  • Although I am Slovak I rarely watch anything that our country creates. This goes way back, I remember I was 10 when I first saw this. Then, we were still part of Czechoslovakia.

Helena Ruzickova was a famous actress, mostly a comedian but this was also a more dramatic role for her and she excelled as a loving stepmother and a careful wife. The whole series is about the World War II. when the Germans slowly but surely started to occupy Czechoslovakia and the people in this story were forced to move away from their home. The train was literally like a ray of hope for them. Usually, these types of stories are sad and depressing but here, the creators and actors were able to show us a different approach and it worked.
