  • I can not remember everything about this movie/featurette (since it has yet to be released on DVD), but here is the basic plot.

The Blinkins are fairies who live in the forest. One day as they are collecting food for winter, they come across a young girl's doll. They decide to take the doll home. The scene cuts to Grog the frog. He meets up with the bear, who can not think of anything but food for winter. I believe that Grog gives the bear the idea to take food from the Blinkins. Grog and the bear give the Blinkins until midnight (or nightfall)to collect more food and prepare it for the bear.

The Blinkins and Mr. Benjamin the owl must then think of a plan to keep their food and get rid of Grog and the bear. I will not give away any spoilers, but the Blinkins spend the rest of the day formulating their plan and putting it into effect.

This is a GREAT cartoon. I loved it as a child, would love it now, and I would love to get this on DVD to watch again.
  • I seem to remember there being 3 Blinkins episodes made. Each one is set in a different season. Spring, Autumn and Winter (No Summer one was made that I am aware of)

In the Spring episode, the Blinkins are appointed to help the Magic Flower of Spring bloom and thus spread its warmth upon the earth and ending Winter for that year. Each year a different group of Blinkins are chosen. However Mr Slime, a swamp monster, has other ideas. His plan is to capture the Blinkins, with the help of Mr Grogg, and have it be Winter forever.

In the Fall episode – The Blinkins and the Bear - a little girl, Molly, loses her doll, Belinda, in the Blinkin wood and the Blinkins find it and make it their mission to return her to the owner. In the process, Flashy gets kidnapped by Mr Bear and the Blinkins are given a ransom from Mr Bear and Mr Grogg in the form of food from their winter store in exchange for Flashy's safe return.

In the Winter episode – The Blinkins and the Blizzard – a full blown blizzard has hit the Blinkin Wood. Molly is out in the woods still looking for Belinda. She trips and twists her ankle and the Blinkins find her and help her to safety inside a cave. The cave turns out to be Mr Bears cave and the Blinkins and Mr Ben have to come up with a plan to get her out as no one is strong enough to carry her.

A really beautiful work, especially the first of spring ... it was very magical and will impact me all my life .. such a wonderful story, beautiful animation and cute character designs, and very good music ... there are scenes that are works of art in "The Magic Flower" it's a pity that it was not even edited on VHS, and as far as I know it was only broadcast on television once on a FOX network. I can assure you with certainty that it is better than My little pony and any other cartoon for girls of that time ... it is a pity that it was not successful, it could have surpassed all the other Cartoons, since Blinkins also had toys made by LJN, one of the most beloved brands ... although, LJN focused more on children's toys it shows that he put a lot of affection on blinkins, a great pity that My little pony overshadowed everything and Hasbro stole the idea by bringing the Glo Friends.
