  • Firsts series produced by the Catalan TV, TV3, to reach the 1.000 milestone episode. The setting owes a lot to Eastenders, which was a huge success about twenty years ago in the Catalan TV. Instead of the East End, you get San Andreu, and a set of characters, most of them Catalan speaking, although there have been some Spanish speaking ones, like the Andalusian grandmother, the Moroccan worker or the Cuban cook that arrives in town as boy friend of one of the female characters. Those characters are always seen in a positive light, to improve integration of the recently arrived. As usual in this set up, you get a lot of stories mixing up. The audience relates to the stories told because of the proximity of the characters, although on the 2005 season there has been an intrigue element in the figure of the serial raper that the audience knows who he is, but the characters ignore. In fact, a very local product, with very good actors that record the series in the morning and sometimes do theater on the afternoon, well produced, that is very different from the other Spanish serials that relate more to the Spanish comic tradition.
