PG-13 | | Comedy, Music
After being kicked out of his rock band, Dewey Finn becomes a substitute teacher of an uptight elementary private school, only to try and turn his class into a rock band.
When Ned asks Dewey to sell one of his guitars to pay rent, Dewey replies, "Would you ask Picasso to sell one of his guitars?" and Sarah Silverman's character calls him an idiot. Guitars are a prominent subject in many of Picasso's paintings.
Lead guitar... Zack Attack. On bass... Posh Spice. On keyboards, Mr. Cool. And on drums, Spazzy McGee. OK, Blondie, Brace Face, you're singing backup. All right, Tough Guy, Shortstop, Fancy Pants, get over here. You're on security detail.
Billy: Can I be ...
When Dewey is removing his guitar and getting ready for his crowd dive at the beginning of the movie, one shot shows him still standing downstage with the guitar on.
Shortly after that, the band sings: The movie is over Credits got to roll Look at that name there I do not know that guy
In the theatrical version of the film, the performance by School of Rock during the end credits is changed. Originally, after several solos, Dewey tells Katie she does not get one, as bassists don't get solos and that's just how it works. This was changed for the DVD and TV versions: Dewey does not tell Katie that bassists don't get solos and she does not assume she gets one anyhow.
