The entire premise behind the "New" Brady movies has pretty much been run into the ground. Yes, they are clueless. Yes, they are from an age that never actually existed. Yes, we can all see the references to old Brady episodes sprinkled throughout the movie. (Mikes plans in the tube, the broken vase from playing ball in the house, Jan jealous of Marcia, etc., etc.) but it is just not funny the third time around. Mike becomes president because of his insistence of finding out who owns a lottery ticket Bobby found. Hilarity is supposed to ensue when the evil of Washington takes on the blissful naive goodness of the Brady's. It's just one joke though. It is funny a couple of times, but mostly it is the theatrical movies scripts put into a cheap White House set. Nothing new here, except the kids that play the Brady children.

Gary Cole and Shelley Long reprise their roles as Carol and Mike Brady in the "third" installment to the Brady Bunch spoof series.
The first two films, which were theatrically released in the 90s, were pathetic, stupid, seriously overacted, but hilarious. This time around, though, all roles accept for Mike and Carol were recast, and the child actors have little talent.
In this installment, Bobby finds a 67 million dollar winning lottery ticket. The Bradys try to find the owner of this ticket (they apparently don't live by the "finders, keepers" creed), and somehow Mike gets elected as President of the United States. Meanwhile, Greg Brady has fallen for a Whitehouse employee who is working to bring the Brady family down, and Carol becomes vice-president to the horror of Congress.
A downright horrible TV movie that shouldn't have been made. -
I saw this on Netflix, and being a fan of "The Brady Bunch Movie", and "A Very Brady Sequel", and while I didn't have high expectations, I didn't take it too seriously either.
First let's start off with the Bradys, aside from Cary Cole and Shelly Long reprising their roles as Mike and Carol, none of the Bradys look remotely close to the original Brady or the movie Bradys. I honestly thought they got a 4-year old to play Cindy.
Then there's Alice, oh Alice, she seemed more like a cartoon. Then there's Greg, who looks like he had a bad perm and is in competition with Alice in the 'overacter' category.
I remember the strange feelings Greg and Marcia had towards each other in The Brady Sequel, but this movie pushes the envelope, from Greg talking to a girl about her breasts at a drive in movie, or Marcia praying to increase her bust, things the real Bradys would never talk or even *think* about, and yes I could have done without the Greg and Marcia romance scene—I thought we've already gone down that road. It was funnier when someone said something sexual to the Bradys and their innocent mind mistaking it for something else (like Marcia thinking "Ménage à trois" written in her yearbook meant "you're the most") When the presidential portraits started talking to Jan, I thought was just *too* much.
Yes, I did give this movie a chance, and no I didn't like it. It had a couple of "ha" moments, but nothing I could call "laugh out loud". This definitely has the made for TV feel, with plenty of stock footage and even a still of the U-Haul in the Brady's driveway from the first Brady movie.
As a side note, I actually thought it was funnier that the under filming locations it listed only Toronto, Canada. -
NaTaLyA_OzZy29 November 2002As a maybe, 50% fan of the original series The Brady Bunch, when I heard about the first movie parody of the Brady Bunch, I was excited. And the movie was hysterical. I loved it! It was so funny and dead on to what us in the 90's thought of 'the bunch'. "A Very Brady Sequel" which reunited all of the castmembers of the first flick wasn't half bad either. I thought it was real funny. SO when I tuned into this movie, I thought I'd give it a try. BUT IT IS RUBBISH!!!! The first two redid some of the original storylines which made it funny, but this one put the bradys in the whitehouse... uh huh. Also NONE of the kids are played by the same actors. What's the point? This is a piece of garbage and I can not believe money was actually spent MAKING this! I give it a BIG 0/10 and I recommend going out and seeing The Ring in the theatre or renting Frailty from a video store. Don't waste your time or you may end up missing a piece of your brain.

fantasmic197113 June 2004Mike Brady makes it into the office of Presidency because the President elect (just seconds before accepting office) runs out. Literally. There's a little laugh as we're treated to a super-imposed Bush & Clinton in the background, but that's about the best this solid gold pooper has to offer.
It really is sad to see a good film series come to this. I know it happens, just look at what became of the Police Academy series. It's just too bad good money has to be wasted like this. (I mean my 20 dollars buying the thing, because I was thrilled to see another Brady Bunch movie after all this time. What a let down!)
They couldn't even get kids who looked as much like their alter egos as the first two films did. I mean, come on... these new kids were probably related to someone who financed the thing. That's how bad they were.
At least Shelley Long & Gary Cole stayed on board. They're always great. But the rest? Good grief!!
There was also way too much music in this film. It got uncomfortable to watch after a while. A short song is okay, but three?? Come on. We know the Brady's sang... we don't need to be reminded every film!
If the producers have run the well dry... if this is the best they can come up with... cheaply-filmed (it looked like videotape), amateur hour film school garbage, than just hang it up! -

The people involved in this nonsense should hide their heads in shame and disown their names. And whoever financed this bilge I can assure them that their money would have been better spent sending it to me or at least donating it to charity. This movie is so bad it makes Ed Wood films look like 10 star classics. The writers (assuming there were actually any) couldn't have passed a grade 2 film study. We can only hope that all involved are never again allowed to come near a piece of celluloid and that the actors are banished permanently to a Barney movie set forever to repeat over and over again "I love u, u luv me, we're a great big family" - of idiots. Well holy crap man I think we saw a stinker!

fuzzyfacefreak29 November 2002Growing up and watching the original Brady Bunch was fun. The Brady Bunch Movie in 1995 was really funny!! A Very Brady Sequel in 1996 was good, with the best part being a cameo by Barbara Eden! But this TV movie was totally bizarre! Most of the kids looked nothing like the originals...something the two movies managed to accomplish with seemingly no problem. I would rather watch the Simpsons or Seinfeld reruns then to sit through this "movie" and ALL the lame commercials that you avoided by watching the Brady Bunch movies in the theaters!!

I hate this movie with an undying passion. It makes my blood boil. The actors are below sub-par, not to mention none of the original kids are cast, the editing is bad, and the production is all around cheesey. This movie is by FAR worse than Omega Doom or The English Patient. All that basically happens in this movie is Mike Brady becomes the president for being unrealistically honest, and the Bradys experience everything that happens in a "Joe Schmoe Becomes President" movie. Now keep in mind that I love the movies "Kickboxing Academy" and "Bio-Dome". That's how bad this movie is.

nerethel120027 February 2014As I watched the first five minutes, surprisingly the first thing that came to my mind.....was this: Why can I hear the echo of the sound stage? Could the director and sound crew have rectified this issue in post production? Clearly this was overlooked or personal laziness. This movie feels like it was made by a high school film class and acted as such. It is also horribly noticeable that the actors portraying the Mr. and Mrs. Brady roles are cringing behind their own acting skills at having agreed to do this picture. Perhaps it was altogether a rushed half caring production and it horribly shows several years later. As the title of this review states....it's not even a good bad movie. Troll 2 is an Oscar worthy effort in comparison. I did get laughs...but not because of any clever screen writing or acting and it's not even thirty minutes into the film. Maybe I'll get to see a boom make a cameo.

tqkproductions6 February 2014The first two Brady Bunch film were beautiful dumb fun. This film is dumb, dumb, dumb. I don't even know where to begin. First of all, the new Brady Bunch kids plus Alice were terrible at portraying their characters. At least Shelly Long and Gary Cole reprised their roles as Carol and Mike. But the rest are barely trying. Part of the fault lies within the writers for replacing subtle double entendres with blatant straightforward unoriginal dirty jokes, which takes away from the Brady Bunch feel. Another problem is how this film is shot. In the first two Brady Bunch, scenes set in the Brady home were shot just like the show. It was a comedic contrast between the real world and the Brady World. In this film the Brady home scenes are shot exactly the same as the rest of the film. Again, this takes away from the Brady Bunch feel a great deal. I've barely even dug into the plot. Bobby finds a winning lottery ticket and Mike decides to turn it in. The family is honored by the president. Then MIke becomes the president. See what's wrong here? It's nothing like the Brady Bunch. The plots of the first two Brady Bunch films heavily referenced story lines from the original series. They took place mostly within the Brady home. This plot is convoluted and is paced horribly. There's barley even a few scenes set in the Brady home! Most of the humor in the film comes from political jokes which constantly fall flat. There's nothing funny about Marsha not knowing the House of Representatives. Not only that, but the concept of "What if Mike Brady were president?" becomes horribly tired. Meanwhile, Jan's inner voices from the first film came back, only it was acted out flatly and in the most unfunny way. Another call back comes near the end with Marsha & Peter's weird quasi-incestuous relationship. Once again, it's handled with zero subtly and the humor is sucked out of the situation. Peter also becomes slightly more crude. He makes references to stuffing a sock in his pants and he talks about boobs a lot. That's not Brady behavior at all! None of the Brady kids act like Brady kids. The writers probably have never seen an episode of the Brady Bunch in their lives. The main focus of this film is Mike and Carol, with very little focus on the kids. While this was probably for the best because, like I said, the Brady kids are terrible, the film overall felt like a huge bore. The first two films had the perfect amount of cheesy humor, subtle jokes, and clever references. The Brady Bunch in the White House is as blunt as dull kitchen knife. It's an dark spot on an otherwise wonderful film series.

SillyGayBoy14 March 2016I had heard about this movie before seeing it. I was aware all of 6 kids were recasted, I was not aware that Alice also was. The two parents remain the same and that is all.
It really is a sequel to "a very brady sequel" and we have to just go along with the recasts. The last film they were looking like college students in high school, so I didn't mind. The recasts do the job well and I forgot about it quickly. Some of the run on jokes are still there and it is clearly a sequel. The new people do the job well, I actually found the little girl a lot funnier this time around.
In fact there was one joke with her that made me laugh my butt off, way harder then I had in the previous 2 movies actually. I won't spoil it, but it has something to do with trophies. I wonder if anyone else finds it as funny as I do.
I had expected to hate this movie with everything said about it. To my surprise, I loved it. I even would call it my favorite of the 3. It was funny and entertaining. It also fixed something which had bugged me about the other films. It gave balance to the main characters better. A disproportionate amount of time was going to the oldest boy Greg and the oldest and middle girls Marcia and Jan in the last films. The other 3 were mostly ignored or just background.
Anyway don't listen to what everyone else says about this movie. Try it for yourself. I got it as a 4 pack cheap at Walmart and was glad I enjoyed it so much. The 4th film was Growing Up Brady. -
jpgarbiso16 December 2005If you feel nostalgic when you remember The Brady Bunch, this tender fraternal comedy is your best choice to see them again, and this time, at the top of it all. You will love to see Mike and Carol Brady as President and V.P. giving the White House a warm comfortable atmosphere it could have!
Here in this movie we can see Jan in trouble with her internal voice once again, just like Marcia and her perfect life (there's even a parallel story about Marcia's trouble with her main enemy, a girl named Kim, and Marcia is always thinking about a possible revenge), and obviously, Gregory and his groove style, always looking for girls, but in an innocent manner (I think that's cute, but unfortunately he falls in love with the Brady's worst betrayer's assistant, Veronica, and he even writes a song for her)... As you could expect, in the end he's interested in Marcia again, but nothing happens, of course. It's really nice to see Carol and Alice turning the White House into a real family house, and it is really cute to see Carol presiding the Senate as if she was a kind of mother.
If you love the Bradys, you will love this film for sure! -
This third move based on The Brady Bunch TV seems to have fallen off the radar spectacularly, which isn't surprising if you have seen it. It's an ultra cheap, poorly written quickie that fails to live up to the first two films in any way at all. Here, the Brady family become America's first family when Mike is elected president.
That plot aside, the most shocking thing is that apart from Gary Cole and Shelly Long reprising their roles as the parents, all the rest of the main cast (the six children and Alice) are now played by different actors. This means that the whole movie looks like an imposter, with 80% the original characters replaced but still trying to maintain the illusion that we are actually watching the same Brady family. The actors playing the six children seem to be making a brave stab at things, but its very obvious that rather then caricaturing the original TV show cast, they are trying to mimic the cast who were doing the caricatures in the first two Brady Bunch movies.
Most of the children are forgettable, but the biggest loss is not having Jennifer Elise Cox as Jan Brady, which was originally a demented re-working of the TV character, but here, the actress playing Jan simply mimics all the mannerisms of Jennifer's performance rather than playing Jan Brady at all. I would presume that the script is to blame here as she has all the same types of lines and is (presumably) told to grimace, pout, and walk with her hair swinging from side to side just as the character did in the other movies. Equally jarring is the replacement actress who plays Alice, who seem to contort her face wildly and jerk about like a robot in an attempt to become a doppelganger of Henriette Mantel's version. Marcia just seems annoying rather than foxy, Greg is like someone wearing a fancy-dress costume of Greg, and Cindy is totally unrecognisable. The only pair that come off unscathed are Bobby and Peter, and that's because, well, nobody is interested in Bobby and Peter! Even Shelley Long and Gary Cole seem to sleepwalk through their scripts. Shelly Long in particular seems to have lost any warmth she had, and the script gives neither of them any decent lines or jokes to work with.
The threadbare plot hardly seems to matter when you're watching such a creepy cast of bodysnatchers trying to resurrect an originally funny franchise. No wonder it sank without a trace. I would advise you not to spend money on this one, and only watch if you have a morbid curiosity. -
gut-628 November 2003Of all the films I have seen, songs I have heard and books I read, this is without doubt the one piece of art that people will continue to appreciate with awed reverence 500 years from now. It totally changed my life. When I saw it, I felt that I had been born on this Earth to be at this particular place and this particular time to experience this incredible feat of human artistic excellence. I am absolutely convinced that it will make stars out of every single actor associated with this film, and will one day win the Nobel Prize for Literature for its scriptwriters. While the Brady Bunch is a milestone of Western Civilisation, and the Whitehouse one of its greatest architectural monuments, no mere mortal would have ever thought to put them together. But the producers of this movie are clearly no mere mortals. The staggering genius on display here simply takes the breath away. The words simply do not exist to describe this film. Watching it, I clearly felt the presence of the Lord. If Leonardo da Vinci were alive today and had a movie camera, I have no doubt he would be making films like this, as well as pornos. Look upon this work, ye mighty, and despair.

the_downeys31 July 2005I got through the whole thing -- barely -- so I can't give it a 1 or 2. Rating it 4 is generous based on some pretty good performances. Gary Cole and Shelly Long are perfectly cast. The kids in this film do a pretty good job, but it seems more difficult to reprise the kids' roles. There are long setups for lame jokes that really detract from this movie. The writing is really what suffered here. I also gave this movie points because it is a poof, not a straight treatment. Producing spoofs of the Bradys is the only way to go. Any Brady treatment that tries to remain true to the original (such as the awful TV reunion) is doomed.

Rob-27629 November 2002The storyline was absurd, as was the wardrobe, but a few of Alice's scenes kept it semi-watchable for me. Some minor spoilers may follow here. The story was your run of the mill Brady ordeal, but it got out of hand once Carol was chosen by Mike to be Vice President, which is of course illegal. The first lady, or man, cannot be the second in command. Putting that aside, the bits with the kids were lame. Although Jan's insanity was entertaining. The rest of them were bland. It was interesting though when Greg asked Marcia how she would feel if the two of them had to jumpstart the human civilization and then she lunged to kiss him. Disturbing stuff there. The end of the movie was rushed and had almost nothing to do with the plot leading up to it. Alice was the highlight of the show though. I suggest she lead in the next Brady movie.

The Brady Bunch in the White House was a pretty good movie, much better than I expected it to be. There were no appearances by any of the original cast or crew, although the script was written by Lloyd Schwartz and Hope Juber (Sherwood Schwartz's son and daughter both of whom worked on or appeared on the original Brady Bunch TV series). I enjoyed the film as the casting was (in my opinion) better than in the first 2 Brady feature films where I think they cast the actors too old (e.g. Marcia in The Brady Bunch movie was played by a 25 year old.) The storyline was a bit far fetched with Mike becoming president of the United States, and Carol being both the Vice President and First Lady and the family moving into the white house. Peter played ball in the house and broke a priceless mink vase which starts leaking right in the middle of a state dinner :p The character of Jan is like in the 2 previous movies, making a bit of a mockery of her and her inner voices which I don't like as that only happened in one episode. I enjoyed all the references to old episodes made in the film. There were several musical numbers, some on a patriotic sort of line but also the well known songs Time to Change and the theme song were done by the new cast. There was only one part where there was an attraction between Greg and Marcia and only when they were in the underground safe zone cos they thought a metiorite was going to hit the earth and they would have to start a new civilisation ;)... Yeah so all in all I very much enjoyed the movie, at first it was difficult to adjust to the new faces for the kids and Alice (this Alice is tooo skinny :p) but Mike and Carol are the same and just as good as ever. This movie was released on DVD and VHS in Australia on the 23rd of May and was on US TV in November of 2002.

It was a lot more made fun of than the one made in '95 . . . especially when Peter tells everybody what he'll buy them with the lottery ticket. (Cindy - speech therapist, Jan - new glasses, braces, etc.) What I didn't like is how Cindy was so little when she's supposed to be the same age as Bobby, and Peter was supposed to be the same age as Jan. They could have at least did that! Don't go out of your way to see this movie, but if it's on, check it out!

I thought they were the best of the bunch for these parts considering that Christina Taylor, Elise Cox and Olivia Hack are too old for these parts right now.
This movie is BAD, but I still find it quite charming. I've been a Brady Bunch fan for as long as I remember and I'm an even bigger fan of the two theatrical features that parody the show. The movie's title "The Brady Bunch in the White House" pretty much screams, ...ummm... well it screams something, what it is, I don't know, but it's pretty obvious that this made for TV movie wasn't trying to take itself too seriously.
I did notice that the strengths of the first two theatrical features were in the way that the world treated the Bradys' wholesomeness. As long as the world outside of their house was as real as our own, the gimmick worked. It worked effectively in the first two movies, but in this one it suffers a bit because it seems that the world in this feature is just as kooky. Not wholesome or 70s groovy, just strange. This doesn't work in favor of the movie and it suffers because now all the Bradys have to work against is cartoon villains and strange sexual innuendo that doesn't gel as well this time around. Also, I never really liked how the movies portrayed Jan. I don't think she's at all like how the Jan I remember. Alice in the previous movies was a pretty good character and the actress brought new life to her. The Alice in this movie however doesn't look a thing like Alice. She does bring in enough energy though to sustain the illusion of Alice, but she physically doesn't look like an Alice. The script is pretty bad as well. It was obviously rushed.
I still find it a cute addition to the Brady Bunch franchise and worth at least a watch. It's not that bad, I mean, it's not Gigli. -
Wizard-829 September 2010I didn't care for the first "Brady Bunch" movie, but I enjoyed the second one because it savaged the Brady mentality more. When I heard the premise for this third movie, I thought it was a great premise. The square Bradys in a high position of power? It's ripe for humor.
Unfortunately, I found most of the actual execution disappointing. First of all, the productions are inconsistent. Since this entry was made for TV, the budget was obviously slashed, and as a result much of the movie has a cheap feeling.
The second was the acting. I admit that Canadian actor Saul Rubinek was amusing, and Shelley Long and Gary Cole (reprising their roles) give it their best as always, but I didn't care for the new actors cast in the Brady children roles. They seemed to just be reading their lines instead of really making real characters.
But what's really disappointing about this movie is the writing. There is very little story after the Bradys get to the White House, just a bunch of vignettes with little to no relation to each other. And there is surprisingly less footage that you'd think of Mike and Carol Brady actually doing the duties of president/vice president. And what little footage there is is unimaginative. What if Mike Brady hosted Middle East peace talks? What if Carol Brady was interviewed by a political commentator like Rush Limbaugh? Nothing like those two examples ever happens here, despite the opportunities for humor being endless.
Even if you're a fan of "The Brady Bunch", chances are you'll find little to laugh about here. -
treeline120 November 2012This movie is an insult to BB fans. It lacks the charm and wit of the first BB movie. Nothing is funny. Since the action takes place in the White House instead of the Brady House, nothing makes sense and politics isn't funny. Long and Cole are too old for their parts (and they barely phone in their performances) and none of the kids or Alice look like their series counterparts.
It's hard to believe Sherwood Schwartz was associated with this terrible movie. The writing is boring, the musical numbers are torture to sit through, and I hated everything about it. If you're a Brady Bunch fan, skip this movie. -
tryberg1 December 2002Yes, this movie was "lame" and a great disappointment. I didn't watch it "live" so I was able to edit out the commercials. It doesn't make it any better.
A lot has been said about the fact that the kid actors were all recast, but I feel the need to remind everybody that the first Brady Bunch movie was made in 1995 -- seven years ago -- and all of those actors were MUCH older than their characters THEN. Now they'd just be laughable (and not in a good way).
People are all abuz about Greg and Marcia talking about repopulating the world (the line "we're not REALLY brother and sister" was in the preview so I'm not saying much there). I will simply remind the readers that A Very Brady Sequel took things MUCH further, with Greg and Marcia sharing the attic room, checking eachother out (both at the pool and behind the sheet separating their beds) and a full fleged on the mouth KIS at the end.
SPOILER'S AHEAD:
Safety Monitor Bobby Brady finds a lottery ticket when he rescues a little girl's cat from an abandoned building (sound familliar?). Bobby and the other kids want to keep it, but Mike will hear nothing of it. After numerous attempts to find the owner of the ticket by asking people to tell what they wrote on the back of it (it was a 1-900 number), they decide to cash it in and donate the money to a home for homeless architects.
The President of the United States recognizes this in a White House press conference. At the same press conference it is anounced that the Vice President has resigned in discrace (or is it he isn't running again because of a scandal? something like that). The President tells everyone that he has a committee searching for a candidate and makes a comment about "not everybody's like Mike Brady" and someone suggests that he ask Mike. It seems popular so he runs with it.
He is overwhelmingly re-elected because of massive turnouts of people who won't let the 70's die vote for him. In one of his campaign statements the President denies all knowlege of some corrupt oil dirller or some such thing. Just as he is about to be sworn in, someone shows him a picture of himself at the drilling site and he promptly walks off. Someone shows the same picture to the Cheif Justice of the Supreme Court who understands and swears Mike in as President.
The family returns home, packs things up and moves into the white house. The next half hour is full of jibes at the cluelessness of the Bradys (especially Jan, who has taken to talking to a picture of Abe Lincoln) as they settle into life in the White House.
Anyway, after settling in, Mike's first order of business is to select a Vice President (Contrary to what another reviewer said, this IS legal. A sitting president selects a replacement as long as the Senate approves it. This is established by the Richard Nixon/Spero Agnew/Gerrold Ford fiasco). There is no law against the First Lady being Vice President. The Senate is reluctant to accept this. but ends up doing so. They later regert it when, while presiding over the Senate, she makes two of them have a time out because thery are arguing.
There are several more entertaining scenes where Bobby breaks a priceless vase and the other kids all cover for him (and suffer for it) because he really wants to go to "Camp David." (Sound familliar?)
Soon enough it becomes apparent that the Speaker of the House and a white house staffer are in kahoots to gain power. Angry that the speaker was not chosen to be Vice President they plot to unseat Mike. They switch Bobby's homework with some important documents from NASA and trick Mike into anouncing that a huge asteroud is going to crash into the planet killing everyone.
He then talks the Bradys into hiding in the White House Bunker because it will give comfort to the American People to know that the First Family. While hiding we have the now infamous conversation where Greg and Marcia talk about repopulating the world (the Incest Taboo).
Cindy tattles that she saw the speaker switch the papers and the family breaks out of the bunker (which was locked behind them) just in time to tell the press what the Speaker has done and he is arrested by the Secret Service.

ajlral23 May 2003I would like to know why the producers, screen writers, casting directors or who EVER put this piece of junk together made the movie without all the original cast members?? I am a sentimental schmuck who loved the TV series and loved the first 2 movies. At least in the first two movies the kids LOOKED like the kids from the series.. Sadly in this one they don't.. And even though I knew that, I thought I would give this movie a go just to see if they made up for it in the writing etc.. I should have saved my money.. The writing was poor and nothing of the TV series' quirkiness made it into this movie at all. The only way you could tell it was based on the show was the title of the movie!! For those who haven't seen it... I recommend you don't bother..
