Once it emerged that Justin Timberlake was returning to Saturday Night Live, it was inevitable that Barry Gibb would make an appearance.
Timberlake and Jimmy Fallon brought The Barry Gibb Talk Show back for its seventh appearance – over 10 years since it was last on the show.
Watch above.
As ever, the Tonight Show host and the former NSync star played Barry Gibb and his quiet brother Robin, who doesn’t have anything to add.
Continuing to use the Bee Gees’ “Nights on Broadway” as the basis for their parody, the Gibbs were joined by Bowen Yang, Keenan Thompson and host Dakota Johnson.
“You look like if Don King ate another Don King,” said Fallon’s Barry Gibb. “I fear nothing; I watched Saltburn with my entire family and I knew about the bathtub scene beforehand.”
“I am legend; I have not cried in 77 years except for Australian show Bluey,” he added.

It’s a lean month for new original content on HBO/Max. November will see the return of two scripted series in Julia and Rap Sh!t, both of which are debuting their respective second seasons, but this month’s fresh highlight is likely to be Bookie, a new comedy series from the partnership of The Big Bang Theory creator Chuck Lorre, and Nick Bakay. The show tracks an LA bookie called Danny (Sebastian Maniscalco), whose business is in peril as California movies to legalize sports gambling.
Elsewhere in November, there quite a few interesting documentaries to keep an eye on, and two that jump out as “must watch”. The first is Albert Brooks: Defending My Life, which chronicles the aging comedian’s life and career. The second is the previously-released Little Richard: I Am Everything, which tries to peel back the whitewashed canon of Richard Penniman in a true...

Though the SAG-AFTRA strike is still in effect, late night will return starting on Friday with a new episode of HBO’s “Real Time with Bill Maher.” It’s a timeline that puts late night in an odd position: Which guests can appear on late night when the actors’ strike is still in progress?
Luckily, we have an answer to that question thanks to daytime television and SAG-AFTRA’s own rules.
Why can late night return during the SAG-AFTRA strike?
The state of late night is a little bit confusing, because several hosts have also done acting work and are part of SAG-AFTRA. For example, Jimmy Fallon starred in “Fever Pitch” and John Oliver starred in “Community,” as well as the live-action “Lion King.”
Because late-night shows fall under the Network Television Code, these striking performers can return to their jobs. Late night is officially part of what’s called...

When Jimmy Fallon returns to the air in October following the end of the WGA strike, it will continue his 14th year as the host of an NBC late night talk show. The “Saturday Night Live” alum got his late night start by taking over for Conan O’Brien as the host of “Late Night,” which Fallon led from March 2, 2009 to Feb. 7, 2014. But Fallon would’ve never booked the “Late Night” gig in the first place had it not been for “SNL” creator Lorne Micheals threatening NBC executives.
“I was leaving ‘SNL’ [in 2004] and so [Michaels] goes, ‘Would you ever want to do it? A talk show?’ I go, ‘I don’t think so,'” Fallon said on the “Strike Force Five” podcast (via Entertainment Weekly) to cohosts Stephen Colbert, Jimmy Kimmel, Seth Meyers and John Oliver. “And so I said, ‘Well, in six years ask me and if I, you know, if I’m around,...

The premise of Nancy Meyers' 2006 romance "The Holiday" is rather high concept. Iris (Kate Winslet), a reporter in England, has just broken up with her cheating boyfriend. Amanda (Cameron Diaz), a Los Angeles native and showbiz impresario, has just done the same. By chance, the two heartbroken women discover a want-ad in the newspaper wherein they would swap homes for the holidays and live in each other's respective towns. Amanda, while in England, finds some unexpected romantic company with Iris' visiting brother Graham (Jude Law). The two decide to have a fling, but end up seeing each other more and more. Iris, meanwhile, settling in L.A., finds herself drifting closer and closer toward a friend of her ex, a charming and funny dude named Miles (Jack Black). The film also features Rufus Sewell, Shannyn Sossamon, Kathryn Hahn, and John Krasinski. Lindsay Lohan makes a cameo.

Tubi opens June with an intense WWII drama “Inglourious Basterds.” Allied officer Lt. Aldo Raine (Brad Pitt) assembles a team of five tough Jewish soldiers to spread fear throughout the Third Reich. They have one assignment: assassinate Nazi leaders. Quentin Tarantino wrote and directed the unconventional war drama. Eli Roth, Melanie Laurent, and Christopher Walz co-star.
Watch the trailer of “Inglourious Basterds”:
The network is also streaming the original documentary “Mystery Unsolved: The Adnan Syed Story” on June 7. The murder of teenager Hae Min Lee was the focal point of a “Serial” podcast, which questioned if boyfriend Syed was her killer. After serving 22 years in prison, Syed was released, still proclaiming his innocence. Now, he may return.
Another streamer original, “Magic Carpet Rides,” arrives June 14. It centers on a social influencer torn between sharing her budding romance or honoring her boyfriend’s request to keep their life private.

Exclusive: Jack Black and brothers Bobby and Peter Farrelly, the team behind the 2001 comedy Shallow Hal, look to be reuniting for the holidays — and bringing an infamous character along for the sleigh ride. Sources tell Deadline that Black is set to star in the Christmas comedy Dear Santa with Bobby Farrelly set to direct and Peter Farrelly on board to produce with Bobby and Jeremy Kramer.
The movie centers on a young boy who, in writing his yearly note to Santa, mixes up the letters and sends it to Satan instead. ‘I thought the film was dead. But then one morning my newsagent, a fellow Arsenal fan, gave me a note that said: “Call Stephen Frears.” It was an unconventional approach’
There was a version of High Fidelity in my head before I wrote Fever Pitch. It wasn’t a high-concept book: the original idea was to write about a relationship from a guy’s point of view. I remember telling my agent about it and seeing her eyes glaze over as I mumbled about record shops and relationships. I’ve spent a lot of time in record shops but I have never worked in one, so I based it on people I’d seen and conversations I’d heard. The girlfriends were archetypal.

Drew Barrymore shared some very exciting news on the Feb. 23 episode of her talk show, "The Drew Barrymore Show," during which she revealed that she and longtime collaborator Adam Sandler are looking to do another movie together.
During the episode, Barrymore talked to her cohost Ross Matthews about how Tom Hanks and Robin Wright - who starred together in "Forrest Gump" - are teaming up for a new film together. Matthews said, "And I love when people we love in movies like reteam for a movie. So, I'm gonna ask you on behalf of everyone, you and Adam Sandler, are we doing another one?"
Barrymore confessed, "We are definitely talking about it. For sure." Matthews called it "breaking news."
"There's actual conversations happening?" he asked. "There's conversations to find the thing," Barrymore confirmed. "We're always, I think it's very script story specific, and yeah, we're actively seeking the right thing.

Drew Barrymore Praises ‘Scrappy People,’ Urges Everyone to ‘Get Down on the God Damn Floor’ and Help
In an energetic speech at Variety’s Power of Women event Thursday night, Drew Barrymore praised those who prioritize action over words, encouraging everyone to “get down on the god damn floor” and help those in need.
While speaking about her charity of choice, World Central Kitchen — which provides meals to victims of natural disasters — Barrymore expressed her admiration for founder José Andrés and all the “scrappy people” who are ready to band together at any moment.
“When I look at José Andrés, the reason I’m drawn to World Central Kitchen is because he says, ‘I’m sorry, but tomorrow is not Ok. It’s today.’ And I love those scrappy people! I have always been one of those scrappy people. If you see somebody like doing this,” Barrymore said as she physically got down on the floor, “get down on the god damn floor with them, and start picking stuff up!

There are diverse streaming releases slates and then there is Hulu’s list of new releases for May 2022. There are no big franchises here, no big themes – just a whole bunch of original and library titles for everyone to enjoy.
Hulu’s major original releases in May come in the middle of the month. Candy premieres on May 9 and stars Jessica Biel as your friendly neighborhood axe murderer. If that sounds a bit outlandish, bear in mind that this limited series is based on the real life story of Candy Montgomery and her victim, the tragically named Betty Gore. On May 15, Hulu will play host to Conversations with Friends. This is the latest adaptation of the works of Sally Rooney. After the breakaway success of Normal People, Hulu is undoubtedly hoping for more lightning in a bottle.

On May 15, Hulu will play host to Conversations with Friends. This is the latest adaptation of the works of Sally Rooney. After the breakaway success of Normal People, Hulu is undoubtedly hoping for more lightning in a bottle.
On the movie side of things, May will welcome The Valet on May...

Michael Keaton in Ron Howard’s Night Shift (1982) is now available on Blu-ray from Warner Archive
The world of Wall Street drove Charles Lumley III up the wall. His new job at the New York City Morgue is quieter – until Billy “Blaze” Blazejowski shows up with a cool idea on how to liven things up.
Directed by Ron Howard (A Beautiful Mind), Night Shift is a breakneck farce rife with hysterical ideas thanks to veteran comedy writers Lowell Ganz and Babaloo Mandel. Henry Winkler (Happy Days) is low-key Lumley in a delightfully offbeat performance. Shelley Long of Cheers also scores as a hapless happy hooker. But the casting triumph is film-debuting Michael Keaton as Billy Blaze, launching a career rich in comedic and dramatic highlights. Is this a great country or what?...

Michelle Obama clearly doesn't want Jimmy Fallon to quit his day job. The former first lady visited The Tonight Show on Thursday, March 18, where she revealed she's not exactly the biggest fan of the movies he made before shifting his career to focus on hosting his talk show. During a round of "Settles It," in which Michelle quickly answered a series of hot-button questions, Jimmy perhaps dug his own grave by asking whether she preferred his 2004 action-comedy flick Taxi that co-starred Queen Latifah, or his 2005 rom-com Fever Pitch, in which he appeared opposite Drew Barrymore. "This is the best question, coming up," the host teased. "Better movie, Taxi...

“SNL” star Chloe Fineman made the extremely short commute from Studio 8H to Jimmy Fallon’s “Tonight Show” set on Tuesday, when she broke out some of her best impressions while reading “‘Twas the Night Before Christmas.”
Fineman did, in order: Reese Witherspoon, Drew Barrymore, Margaret Thatcher, Nicole Kidman, Phoebe Waller Bridge, Timothée Chalamet and Meryl Streep.
There was a well-executed camera gag for Pwb’s page.
Fineman’s Witherspoon was just alright, but the impersonations took off (like a sleigh being pulled by eight reindeer) from there. Thatcher was another highlight, though she might have really been doing Gillian Anderson doing the Iron Lady on Netflix’s “The Crown.” Either way.
The classic holiday poem was rewritten to fit her characters perfectly, so nice job with that too.
Watch the video above.
Perfectly, Chalamet is hosting “Saturday Night Live” this weekend with musical guest Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band.

Muppets Now continues to roll on with their third episode. In what’s supposed to be a modernized update of a beloved variety show is starting to fail when it comes to actual variety. The whole setup for Muppets Now hasn’t been perfect, but it’s been fairly sound. Four segments in the form of online shows are framed together thanks to quick bits of Scooter tossing them up online with his “Rainbow Connector.” Considering it’s the variety of characters, talents, and behaviors that make the Muppets work, this channel surfing style can definitely succeed if done correctly.
The problem is that after three episodes, they haven’t done too well in terms of mixing things up. For instance, the second episode brought back two segments from the first episode (the ones starring Miss Piggy and Swedish Chef) and that’s fine. It’s just that episode three...

This Muppets Now review contains spoilers.
Muppets Now Episode 2
Last week, Disney+ started its new series Muppets Now, hoping to keep the beloved Jim Henson franchise relevant in modern times. Sadly, they didn’t put their best foot forward and the debut episode was a lacking experiment. The concept of it being an unscripted Muppet show was more than overblown and the actual improv stuff was empty. Luckily, this week’s episode “Fever Pitch” is enough of a step up.
The format is pretty much the same. There are four unrelated Muppet segments and the only framing device is Scooter trying to upload them while experiencing problems from one or more other Muppets. This time, he’s constantly accosted by Fozzie Bear, who has all sorts of show pitches. Constantly annoyed, Scooter shoots each one down by saying it’s too similar to the one he’s uploading to Disney+ at that moment.

In the new pandemic era of streaming entertainment, Disney+ has seemingly built up its own strategy. Every summer month has thus far been highlighted by one major movie and then complemented with the typical Disney content.
For August 2020, the big original movie of the hour is Phineas and Ferb the Movie: Candace Against the Universe. This will be the second Phineas and Ferb movie and the first to make its premiere via streaming. The film premieres on August 28 and finds the Phineas and Ferb gang back together again as they set out across the galaxy to rescue Candace.

"I went out to the dock and said [to myself], 'Don't cry. Let her cry first,'" he recalled to People in 2018. "I'm a pretty mushy guy . . . and I just wanted it to be perfect. I got down on one knee and I immediately...

Activist Jay Ruderman on March 3 presented an award to brothers Peter and Bobby Farrelly for their decades of championing people with disabilities, saying show business “has the power to change public perception like no other industry.”
The occasion was the sixth annual Morton E. Ruderman Award for Inclusion, presented by the Ruderman Family Foundation and held at the Waldorf Astoria in Beverly Hills.
Onstage, Jay Ruderman pointed out that U.S. unemployment is now 4%, but people with disabilities have 70% unemployment, despite being an estimated 20% of the population. The Farrelly brothers have cast people both in front of and behind the camera since their second film, the 1996 “Kingpin.”
Bobby Farrelly said, “Whatever we’ve given to the disability community, they’ve given us a lot more back.” Peter Farrelly exploded two prevalent myths: “That they will slow you down and cost you money. It’s just the opposite,” saying people with...

So, getting tired of the frigid ole’ February (of course you sufferin’ folks in the southern states might have to dig out a windbreaker or sweater). Here in the Midwest, it’s still more than a bit nippy, with some occasional falling flakes. What better time for a multiplex getaway to…Pyeongchang, South Korea. And while we’re at it, how about a quick jump in the “Wayback” machine and get there (almost two years ago to the day) just in time for the 2018 Olympic Winter Games? But this is not a sports documentary, but rather a two-person romantic “dramedy” with the games as a backdrop. Now, filmmakers have done this for years, shooting a story “on the fly” using a big gathering. A few flicks from the past come to mind. Elvis Presley romanced and sang his way through 1962 Seattle for It Happened At The World Fair. As for sports,...
