  • Picked up a tape of this last year and finally got around to watching it. Shot on video, the feature appears to be a tense, at times distasteful Greek "Giallo" like version of RASHAMON: A group of five people gather after the death of a gorgeous call girl to confront each other about the web of coincidences that connect them all to her death and each other. I speak not a word of Greek and the tape is not subtitled but from what I gather, everyone in the cast had equal motivation to want to see the young woman dead, and are equally implicated as suspects in the murder.

The production and performances are all professional and competent enough, Vanna Barba is utterly gorgeous as the call girl (and did not object to baring her wonderful breasts for the camera, repeatedly) and Yiorgos Petrohilos looks familiar ... ?? But I just can't place it. "Interesting" is the adjective I would use: I'd be interested in seeing an English subtitle for the film, to start with, and it's an excellent example of how a GOOD "movie", like any other art form, can transcend language barriers. Even without gory sleaze or aggressively sexual content, it held my attention for it's 90 minutes or so of runtime, and remember: I am the guy who likes DEATH SHIP.
