  • As much as I enjoy Hong Kong cinema, then it was really difficult to find any actual enjoyment in this 2001 movie. In fact, "Ultimatum" (aka "Chui hau tung dip") is a rather boring movie.

The Hong Kong police is working with a mainland Chinese police officer in order to solve triad related murders. But as the case comes closer to being solved, secrets are revealed and a game of assassins is unraveled.

Right, well, the storyline was a bit too much of a jungle of seemingly random incidents that didn't have much continuity or appeal to the audience. And the story wasn't helped along in any way by the questionable acting portrayed in the movie.

The action sequences were adequate, but not noteworthy or impressive by any means. And these alone managed to keep the movie somewhat afloat and prevented it from being an ultimate stinker.

If you enjoy Hong Kong cinema, do yourself a favor and actually skip on this 2001 movie. You are much better off with almost anything else. For a Hong Kong action movie, "Ultimatum" was well below the standards.
