Soul, Luca and Turning Red have all largely been buried on Disney+, but why? As always, we’ve had some thoughts.
Pixar has long been at the forefront of American mainstream animation. The studio ushered in the era of CG animation with its debut feature Toy Story, intelligently explored darker themes of loss in Up, and helped all of us make sense of the messy emotions in our heads with Inside Out. Not to mention, its trophy cabinet must be buckling under the weight of all of its awards.
Of course, not all of its films have been hits. Lightyear, a Toy Story spin-off, missed the mark, and the Cars franchise remains, well, ordinary. Still, Pixar has always been at its best when focusing on original films, and at a point where blockbusters were dominated by sequels and franchises, Pixar was putting often breathtakingly original movies through the Hollywood system.

We love a good celebrity cameo, especially when it comes with one adorable yet a tad bit dysfunctional family. When Kevin Hart paid a visit to the set of Modern Family, we knew that it was going to be a good episode and the show really didn’t disappoint. The actor/comedian played the guest role of Andre, the Dunphys’ neighbor. Andre had been living in the same neighborhood as Phil and the clan for nearly a decade but they somehow never crossed paths.

When their friendship blossomed, Andre gave Phil the confidence he was doing just fine without. What resulted was a series of hilarious and wholesome moments that once again proved why Modern Family is a staple in the television industry.

“There it is,” says Computer Conor, finding the advert for his modest computer-art service in the latest issue of Personal Computing while his dog, Sandy, snuffles on the sofa. Though the aesthetic of Obex — Albert Birney’s follow-up to the pastel-hued Strawberry Mansion (2021) — is grainy ’70s Eraserhead monochrome, appearances can be deceiving. The year is 1987, with Reagan in the White House and Madonna in the charts, but Conor (played by Birney himself) is unaware. A virtual shut-in, he sees life through a screen, even sending his neighbor Mary to do his grocery shopping.
Flipping through the magazine, an advert for a new computer game catches his eye; illustrated with a gothic castle, a satanic goat’s head and human brain, it promises a breakthrough in interactive gaming: “Can you make it to the end of the maze and defeat the demon Ixaroth before he eats your mortal soul?” To take part,...

Spoiler Alert: This story contains plot points from the first three episodes of Paradise on Hulu.
After dropping the first episode of Paradise on Sunday, Hulu has made episodes 2 and 3 of the thriller available to audiences that should have provided a bit more context to that mysterious twist at the end of the pilot.
Here, creator Dan Fogelman talks about what inspired him to write the thriller starring Sterling K. Brown, James Marsden and Julianne Nicholson and why we had to wait until the premiere to finally learn what he’s been working on since wrapping his NBC drama This Is Us in 2022.
Deadline: Before we get into Paradise, I want to start at the moment after This is Us. Did you wonder if you developed a reputation as a creator of triple-hanky family dramas?
Dan Fogelman: I was pretty exhausted. It had been a long six years of making a lot of television.

Famously, actor Paul Newman once joked that the epitaph on his tombstone would read: “Here lies Paul Newman, who died a failure because his eyes turned brown.” That wasn’t something that actually happened — Newman’s iconic blue eyes stayed the same vibrant color for his entire life — but you could see why that possibility was something the Hollywood star thought much about. Newman didn’t entirely owe his success to his eyes — many of his most acclaimed projects were in black-and-white, from the harsh gambling drama “The Hustler” to the modern Western “Hud.”
But a lot of his movies were in color, and it’s fair to say that those piercing baby blues were an essential component of his star image. In his breakout role in lurid melodrama “Cat on a Hot Tin Roof,” they conveyed youthful arrogance and vulnerability; in his mid-career turns in films like “Cool Hand Luke...

The writer and producer Dan Fogelman has a CV that spans genres, from a script credit on Pixar’s 2006 movie “Cars” to creating the musical fantasy series “Galavant.” But Fogelman is best known for “This Is Us,” the NBC hit that spent six seasons applying a twisty structure to a sentimental family drama. This unorthodox formula won a large and loyal audience, but to this critic, it was always a mismatch — hiding pertinent information in the name of cheap surprise.
With his latest series, the Hulu thriller “Paradise,” Fogelman pivots to a register where Omg-inducing water cooler moments feel much more at home. “Paradise” still retains elements of the “This Is Us” ethos, beginning with star Sterling K. Brown. After breaking out as adult adoptee Randall Pearson, Brown now plays Xavier Collins, a Secret Service agent plunged into a world of secrets and conspiracy after the murder of President Cal...

Plot: Set in a serene community inhabited by some of the world’s most prominent individuals. But this tranquility explodes when a shocking murder occurs, and a high-stakes investigation unfolds.
Review: You are not prepared for Paradise. Sure, the trailers make it out to be a somewhat run-of-the-mill political thriller about the murder of the President of the United States and his most trusted protector, who may be involved in a massive conspiracy. Still, it is so much more than that. Built as a serial drama with a fantastic ensemble cast, Paradise draws structurally from series like Lost and Yellowjackets by combining a contemporary timeline with flashbacks that fill in the gaps of how the characters got to where they are today but also manages to upend the conventions of what we expect from a series like this. Having seen the entire series (except for the finale), I have a lot of thoughts about Paradise,...

In a remarkable career spanning over 60 years, Kurt Russell has just about done it all. He's been a Disney child star, an action hero, a serious dramatic actor, an unabashedly silly comedic lead, and Elvis Presley. Though Russell was never a box office titan on par with contemporaries like Sylvester Stallone, Arnold Schwarzenegger, and Bruce Willis, he is worshipped as a god by genre fandom for having played such iconic s***kickers as Snake Plissken in "Escape from New York," R.J. MacReady in "The Thing" and Jack Burton in "Big Trouble in Little China." Those last two were flops theatrically, but they've gone from being cult favorites to bona-fide mainstream classics. As a result, Russell, at the age of 73, might be more beloved now than he's ever been.
For Russell fanatics, there's a lively discussion to be had over what his best performance outside of that aforementioned holy trinity of John Carpenter movies might be.

While she started her acting stint with some commercials and theatre, it was the movie Titanic which catapulted her into the main league. This has also resulted in her astounding bankability.

She got her first major break with the 1994 film Heavenly Creatures. She was then seen in the film Sense And Sensibility which proved to be a success. However, it was her performance as Rose in the film Titanic opposite Leonardo Dicaprio which was a true game changer for her.

Whitney Cummings lit up CNN New Year’s Eve Live special with her fiery jokes that included a reference to Anderson Cooper’s former co-host, Kathy Griffin.
Cummings made an appearance on the CNN special and immediately got into taunting Cooper and Andy Cohen.
“Was that thunder?” Cummings asked the co-hosts as she took the stage in Times Square amid a rainy night.
Cummings continued, “Are you sure? I thought it was Kathy Griffin screaming at you from the street? Are you sure? I think she’s cursing.”
Cooper reacted, adding, “Well, no doubt.”

Cars 3 is the lowest-grossing entry in the series, but there is one big reason to love it. The movie fell short of any anticipated audience reception by confirming Lightning McQueen's retirement to introduce Cruz Ramirez. Yet, Cars 3 arguably has the strongest plot of all three Cars movies from Pixar. The final installment is an exceptional conclusion to the trilogy and an apt end to McQueen's character growth. Cars 2’s weaker narrative highlighted the difficulty of bringing the franchise to a satisfying conclusion in Cars 3.
The last chapter remains loyal to the roots of the Cars franchise and focuses on the rapidly changing racing industry and its indifference to the racing car — who is determined to retire on his own terms. The movie also has some remarkable visuals with a greater depth than its counterparts, which is one of the things that sets Cars 3 apart from the other two films.

Hayao Miyazaki is a man who tells things as they are. He does not sugarcoat his words and has often criticized the anime industry at large. The talented director has produced many acclaimed anime movies. Two of them, Spirited Away and The Boy and the Heron have also won the Academy Awards for Best Animated Feature.
Miyazaki is close friends with John Lasseter, the director of Toy Story, Cars, A Bugs Life, and other Pixar films. He was deeply moved by Miyazaki’s works and went on to serve as the executive producer for Ghibli movies and oversaw their translation and English dubbing, including that of Spirited Away.

2025 will mark the 20th anniversary of some old animated favorites, and it's hard to believe certain movies have been around for so long. Looking back at the best animated movies from 20 years ago is also a good way to rediscover some forgotten classics. The 2000s saw plenty of straight-to-dvd movies, or movies based on popular children's TV shows that were huge at the time but don't get talked about much these days.
2005 was an interesting year for feature-length animated movies. After releasing Finding Nemo and The Incredibles in back-to-back years, Pixar took a year off before releasing Cars in 2006. Other studios battled it out to claim the throne, with DreamWorks and Aardman Animations both producing classics. Disney also produced its first fully computer-generated movie, finally catching up to the competition and ushering in a new era.

Cars 2 is among the worst critically-regarded Pixar movies ever, and it broke one of the studio's most impressive streaks upon release. It was no surprise that a sequel was made after the success of Cars in 2006. Five years later, Cars 2 was released to a wall of negative reviews from critics and fans alike. The movie scored 39% on Rotten Tomatoes and earned an IMDb score of 6.2/10. Not every Pixar movie can be an overwhelming critical success, but Cars 2 was particularly troubling for what it didn't do after its release.
Pixar movies have been memorable for the stories they tell and the awards they take home afterward. Ever since Toy Story in 1995, the majority of movies Pixar released have found critical success. Unlike most Pixar films though, Cars 2 did not earn any impressive accolades and even missed out on a typical honor bestowed by films from the company.

Pixar continues bringing a variety of animated stories almost every year and is focusing on sequels again. Among them now is Cars, but this isnt the Pixar franchise that needs a sequel. Pixar is still one of the most important studios in the world of animation, and it continues to consistently release at least one movie every year. Pixar has explored all types of fantasy worlds in its movies, such as one where toys come to life and one where monsters exist parallel to the human world, and it has also explored other cultures, as it did in Coco and Luca.
Although Pixar has mostly focused on original stories, it has also granted sequels to some of its most popular movies. Toy Story is Pixars biggest franchise, but there are also the worlds of Cars, Monsters, Inc., Finding Nemo, The Incredibles, and Inside Out. Although Pixar had already teased reboots...

Inside Out 2 has become one of 2024s biggest successes, and its now proving why Pixar is reversing its stance on sequels. As its now a tradition for the studio, Pixar keeps releasing at least one movie per year, and 2024 saw the long-awaited release of Inside Out 2. Directed by Kelsey Mann, Inside Out 2 reunited the audience with Riley Andersen (voiced by Kensington Tallman), now a 13-year-old, and the emotions in charge of everything at the Headquarters in her head: Joy (Amy Poehler), Sadness (Phyllis Smith), Disgust (Liza Lapira), Fear (Tony Hale), and Anger (Lewis Black).
Inside Out 2 follows Riley as she enters puberty and attends a weekend hockey camp with her best friends, who tell her they wont be attending the same high school. To make it more complicated for Riley, a group of new emotions arrive at the Headquarters: Anxiety, Envy, Ennui, and Embarrassment. Anxiety takes over,...

Spirited Away took the world by storm with its theatrical release and won Best Animated Feature at the 2003 Academy Awards. However, before the global acclaim and accolades, Spirited Away wasn’t always easy to bring to American audiences and it certainly wasn’t straightforward. A lot of hard work and advocacy came from American partners of Hayao Miyazaki.
One of them was John Lasseter, the former Chief Creative Officer of Pixar, who played a huge part in convincing Walt Disney Pictures to buy the rights and took personal responsibility for the English dub.

According to Hayao Miyazaki, the creative office had heavily advocated for Spirited Away to come to an American audience. The act obviously paid off as Spirited Away became the first hand-drawn, Japanese anime and non-English-language animated film. The two became admirers of each other through this partnership.

Plot: After his younger second wife leaves him and enters a 90-day rehab program, Los Angeles art dealer Andy Goodrich seeks out his adult pregnant daughter Grace for help with raising his nine-year-old twins.
Review: I love Michael Keaton movies. In the 1980s and 1990s, Keaton was the ubiquitous leading man in everything from comedies and dramas to his game-changing turn in Tim Burton’s Batman. In the early 2000s, Keaton’s roles dried up a bit, aside from voice roles in the Cars and Toy Story franchises. After his awards-worthy role in 2014’s Birdman, Keaton had a resurgence with acclaimed films like The Founder, Spotlight, and The Trial of the Chicago 7 to a very different comic book character in Spider-Man: Homecoming. Dan Fogelman is adding another Hulu series to his portfolio, this one set in the high-stakes world in the NFL.
Hulu has given a series pickup to the untitled project, which is from 20th Television and Skydance Sports. Details are sparse, though it is said to involve a generational family dynamic, in addition to its setting in the NFL.
Skydance Sports, it is worth noting, is a joint venture between David Ellison’s Skydance and the NFL. The league is notoriously careful about its brand, but told The Hollywood Reporter last year that it wants to develop more scripted fare via the Skydance Jv.
Fogelman is serving as writer and executive producer alongside Jess Rosenthal with David Ellison, Jesse Sisgold, and Jason T. Reed serving as EPs for Skydance Sports.

Although the 1994 blockbuster Speed was filled with meticulously planned stunts, one scene felt a little too real for its stars.
Marking the Jan de Bont action flick’s 30th anniversary, Keanu Reeves and Sandra Bullock reunited with the director on Tuesday at Beyond Fest, where the actors recalled being “a little under-informed” about where the bus was steering.
“Don’t you remember that day on the bus, though?” Reeves asked, according to IndieWire. “When we were crashing through all the cars on the street? I remember we were a little under-informed. We were all on the bus and then we were driving down by San Diego or something. We were set by the ocean, and all of a sudden, we’re actually hitting cars. Boom! Boom! While he may have survived decades of undead hordes in the Evil Dead franchise, horror legend Bruce Campbell reveals which Disney franchise he wishes he could have spent more time in before his character met its end. The actor is well-known for his role as the unlikely hero Ash Williams in frequent collaborator Sam Raimi's Evil Dead franchise. Despite his horror career, however, Campbell has made several appearances in more family-friendly affairs, from voicing characters in animated features to brief but memorable cameos in some of the most well-known superhero movies of the 2000s.
As Campbell is known for his many one-liners, Variety sat down with the actor to question whether he could pinpoint which lines came from each specific entry in his filmography in their latest YouTube video. With his third quote, Campbell was initially confused by which of his many quip-heavy characters uttered the line, only to...

The much-anticipated sequel Inside Out 2 (2024) is the latest Pixar movie to feature a litany of fun Easter eggs and hidden Pixar references. Nine years after the original Inside Out (2015) delighted audiences of all ages, Inside Out 2 expanded the roster of entities that control the mind of now-13-year-old Riley Andersen by introducing five new Emotions. As was the case with its predecessor, Inside Out 2 has generated a high Rotten Tomatoes score, which was sorely needed after the last few Pixar movies fell short of the production company's lofty standards.
Pixar Animation Studios has crafted a tradition of loading their movies with Easter eggs and references to both past and future Pixar films, along with other relevant pop culture nods. The new sequel is no different, as by the end of Inside Out 2, eagle-eyed viewers can catch more than 20 different Easter eggs, some more obvious than others.

On Aug. 10, some 12,000 of The Walt Disney Co.’s most ardent fans gathered in Anaheim’s Honda Center waiting with bated breath. The entertainment giant was in the middle of its biennial D23 conference, and Saturday night was the flagship event for Disney’s Experiences division, where chairman Josh D’Amaro would lay out the company’s long-term plans.
What followed was part concert, part panel and part Apple keynote, with musical performances from the likes of Meghan Trainor, Shaboozey, Rita Ora and Plain White T’s; appearances from Billy Crystal, Ke Huy Quan and John Stamos; and even a Steve Jobs-ian epilogue, with D’Amaro wrapping things up (some attendees were seen darting from their seats to the exits) before the Magic Mirror from Snow White appeared behind him, leading to a mic-drop moment with the news that Disney was building a land at Walt Disney World dedicated to iconic Disney villains.

Following the critical and financial success of Inside Out 2, fans may be wondering whether a third Inside Out movie is in the works at Pixar.
Pixar is no stranger to trilogies — in fact, a third Incredibles movie was announced at 2024s D23 expo, marking the third Pixar franchise to surpass two movies (after Toy Story and Cars).
Given both this and that Inside Out 2 is now the highest-grossing animated film of all time, an Inside Out 3 would likely not be a huge surprise if it were to happen.

Beetlejuice Beetlejuice will easily be Michael Keaton's most successful movie as the star reaches a career box office record. Keaton has become one of the biggest stars of his generation after being in the acting industry for roughly 49 years. During that time, the award-winning actor has portrayed many iconic characters, including Batman, Vulture, and Betelgeuse. While Keaton found moderate success with the last few movies, Beetlejuice Beetlejuice has dominated the box office since its release and even broke many records in the last few weeks.
Per Collider, Beetlejuice Beetlejuice's latest box office earnings mean that Keaton now surpasses $7 billion in his whole career. This milestone comes as the legacy sequel reaches $337 million globally at the box office, becoming his seventh highest-grossing movie of all time. It will likely take the sixth spot soon as it closes in on Dumbo's $353 million global total.

The Pixar Theory was initially published as a book that digs deep to explain how all Pixar films are connected, but the 2017 re-release of Cars shatters the theory in one wacky post-credits scene. Since 2015, The Pixar Theory has been a huge point of discussion among fans of the Pixar movies. The theory was initially put forward by John Negroni, who wrote a novel that extensively outlined the links between each title and how they are connected.
Since then, the theory has continued to grow thanks to large YouTube channels like SuperCarlinBrothers, and other internet sleuths who take the Easter Eggs as some sort of signal indicating a bigger shared plot. While this theory has some legs, and those who put work into deciphering the code have presented solid arguments, one scene in the re-release of Cars from 2017 could put a halt to the entire theory.

Although 2013's Planes is considered a part of the Pixar universe, it was not actually made by the studio. Planes, which follows a crop duster whose dream is to compete in the Wings Around The Globe race, is a spinoff of the popular Cars franchise. Following the success of Planes, Planes: Fire and Rescue, was released in 2014 as a sequel. There was supposed to be a third installment in the Planes franchise as well, but it was canceled after the production studio behind the movie was closed.
Pixar has produced several movies for Disney, including the record-breaking Inside Out 2. The studio was behind developing the Cars franchise but did not produce the spinoff, Planes, despite the movies being set in the same universe. Pixar might not have been behind the production of Planes, but there are some things in the feature film that connect it to Pixar's Cars.

Pixar is making history with the massive success of Inside Out 2. The sequel to the 2015 original has made a record $1.67 Billion at the worldwide box office and is currently the highest grossing animated movie of all time. Pixar’s recent streak of box office duds has, for the time being, been put to an end after fears of a shutdown were prevalent throughout the company.
However, not everyone is happy with the success. Multiple former employees who were recently let go during a string of layoffs at the studio came forward in a report via IGN. Though they wished to remain anonymous, they described many of the troubles both Inside Out 2 and the studio had, along with many sad stories that were caused by their dismissal.

Progress on Cola Wars is bubbling up, as the Sony Pictures feature has attached Judd Apatow to direct with Steven Spielberg to produce, The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed.

Back in 2001, Disneyland Resort opened a second theme park gate – Disney California Adventure – dedicated to the Golden State and all its glory. In the early days of operation, the park suffered from a lack of entertainment and inspiration, and an unavoidable comparison to the masterpiece across the street named Disneyland. But after a rocky start, Disney California Adventure has been slowly improving to where it is now considered one of the great theme parks in the country.
Cars Land – opened in 2012 – rivals any other intellectual property (IP)-themed land in the world, which is quite a feat among competition including the Wizarding World of Harry Potter, Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge, and Pandora: The World of Avatar. The 2021 opening of Avengers Campus has made the park the go-to place for full-on Marvel immersion. With even more expansion on the horizon, the future looks brighter than ever for Disneyland’s second gate.

Pixar's Win or Lose is the studio's most exciting upcoming project, but the TV series is also under a lot of pressure to succeed. Even with 23 Academy Award wins and box office record-breaking hits like Inside Out 2 under its belt, Pixar is still navigating an uneven path forward with Disney. Acquired by The Walt Disney Company in 2006, right around the time the original Cars movie hit the big screen, Pixar has managed to produce original content over the last two decades or so. However, there's no denying the recent shift in the animation studio's trajectory.

Pixar has earned its place as the powerhouse studio in the field of animation, and as such it has seen a lot of success, but one specific trilogy is the studios wildest movie franchise for various reasons. Pixar began its reign in animation in 1995 with Toy Story, the first entirely computer-animated feature film, which marked the beginning of years of high-quality animated movies. Toy Story continues to be Pixars biggest and most successful franchise, but it has also built other, smaller franchises.
Pixar began with a story about talking toys with feelings, and since then, it has explored other fun and unlikely scenarios, such as talking bugs, a world of monsters, rats who are exceptional chefs, and more. At the time of writing, and leaving Toy Story aside, Pixar has five franchises, some bigger than others: Monsters, Inc., Finding Nemo, The Incredibles, Cars, and Inside Out. While they all explore...

The streamer’s light summer continues, but one of the year’s biggest and most anticipated series will have its debut this month: the Marvel Studios/Marvel Television spinoff series “Agatha All Along.” Kathryn Hahn reprises her Emmy-nominated “WandaVision” role as the infamous witch Agatha Hackness as she works with some unlikely allies on her quest to regain her former powers. “Heartstopper” star Joe Locke co-stars in the new MCU addition, which will premiere on Wednesday, Sept. 18 with new episodes continuing to debut throughout September and October.
Also in September, ABC’s “Dancing with the Stars” will premiere its 33rd season, and Disney+ subscribers will be able to watch the new season live right along those with cable. So far, Olympic Bronze medalist and pommel horse specialist Stephen Nedoroscik is the only confirmed cast member, but the full roster will be announced during...

Apart from delivering jumpscares and terrifying familial drama, The Deliverance also features memorable performances from its cast members, who do an incredible job of portraying their characters. Loosely based on the real Ammons haunting case, The Deliverance is another haunted house drama that does not stray too far from the genre's conventions. Owing to its inability to stand out among the slew of other horror movies, The Deliverance has mostly received mixed reviews from critics and has an underwhelming Rotten Tomatoes score of 36%.
However, most reviews for the film have highlighted that, even though it does not deliver on the terrors, it is worth watching because of the performances of its cast. This is not surprising, given how the movie stars several talented actors, like Andra Day, Caleb McLaughlin, and Caleb McLaughlin, among others. Since the actors in The Deliverance play a crucial role in making its horror drama engaging,...

After a quiet few weeks, September is shaping up to be quite an exciting month for Disney+ subscribers – especially if you happen to be a Marvel fan!
This September, Marvel’s latest original series, Agatha All Along, finally arrives on Disney+ beginning with a two-part season premiere event on Sept. 18. The spinoff picks up sometime after the events of WandaVision, reuniting us with one of our favorite witches: Agatha Harkness!
Left powerless after her battle with the Scarlet Witch and still trapped in the spell placed upon her in the finale of WandaVision, Agatha’s journey is turned around when a goth Teen arrives to break her free from the spell. After agreeing to accompany him to the Witches’ Road, a magical gauntlet of trails that, if survived, rewards the conquering witches with what they need, Agatha and our unnamed Teen assemble a coven to begin their journey down the road.
