label.
The six sex scenes, filled with gals posing and staring at the camera, are stylish enough but utterly empty. Merely sex workers going through the motions, though certainly as intended any Serenity fan will be satisfied. I was happy with the short running time, having become restless of late with Brad's 3-hour junkers that Wicked classifies as "blockbusters".
Anal sex is spotlighted, probably the draw for this video nearly 20 years ago when first released. Pairing Asia Carrera with Serenity per fan's wishes is a no-brainer, while the lesbian threesomer incorporating "legends" has an appropriate Nina Hartley, but featuring Laurel Canyon in the trio is a stretch.
