  • MAFIA. COM is a last-gasp effort for the Hong Kong B-movie gangster industry, made on the cheap by a hyperactive director who can't seem to make his film look cool despite how many inventive camera angles he tries. Although Danny Boyle features heavily on the film's poster and advertising, he actually has a small supporting role as a cop brother of one of the main characters. Instead this is a rags-to-riches tale about three bumpkins who rise to the top before their inevitable downfall. It's an oddly uninvolving production despite supporting roles for cinematic greats like Shing Fui-on, Roy Cheung and Michael Chan Wai-man, a film that never really gets off the ground due to the familiarity of the premise.
