As a 10 year old, this film was where it was at. I loved this movie, loved the music, loved their outfits. I wanted to start my own girl group, a fantasy I had since idolizing TLC and Destiny's Child in kindergarten. This movie reignited that girly dream. 18 years later I rewatched this film and my goodness, even for a direct to TV film, there's no forgiveness for how bad this movie really is. It will always have a special place in my heart, but one has to objectively look at things at some point.

The main characters, Galleria (Raven Symoné) and Chanel (Adrienne Bailon) are very shallow and one dimensional; Galleria more than Chanel. Chanel has her moments where she shows that deep down she has a heart, especially when she learns Dorinda's (Sabrina Bryan) secret. Dorinda is the only character you can sympathize with. She's friendly, down to earth, she appreciates everything she has and the music career would just be the cherry on top, the movie does an injustice in not spending enough time with her character. Aqua (Kiley Williams) is the definition of a background character, we learn nothing about her except that she's from the South and carries hot sauce in her bag.

Galleria is the least likable character in the entire thing. She starts off not so bad, we see her stand her own ground against the boys who tease them, she hypes up each of the girls in the group, she's almost like the glue that holds them together. As soon as the possibility of signing a big record deal comes up, she becomes a nightmare and the movie spends too much time on her. To the point that the movie should've just been called 'Galleria.' We watch her fight her mom, humiliate her friends, and when Chanel explains to her Dorinda's home situation, she shrugs it off and says "Guess she needs this more than any of us." I mean... why on earth should we root for this character ? Why is the movie so focused on her ? Her character development isn't that great, she doesn't really change her ways. She just is happy that the other girls didn't take the record deal without her. Even as a kid, I always wanted to punch Galleria for being mean, as an adult that feeling hasn't changed. The movie is way too centered on her, when it shouldn't be. Sure she's the one who writes the songs, but it gives her no right to act the way she does. When this issue is brought up during the argument scene, Chanel tells her that some of those songs were her ideas. One of many instances where I have to ask why didn't the movie show this instead of focusing completely on Galleria ?

Both Chanel and Galleria come from wealthy families. Chanel is being raised by a single, ex-model, mom who is more focused on holding on to her youth with some new boyfriend than her kid. I think their situation was more interesting than Galleria's clashes with her mom. In one scene Chanel gets upset that her mom is not around to hear her out and so has cancelled the promised shopping date that was supposed to help Chanel feel better, so what does the mom do ? She leaves her credit card on the kitchen counter for Chanel to go out and buy something nice for herself. Chanel's way of getting back at her mom, maxing out the card and putting her mom in debt. Spoiled girl, first world problems. But don't worry, the movie makes up for this by having her think about Dorinda and buy her a new Cheetah print vest, since Galleria had humiliated her the previous day for wearing the same clothes everyday. That's how we learn Dorinda is a foster child and lives in an alley way behind a nice apartment building. Dorinda explains to her why even without the music career their friendship has been the best thing that's happened to her. Leaving you to wonder, why didn't the movie follow her around more ? Instead we just watched the two spoiled girls not get their way and sulk enough until they get it. Chanel I have more patience with cos her situation at home was more complicated than Galleria's. A lot could've been done with the other 3 characters, but as mentioned before, the movie is too focused on Galleria.

Now for what makes this movie comically bad, I mean I get that it's a Disney Channel movie but this was just not a forgivable misuse of movie budget money. The final, ultimate conflict of the film was Galleria's dog falling in a hole in a construction site and getting dirty. Now this is a situation that could easily be solved by having the construction workers lower something down to lift the dog up, but apparently the dog is not responsive to the help unless The Cheetah Girls sing. This story is breaking news worthy, we see Galleria on a big screen asking for someone to please save her dog. This is like a 'Batman signal' to the other Cheetah Girls and they show up and sing along with Galleria to the dog and the dog finally complies. After that the girls make up because they didn't sign the record deal without Galleria and they do a performance that gets shown on live television and the idiot record producer regrets that he didn't sign them.

Now I know Disney Channel movies are not meant to be cinematic masterpieces, I accept that, but this, they crossed the line and we let them. We enabled them. Disney just said "eff it, the audience is a bunch of little kids anyway" and released this. It worked, cos my 10 year old self adored this film but as an adult who loves the art of cinema and good storytelling, this movie is insulting. It was an early step in diversity and it even has the characters mention this throughout the film. Still it wasn't enough to forgive the other major mistakes this movie made. I don't know what the budget is for these Disney Channel movies but regardless if it's a lot or a little, there's no excuse for the half-assed production they put together. This is one of many films that Disney Channel just regurgitates and makes millions off of and looking back it's incredibly insulting to its young viewers. It's possible to make children films that are really good and they don't have to be Oscar worthy projects, hence the first 2 "Home Alone" movies and "School of Rock" - you can argue the latter wasn't for kids, but let's be real it was a staple from millennials' childhoods. As for character writing, this does have an effect on young viewers. I can thankfully say I didn't grow up to be a Chanel or Galleria, but a lot of girls in my class looked up to these characters and so thought their behaviors were ok, not everyone is strong minded. What was Disney thinking ? Thankfully the Lizzie McGuire movie was out the same year and that held more of a cultural significance than this. Lizzie is a much better role model who had real character development and never put either of her parents in debt.

Again, The Cheetah Girls will always hold a special place in my heart, but let's be real now. This movie is a cinematic disaster.
  • Warning: Spoilers
Let's remember the audience here - pre-teen girls. While the ending "crisis" that causes the girls to get back together is incredibly unimaginative and completely absurd, the rest of the movie promotes self-confidence - certainly something all pre-teen girls can use.

Perhaps more importantly, the Cheetah Girls themselves aren't tiny little waifs. They look, gosh, normal, and aren't complaining about it. So many other movies and TV shows aimed at the young girl set have chronic weight issues, it's refreshing to see characters living their lives without constantly freaking about body type. That alone separates this movie from 98 percent of the others.

It entertains, it has decent lessons. There's a lot worse out there.

The Cheetah Girls is a 2003 DCOM musical starring Raven Symone and tells the tale of 4 teenage girls who want to make it big in the music industry with their music. But will there music career take another turn.

Overall I thought it was a feel good movie.
  • Warning: Spoilers
Having a curiosity in the entertainment that kids and teens are being given today, I happened to watch this film on TV a few days ago.

I could be biased and say that movies aren't what they use to be for kids, but this movie went beyond that. This film is a depressing example of how horribly some of today's youth is growing up. I would NOT recommend this film in anyway (unless for laughs at its stupidity).

The film starts off with our four 'rich girl' characters strutting down the street with arrogance beyond words. The arrogance, perhaps a normal thing for some teenagers. However, these girls do appear to be filthy rich of which very few kids could relate to leaving them to wonder why can't they be rich little kids too? The goal of these girls of course - To become famous pop-singers. An unrealistic dream for most but it seems to be a moral to the film: "to have a good life, you need to become famous".

The plot moral, not a great one. The characters little lessons, appalling.

'Raven' is so caught up in the 'becoming a pop-star' experience that she becomes completely self-absorbed. This is probably one of the few morals that are presented well. Don't become a self-absorbed idiot.

Moving on. Our second character fails entirely at bringing in any good ideals. After some time working on 'the cheetah girls' upcoming career she comes home to throw a tantrum about her mother not being there (rather, she's out with a boyfriend). The real-estate agent rings about her mother's interest in selling the house, the daughter picks up the phone, rudely yelling to the agent how this house is not for sale 'Because I say so' in pure teen angst. Now she decides to go out and abuse her mother's credit card for all the money it's worth because of this small episode.

Of course when mum comes home, she is not happy. But apparently it's all OK when the daughter cries out about how her mother should be there more for her. Perhaps if this were a REAL case of child-neglect, this may be OK. But this kid was just a selfish brat who needs to find better ways to get over minor issues.

I really hope kids won't think its OK to throw hissy fit next time they discover their parents had to go out.

The next character is perhaps the most insulting to the 'real world'. Raven makes an occasional comment to this character about how trashy their fashion looks (and yes, their fashion looks perfectly fine actually).

Later in the film we realise that our 'trashy' girl is actually an orphan living in a poor foster home. It's a good idea; however, this girl looks NOTHING like a real 'poor' girl. Perhaps a 'money isn't everything' moral would have fitted nicely here, but instead we're handed the perfect fix: Get your rich friends to buy your clothes.

The forth character I won't comment on as I can't remember anything significant about her.

The process of becoming pop-stars of course, is very unrealistic, aside the sell-out factor and the lip-syncing.

'The cheetah girls' are torn between following their original dream or selling-out just to get the exposure. Their friendship hangs on the line because of this as Raven refuses to compromise.

We are given a few inspiring quotes from other characters about which road Raven should take on this matter, then its all up to the wonderful climax to do the rest.

The climax. Toto has fallen in a hole and has got dirty (horrifying experience for a dog bearing a perly white coat) Poor Raven is so frantic, this is obviously the worst kind of tragedy that could happen in life. God forbid we learn anything realistic like the death of a family member or even of this poor little pooch. Perhaps in that case we'd even had the President of the United States turning up to comfort Raven, but no, it's just a dirty dog stuck in a hole, it only calls for the whole neighbourhood, police, fire fights and the local television news crew. Such a tragedy can only resolve in the reconciled friendship of 'the cheetah girls'.

And there we have it. Entertainment... maybe. Any benefits otherwise, I would personally hope NOT, as they're not the kind of things I would like to see in kids and teenagers these days.

Normally, If this film was aimed at a higher audience (ha) I wouldn't see as much of a problem with it. But this was a Disney film... you know, the ones that are meant to be inspiring to kids, or at least teach them some values in life? This just gave us an insight to Disney's own greedy mind.

This movie was the best movie Raven has done. It has a great message for teenage girls and guys who think they have a chance in the music business. The Cheetah Girls can sing and they can dance. That is the perfect thing that makes success.

    Warning: Spoilers
This movie has to bee one of the worst movies Disney has ever made! Only small children will enjoy this awful movie, because only small children would believe stuff like this could actually happen. Like the girls win a talent show they withdrew from and when a dog gets stuck in a vent, everyone in New York worries about it and the news has a field day with it. And how the girls seem to solve every one of there problems by just singing! And how at the end, they start singing and the downtown turns into a big stage. And how by seeing this, the stupid record company owner is put to shame. PU-LEASE! I've seen more believable things in a Harry Potter movie! This film is racist, stupid, and unrealistic. Like when the girls are trying out, and the mom comes and is trying to hide, she brings her dog, WHAT? Who would bring a dog to a talent show try out?! And when the dog runs onto the stage, neither the teacher, nor the girls seem to realize since the dog is there, so is there mom. What, do they think the dog ran from there house to the school? Trust me, you can find better things to do with your time. I only gave it on because i couldn't give it a zero 1/10

This movie was terrible. I was expecting something average because it's Disney Channel, but what I saw, blew me away. It was so bad. I can't understand how it was so well-liked by girls or guys. The songs were trash, the acting was terrible, and that was not a story. The ending was just the worst part. The dog is stuck in a hole, and they get it out by singing? That was bad. I don't understand that. This, in my opinion, is the worst movie on TV. The second one looks no better. Don't waste your time.

    Bad movie.

    My score: 1/10

After reading the comments on the daily board that people can write on daily talk mainly about the race issue on this movie. let me say that the movie has no racist problems in the movie at all. the fact that the movie stinks isnt because the girls were black, the storyline and the singing were pathetic and dumb. the actors were only acting what was given to them. it couldnt have been a good movie, regardless of the races involved, the movie was drowning of stupidity and the actors hopped on the ship. (**SPOILER**) what kind of name is galleria? it reminded me of a sexually transmitted disease. disney usually has pretty tacky movies, since they try to get new stars on the market, but it doesnt work for all potential stars. that cheetah movie theme spoke millions to me and really sold the "disney makes sappy movies that have learning and fun wrapped up into one" idea. so, when they brought the two girls from 3lw that really need help, since the last thing we heard about them was they have a song like 3 or 4 years old. they only wanted money to put on the table. did you notice that the third member of the band didnt participate? i wonder why..... Raven was cool from the beginning, but she shouldnt do movies or business with disney. i think that she could make it, unlike another fellow disney show blonde girl. and if she still hangs out with disney for some other reasons, then enough with the disney tv movies, and stick to the shows and movies. NO MORE TV MOVIES FROM DISNEY! (F F-)
  • This movie is the worst one I have ever seen. This is the biggest cookie-cutter generic girly film, actually, don't even call it a film. It's a show, a crappy Disney show about every other girl who wants to be a famous singer/entertainer.

How does a trapped dog attract town-wide news attention? How do they just break into song and dance with nothing around like microphones, amps, etc? I saw this movie a while ago but I remember that I just couldn't stop ridiculing it. Whoever was in charge of this train wreck should never have anything to do with movies ever again.

Never, ever watch this movie unless you want to see something that really sucks.
  • As a child I loved this film. But as an adult; I am now noticing things in & about the characters in the film that just don't add up.. Someone or multiple someone's changed the ethnicity of one of the characters in the story from the 1st film to the 2nd.

    Warning: Spoilers
I hated the movie Cheetah girls. I mean it was cute... the first time I saw it, but then I watched it again with my little sister and it sucked. Who wants to watch a movie about some rich brats who are complaining because WAHHHH WE ARE'T FAMOUS. The movie really confused me at some points, because the script writers found it so hard to stick to the main plot. For example: I don't know what those random boys had anything to do with the plot, and who cares that the blonde girl is poor..she's probably the only one who deserves to be famous. And I think the ending was probably the stupidest part of all, I mean, what are the chances that all four girls would suddenly make up from their fight and be wearing matching clothes? The whole city wouldn't freeze everything they were doing the help some stupid dog. I don't even know how the dog thing worked into he plot. I suppose that the girls had to save the day by singing and saving Raven's ugly marshmallow of a dog. In conclusion, the movie sucks.
  • I've read some of the comments on the cheetah girls movie, and I'm surprised at how hard the ADULTS have been on this movie. I'm 16 now, but this movie came out when I was 9 or 10. And all this talk about how unrealistic it was, is STUPID. Of course it's gonna be silly and unrealistic, but this is a CHILD'S MOVIE. Disney caters to ages 6-14, although at that time not many teens watched it so it was probably around 6-11 at the time. I LOVED the movie, and so did all of my friends. We didn't see these girls as rich (nor did we care) as some people have claimed, we didn't sit there contemplating the roles of the characters, and we didn't even think that no one would care about Toto being stuck in a hole at the end, because to us at that age, that was a plausible reason for the police and firefighters to come. Unrealistic? Maybe. But we were KIDS. We cared about Toto and the girls' friendship. Fame wasn't the moral to us, friendship was, at least, that's what I got out of it. So before you rate this like it's an adult/teen lifetime/feature film, think about it from the standpoint of who it was made for, the kids.
  • The Cheetah Girls, to most people, is considered a "bad" movie. For personal reasons, I gave it a 6 out of 10. The bad things: it was cheesy in places, badly acted, and obsessive over the smallest things. The good things: it was decently entertaining, fairly-plotted, and the characters were fun to watch.

The first character, played by Raven, is decent. She is way too obsessive about her music. Her acting was fair. One thing I hated about her was her stupid dog, Toto. The dog should have been thrown out. I felt like the movie was trying to make me feel sorry for this poor pooch that falls in this hole and must be rescued.

The second character is kind of annoying to me. She goes out and shops around for clothes with her mom's credit card, and then cries to make mommy stop yelling at her later. Her character is horribly acted by what's-her-face.

The third character doesn't really fit in. The producer's probably thought, "Okay, we can't be racist so we'll throw in a white girl". She's some kind of a dancer, but she doesn't know if she wants to leave the Cheetah Girls. Weird.

The last character... Well actually, I don't remember anything about her (other than her high-pitched singing, which got on my nerves at times).

I actually found this movie entertaining though. The songs were okay, and the choreography was good. I am going fairly easy on this film. The first time I saw it, it wasn't bad at all. The second time it aired on TV, I watched it again. It wasn't as good. Flawed but entertaining. The Cheetah Girls is one I would suggest to the younger generation...
  • Now, I don't comment on a lot of things. Especially not movies like this, but I'd like to say what I have to say.

This movie is terrible...horrible acting, cheesy storyline, it was also confusing to understand. It was like a mess of scenes jumbled together in movie format.

The songs are just...ugh...I don't even have a word for them. They don't really make sense, and obviously this movie is aimed at 6 year old girls.

Whatever happened to the OLD Disney? Like Zoog? Sister Sister, Boy Meets World, Even Stevens, and the older D.C.O.M.S such as Brink!, Halloweentown, Johnny Tsunami, Quints, and many others. They need to bring back the good shows, and quit showing terrible movies like this.
  • Warning: Spoilers
Zero average is what almost every TV Disney film gets because 90% of them are stupid. Meet another horrible TV film, but instead of having just two main characters to burn down the film, they have four! That means twice the disaster, twice the stupidity, and twice the pointlessness.

Raven Symone horribly portrays a girl named Galleria, who holds a passionate but childish dream to one day become a singing star. I don't know why she would want to, because she certainly does not have the voice for it. Her mother is supposed to be strict but she really just lets Galleria do whatever she feels like.

The rest of the Cheetah Girls are acted out by adrienne Bailon, Kiely Williams, and Sabrina Bryan. Adrienne is supposed to be this really cool girl, but really she looks like what they call "dumb blondes". Kiely plays a girl named Aqua (who names their child Aqua) who thinks she's 2-cool-4-u, but she truns out to be a more boring version of Adrienne. Sabrina Bryan plays a girl with little money who loves to dance, and it turns out she is one of many foster children. I know how the foster care system works, and she would not live in just one home- she would have to be adopted. And the fact that nobody knew just shows how unrealistic this film is.

The Cheetah Girls sign a record deal with a man named Jackal, the latest record producer whose been playing top chart singles. Jackal looks like a hippie who wants to be ghetto and dope, but he acts more like a man on cocaine. He is the villain and secretly behind their backs turns them into toddler artists WITHOUT THEIR KNOWLEDGE. So, other Cheetah Girls kick out Raven and they all wail "boo-hoo" for some twenty minutes. They are reunited when her dog Toto gets lost in the sewer (which you would have to be an 85-year-old in a wheelchair with a pit bull to have this done). Raven must sing to the dog for it to get out, so she calls the Cheetah Girls and they all sing to the dog and it comes out. Raven apologizes and they put on a show for bystanders, which airs live on TV (in real life, this could not happen). Jackal sees this, gets mad and THE END.

This movie is put together as unrealistic as possible. They pieced together well, or else it would've been a 2.0 on IMDb. 5 year old girls should like this and little boys who play with Barbie dolls.
  • My younger sister is obsessed with this film. I believe she owns all of the books and sad enough she even owns the DVD. I can't stand it. The only good thing about the film is that Disney actually made this look like a (cheesy) movie at the theater. It was in wide-screen (which was nice) and it looked well made, but it wasn't.

Plot is simple, 4 girls want to be pop stars and turn down an offer of a lifetime. Very, very original... Yeah RIGHT!

I thought the end of the movie was cheesy about the dog getting stuck in that hole (or whatever the heck it is) and then the whole city freaking out (common it is NYC!) and the news reporters are freaking out about the crisis. It was on the dramatic side. The girls started to sing to get the dog out which was VERY unrealistic. Most of the movie was UNREALISTIC. When would a talent show have fancy spotlights that are shaped in spots and stuff? The names are too dramatic like Galleria (all I know is that is the name of a mall in Houston) and Chanel. The storyline is so boring and WAY too predictable. Raven is on of my favorite actresses and she didn't do a very good job of acting. That dumb "C'mon" has NO lyrics but "C'mon, C'mon!" and is annoying. When the girls reunite, they are all wearing the same clothes.Suddenly the LIVE news becomes a music video. The street suddenly becomes a stage and the guitars are never plugged in!

It is fun to watch and make fun of when you're bored. If this movie is about to come on, change the channel and you can save some of your precious time.
  • Warning: Spoilers
I didn't like this movie, but considering it IS Disney Channel, it is pretty good. Lately, Disney has been doing a lot better with High School Musical and Wendy Wu: Homecoming Warrior. I can't change the movie to suit my likings, but I can't so I'll just say that the dancing firemen at the end without rehearsal is not typical everyday life. The horrible lip syncing during songs was not the best. I'll leave that subject before we get into an argument. (TeeHee) The acting was alright. Raven should do more movies without Disney's help. Throughout the movie, Dorinda was left out but didn't really say anything. I hope this has affected your opinion on this movie.
  • TornAsunder26 November 2004
The Cheetah Girls is obviously not catered to my demograph.

But then again, I don't believe it's catered to ANY age group at all.

My sister begged me to watch it with her. She was an avid Disney Channel watched, and had seen the coming attractions for it. We all sat down and... my God. This movie, quite frankly, is the worst I have ever seen. The worst in my entire life. From the absolutely moronic dance moves and songs, to the threadbare and dumbed down plot, The Cheetah Girls fails on all levels humanely possible.

If I was a mother, I would not wish my tween to watch a movie such as this. In fact, I know several young girls who had enough intelligence to throw down the remote and turn the thing off. I was actually embarrassed and appalled that Disney actually had the guts to release such a miserable, worthless piece of garbage.

I was ashamed that I even sat through those two hours, suffering through gaudy costumes and ditzy tweens. Not to forget that utterly awful climax. It is quite possibly the worst ending to any film I have ever seen. The filmmakers must have had absolutely no respect for creating a movie, nor did they have any respect for their audience.

Girls, I expect you to be more intelligent than this.

    Rating: 0 Stars.

Maudlin mAudlin maUdlin mauDlin maudLin maudlIn maudliN Sickeningly maudlin!!!!

Four girls with questionable entertaining ability want to make it big in the music business. Not a new story. My daughter loves this movie, but then again, she loves everything from Disney. I think I'm neglecting my duty as a parent by not locking out this channel.

The movie is quite ludicrous and really strains the will. I failed the test and finally had to run out of the room leaving my daughter rapt. I tried not to pay any attention to the, but I can see and hear the TV from the kitchen. Several times I had to laugh aloud, not because something funny had happened on the screen, but because something so mind-numbing had happened that I had to choose between laughing and screaming. The only person not trying to talk "urban" (read: American Black) all the time was Raven Pearman, and that gets old really fast. The straw that broke this camel's back was the ultra-maudlin last scenes with the dog in the hole. I moaned and protested audibly when the news crew arrived, when the police spoke in such urgent tones about shutting down power, when Raven started pleading into the camera, and finally, when she started singing. I didn't wait for the others to pick up the cue and start harmonising. That's when I ran out the door.
  • LuckyStarrDust23 August 2003
I didn't hold high standards for this movie, but it was worse than I thought. This movie is terrible on so many levels. First, why does everyone one on the Disney channel think they can sing? Most of them can't even act! The movie was cheesy, predictable, and COMPLETELY unrealistic (seriously though, when was the last time a talent scout came to your high school talent show? Do high schools even HAVE talent shows anymore?) At the end when the dog gets stuck, 1) Why would they all be wearing the same outfit? 2) The entire city would not care so much about someone's dog and 3) The whole deal about them singing to get the dog out was just lame... Then, where did that music come from when they just all burst out in song? And how would it be like a music video if it was supposedly live on the news?

The songs were dumb, the acting was just... bad, and the plot was insulting, even for a Disney movie. This movie was made to parade off Raven and to show that they have enough power and money to hire two singers from a pop group from what? Three years ago? That's impressive... This movie was not "inspirational", it shows little girls that it's ok to be greedy, egotistical, and an overall raging bitch to your friends, because in the end it will all be ok... To wrap this up, I'm really disappointed in Disney. I didn't even watch the whole thing, and I know it was the worst movie ever made.

Best friends Galleria, Chanel, Dorinda and Aqua form a pop band and get the opportunity of a lifetime when they are invited to play in Barcelona, Spain, at an international music festival. Along the way, amid countless confusions, the inseparable friends discover that, despite their differences, they are lucky to have each other on this journey. Four different New York teens (Raven, Adrienne Bailon) hope their musical group hits it big.

Based on the book series of the same name by Deborah Gregory. This film marks the first Disney Channel Original Movie as a musical. Very cute, those cute children and teenagers, I love it, this Top Bottom is unfair, oh pity...

    Warning: Spoilers
This movie is horrible. Disney was advertising this movie like it was worthy of an Oscar. But on that night in august when the movie came out...i almost died. For one, all of the girls seemed to be selfish jerks especially raven's character. And if they are going to add all those songs at least make it obvious that they aren't lip-syncing. When the dog fell in the hole and they had to sing for it to come out. That was unnecessary on so many levels. And there were so many people there in real life you would be lucky if the police showed up. It was cheesy, predictable, and so fake. Disney channel loves to put out monthly crappy movies but this one takes the cake. If you are watching this movie, then you obviously lost a bet.
  • This is another made-for-TV film and as such is a film that is not high on intellectual output but, if you just sit down and as with Charlies Angels 1 and 2 (the ones with Cameron Diaz, Bill Murray etc.) leave your brain at the door and just enjoy the film for what it is (which is a film about four mid to late teens trying to make it big as self-choreographed (by one of the group members) singers in the music industry) then you should have no problem liking or even loving the film.

The film centres on four teenagers (the characters' ages not the actresses) but around them is the usual thoroughfare that is seen in these types of films. There was the unscrupulous record boss that wanted to change them and their style. There was the mother/manager that against her better judgement allowed her daughter and the group to almost get done by him and there was the silly ending that brought the girls back together after one was even less willing to follow the boss's ideas even more than the other three and walked away from the group. The other three eventually decided she was right and also left but by then the group was no more until the silly ending that is. Knowing and accepting that it was following the usual plot lines for this type of film meant it could be enjoyed and yes the second one was better but this one was by no means as bad as others have made it out to be. 8 out of 10 for me.
  • I liked this movie and it was alright but the plot was quite predictable. I mean, its about four girls who want to be stars, turn down a big opportunity and then split up and GUESS WHAT?! they get back together again?! how original (not). They were a little unrealistic at the end when they all save the dog wearing the same kind of outfit?! I'm sorry but that's just silly. Raven is really good at acting but she didn't shine in this movie and Adrienne and Kiely are in a band and i like their music but the four of them didn't do too well together and Sabrina is really quite pretty and a good dancer but she can''t really sing.

OK so now i will tell you more positive things about the film... The colours were really cool and vibrant and the dog was so cute! I think Gabriella's mum is a bit overprotective but i guess that is how the character is meant to be! The boys in the film are not really good looking and they were not really needed in the movie but hey?! The movie is good if you like musicals and great to cuddle up with popcorn and some friends!!!
  • I used to like this movie a lot. But once you see it too many times it just gets old and boring. The part that threw me off was the end. The whole dog thing is just too weird for my taste. I just didn't understand it.

Aqua is suppose to have a twin (says in the book). Where's the twin?! Honestly, if they're going to do a movie based on a book, at least get it right! I found other parts unrealistic. Like the whole Jackel Johnson scene and about Chanelle's mom wearing her clothes. Normal? - I THINK NOT! I also thought it was insane How even though the girls are not in the talent show because Galeria quit, they end up winning! SO Cliché! I liked the songs. I even got the CD. I only listen to the songs that the Cheetah Girls do not sing. I think it's because I've heard it too many times.

Like I said, I used to liked this movie. But that was when I was very small. Now I see how unrealistic and boring it is, and overplayed on TV way too many times. The Cheetah Girls were suppose to have their own TV show but couldn't because Raven was too busy. It would've been interesting to see what that was like but at the same time I think it's a good thing there is no show.

Now that the Cheetah Girls are a real life group, I find it insane. It looks like they kicked out the third member of 3LW and replaced her with Sabrina Bryan. Evn if Raven decides to go into it, I don't think It'll be any better.
