A Cinderella meets her Prince Charming on the ill-fated Titanic. Along for the ride are a rapping dog, other talking animals, and an assortment of wacky humans.
There are two American versions of this film done with the same cast: an uncut dub, and a drastically cut and re-edited dub. It features a completely different plot, songs, and dialogue. Entire scenes were edited in different sequence, and others have been removed, re-used, or placed before other scenes. Additional dialogue and various one-liners were added into originally silent scenes, along with new music scores and wacky cartoon sound effects. While the uncut version is 82-minutes long, this version was shortened to 70 minutes, plus 12 minutes of credits showing some deleted scenes.
You didn't pack our clothes properly, you clumsy girl. Bernice's dress even has a rip in it.
Gertrude: Pick up those bits of broken china at once. And mend and iron our clothes, so we can attend the reception to welcome us aboard. In any case, you can't come.....
When Maxie is pulling faces at Angelica's family, Hortense screams. A second later when Bernice is bouncing across the screen, Hortense's legs can clearly be seen. Hortense then screams again and then faints.
End credits run for 12 minutes.
The most commonly available version has been drastically cut and re-edited. It removes several scenes and subplots, reorders certain scenes and shortens the running time. The edited version starts in medias res, with the Titanic sinking, and tells the rest of the story in flashback. The uncut version gives an explanation for why the heroine has been abandoned by her parents. The infamous rap song is also different in the two versions.
