What’s Heaven Sent you ask? Well, if you’re a complete pop culture nerd like myself then you would know that it is the tentative title of a new movie being developed off of the Justice League Dark characters. Many are not familiar with Justice League Dark but a few names might sound familiar to you. Swamp Thing, Constantine, Zatanna, and Boston Brand aka The Deadman (which also was my Halloween costume last year) are all characters from DC’s Justice League Dark series. While I’m not overall pleased with the way the New 52 series has handled their story, hearing these characters mentioned by some one like Del Toro has me foaming at the mouth.

Last week we learned that Guilermo del Toro was looking to develop a supernatural Justice League Dark style movie called Heaven Sent. The movie would bring together the DC Comics characters Deadman, The Spectre, Swamp Thing, Constantine Hellblazer, Phantom Stranger, Zatanna, Zatara, and Sargon, as well as Etrigan the Demon! All in one movie. This would no doubt be one hell of a film! I'm actually more excited about this happening than I am with the Justice League movie currently in development.
Del Toro himself confirmed with MTV that the movie is cooking, and he's in discussions with Warner Bros.
When somebody asked me about Justice League…I'm not involved in Justice League. I am discussing…I've been discussing with the fans and I've been very, very open about how much Swamp Thing was key when I was a kid. Comics in Mexico came on the first two days of the week.

Guillermo del Toro has responded to rumours that he has been offered the chance to make a Warner Bros movie bringing together many of DC Comics' supernatural heroes.
The project is said to be called Heaven Sent and would feature Deadman, The Spectre, Swamp Thing, Constantine Hellblazer, Phantom Stranger, Zatanna Zatara, Sargon and Etrigan the Demon.
It would be a similar concept to the existing occult team Justice League Dark, a comic book title unveiled in June 2011.
According to Latino Review, Warner Bros lawyers are now trying to clear the rights to all these mystical characters.
And although it was claimed elsewhere that del Toro had dismissed the rumour, he posted on his forum that he had been referring to the regular Justice League (featuring Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman, etc) and was excited by the suggestion of a Heaven Sent film.

Guillermo del Toro has said that he would "love" to film Heaven Sent for Warner Bros. The director addressed the rumours that he would helm an ensemble film starring DC Comics' mystical superheroes. After being reported to have denied working on the movie, he took to his message board to say he had never done so. "Wow - please contact whoever said I denied it," he said. "I cannot recall ever answering a question like that. "Sadly I don't do [Twitter]. I denied being involved in [the (more)...

Update: Gah. Such as it is with rumors, it seems there was a bit of mixup. But Guillermo Del Toro clarifies his position on "Heaven Sent" on his own forums: "Wow- please contact whoever said I denied it. I cannot recall ever answering a question like that. Sadly I dont do tweeter. I denied being involved in Jla but ['Heaven Sent'] I would love to do!!!" As we said in our report yesterday, this didn't really make much sense. But it was a juicy rumor, and conceivably something Guillermo Del Toro would be interested in doing. But alas, it turned out to be dead wrong. Originally reported by Latino Review, their story went something like this: Warner Bros. were so happy with "Pacific Rim" they were throwing projects left and right at Del Toro. But the filmmaker decided he wanted to do a comic book team-up movie with the second tier DC Comics characters Deadman,...

Okay, so hold your horses. This is merely a rumor. But it has the potential to blow up on the internet. Or at least blow up on the corners of the internet where people worship Guillermo Del Toro and comic books.
Here’s the rumor from Latino Review, the king of random sources that either end up really right or disappear off into the night:
Speaking of Guillermo del Toro let’s just say he is working on a movie that has the potential to be the greatest movie ever committed to film. Or bytes. I hear that his next epic, Pacific Rim ( a Japanese Porno) is testing so well that Warner Brothers wants to offer him everything they have. Fortunately he passed on the feature version of V and the sequel to Charlie and the Chocolate Factory but he does want to do his own version of the Avengers,...

It has been a wild week of movie news and rumors, but the outright strangest has now emerged.
Warners is reportedly happy enough with Guillermo del Toro's upcoming sci-fi epic "Pacific Rim" that they and the filmmaker could be coming together again for a film involving a team-up of DC Comics characters.
"Justice League"? Nothing that simple. Latino Review reports that the project will entitled "Heaven Sent" and will see the various magical beings from the DC Comics universe coming together "The Avengers" style.
This will include a bunch of second and third-tier characters including the likes of Deadman, The Spectre, Swamp Thing, John Constantine, Phantom Stranger, Zatanna, Zatara, Sargon and Etrigan the Demon. That's essentially the same cast of characters seen in two issues of Alan Moore's "Swamp Thing" comic.

Come hell or high water, Warner Bros. is committed to getting a Justice League movie off the ground, and now new rumors are surfacing that they may be looking past Justice League for a more supernatural follow-up. Latino Review has been pretty good about scoops in the past, and an anonymous tipster reveals that the studio and director Guillermo del Toro are in talks for a superhero project called Heaven Sent. The film would see DC’s supernatural stable of characters -- Swamp Thing, John Constantine, the Demon, Zatanna, the Spectre and Deadman -- in one epic story, working together against some world-threatening mystic evil. It’s certainly in del Toro’s wheelhouse, but is it actually going to happen? Del Toro has a tendency to fill his plate too full, attaching...

Guillermo del Toro is in the highest tier of good books with Warner Brothers right now, so much so that according to a report from Latino Review, he is looking to develop an Avengers-style team-up epic entitled Heaven Sent, with supernatural DC Comics characters Deadman, The Spectre, Swamp Thing, Constantine Hellblazer, Phantom Stranger and others.
Del Toro’s upcoming project Pacific Rim, due out in 2013 and starring Charlie Hunnam and Idris Elba, is reportedly testing so well that Warner Bros. is essentially giving him the keys to the kingdom; so far he has turned down offers to direct a film version of V and a sequel to Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.

A "Locke & Key" movie trilogy? An "Avengers" sized film starring DC Comics' supernatural all-stars and directed by Guillermo del Toro? A swing and a miss on the "Powers" TV show? Depending on what you believe, these are all things that are currently in the mix.
Latino Review published a massive report this week detailing several once and future (and possibly defunct) comic book movie and TV properties. Read on for the rundown.
» Up first is "Heaven Sent," a potential Guillermo del Toro director vehicle that would feature an all-star lineup of DC's most prominent supernatural characters including Swamp Thing, John Constantine, Etrigan the Demon, the Spectre and more. Considering their line that "Heaven Sent is certain to Rule ComicCon in 2020," we're not holding our breath for any confirmation on this project for quite some time.

Well, it seems that Justice League won’t be the only big DC Comics union. Rumor is that Guillermo del Toro is going to follow up his monster epic Pacific Rim with Heaven Sent, which is said to be his version of The Avengers.
Hellboy director is planning on teaming the DC comic book character Deadman with a slew of other DC supernatural characters, combining all the magical beings like Deadman, The Spectre, Swamp Thing, Constantine Hellblazer, Phantom Stranger, Zatanna, Zatara, Sargon and Etrigan the Demon in one epic adventure (Swamp-Thing probably being the one potential hold-out).
The director has reportedly passed on several big projects including a big-screen version of V and a gestating sequel to Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, but he’s keen to direct the Heaven Sent film.
Word comes that Warner’s lawyers have been working to clear the rights to all these characters.

Guillermo Del Toro Reportedly Developing 'Avengers'-Style Movie With Second Tier DC Comic Characters
File this under Guillermo del Toro project #A-898039. Also, it's largely a rumor for now, and one that doesn't quite make sense, but as always, you never know... Latino Review is reporting that Warner Bros. is currently swooning over del Toro. Specifically, "Pacific Rim." The film is apparently testing so well at the moment that they are throwing every property they have at him, including a sequel to "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory" (huh?) and a feature version of "V." But del Toro has his own grand ambitions, and is said to be planning his own "The Avengers"-style team-up movie called "Heaven Sent" with a bunch of DC Comics characters you've (mostly) never heard of including Deadman, The Spectre, Swamp Thing, Constantine Hellblazer, Phantom Stranger, Zatanna, Zatara, and Sargon. Let's just pause here a moment. As we pointed out yesterday when WB put "Jersey Boys" into turnaround, the...

While the rest of the web community is aflutter with endless Star Wars Episode VII speculation, there’s another movie possibility that has me far more excited than a reunion with the Ewoks. Guillermo del Toro (who has not directed a single bad movie) has just put the word out that he’d be interested in playing with DC Comics stable of magically inclined characters by teaming up a bunch of them for a film called Heaven Sent.
It’s pretty much the Justice League but with characters that have long been awaiting their proper representation on the big screen, and could turn out being far more interesting than the Last Son of Krypton or the Scarlet Speedster. There’s no shortage of fantastic heroes, anti-heroes, villains and others in DC’s canon. But, out of all of those, this is a list of five that absolutely need to be included,...

During the majority of his interviews, Guillermo Del Toro mentions his love for monsters. And now that Warner Bros is pleased with his new "Pacific Rim" film, they have decided to give him a blank check to make any movie he wants. He obviously chose a monster movie. It's called "Heaven Sent" and combines all the magical characters from DC Comics, including Deadman, The Spectre, Swamp Thing, Constantine Hellblazer, Phantom Stranger, Zatanna, Zatara, Sargon and Etrigan the Demon. The goal is to make a big-budget film similar to "The Avengers" or "Justice League of America." Before "Heaven Sent" can be greenlit, LatinoReview points out that Warner Bros will take some time to figure out all the legalities behind a film like that.

Latino Review has been a pretty reliable source of breaking comic book movie news in the past, so when one of their tried and true informants reports something with a scoop, it shouldn’t be scoffed at as impossible hearsay. But, on the other hand, Guillermo Del Toro is a director who’s built up a pretty strong reputation for becoming interested in and attaching himself to tons of projects that never come to fruition – so this story should probably be taken with a grain of salt. Now, with disclaimers out of the way, here’s a big story that would be completely awesome if it ever turns into a completed film. Lr’s shadowy sources are reporting that Warner Bros. is so pleased with the work that Del Toro has done on his monster movie epic, Pacific Rim, that they’ve basically given him carte blanche to choose whatever he wants to do for his next...

Right now Guillermo del Toro is playing with giant robots and monsters for Pacific Rim, but sometime down the road, he's going to be playing with some comic book properties again. According to our friends at Latino Review Guillmero del Toro has an awesome sounding DC Comics movie cooking over at Warner Bros! Apparently, the studio likes Pacific Rim so much and it's testing so well with audiences, that they are willing to let Del Toro make any movie he wants at the studio!
Apparently they offered him the directing jobs for V and a Charlie and the Chocolate Factory sequel that he turned down. Why? Because he wants to make his own version of The Avengers with supernatural elements. He wants to make a film called Heaven Sent, which would combine the following DC characters into on movie of awesomeness! Those characters include Deadman, The Spectre, Swamp Thing, Constantine Hellblazer, Phantom Stranger, Zatanna, Zatara, and Sargon, as well as Etrigan the Demon!

Our friends over at Latino-Review have just broken one hell of a story. According to the site, Guillermo del Toro (Hellboy, Pacific Rim) will soon begin work on a DC Comics adaptation for Warner Bros. called Heaven Sent, and it will bring together some of the most well-known supernatural characters from that comic book universe, including: • Deadman • The Spectre • Swamp Thing • Constantine Hellblazer • Phantom Stranger • Zatanna • Zatara • Sargon • Etrigan the Demon That's the list the site has and it seems to cover that area of the DC Universe very nicely (a shame that there's no mention of Animal Man though...). Warner's lawyers are currently hard at work on making sure they have the rights to bring each of these characters to the big screen, and while it's a project which is likely still a good few years away, but it's definitely not too early to start getting excited about this...

Taco is like a popular character who either died or went away for a while in a comic book storyline. If you know your comics, popular characters don’t ever die or go away. Sometimes they even evolve. Pinche Taco not only returns to the Latino Review fold, but he has evolved as well!
Enjoy the Five scoops he got for us! Five! Talk about evolution!
There was a great fanzine once called Afta. The title stood for Ascension From The Ashes. It only came out three times. The guy who wrote it loved movies and comics. He died several years ago in a fire- his boxes of movies and comics made it impossible for him to escape the fire.

Blood makes me squeamish. Really squeamish. In fact, at the sight of blood my feet go numb and when it’s really bad, all the way up to my knees. Not numb, per se. Limp, weak, dead. The point is that blood (blood is really more of a blanket term for needles, bones, organs, veins, arteries, etc.) makes me feel woozy and in turn it makes it hard for me to want to watch bloody movies and television shows. So hard I usually turn them off.
