  • ...is a wonderful Monsieur Jourdain.Filmed on location in the country in a desirable mansion, this is one of the best adaptation of Molière's famous play for the television.First broadcast the 1st January of 1969 ,it was a royal gift.Supporting cast includes Rosy Varte as a colorful Madame Jourdain,Daniel Ceccaldi as Dorante the noble always short of the readies who treats his good friend Jourdain as a cash cow,Michel Creton as Covielle, the smart servant and more. This is a lavish production the highlight of which is the famous Turkish Ceremony (of which Lully wrote the music) which makes Monsieur Jourdain a "Mammamouchi".

Better than Roger Coggio's version made for the movie theaters in the early eighties.
