    80s was the decade of silly and unoriginal films, though most of them dominated at the box office, some sank without a trace. Mad films came and some got good results while others fell flat. Even multistarrers like Khatron Ke Khiladi did good at the box office for being an entertainer. The truth is that film was fun to watch, but so typical and the action is hilarious, no realism. Ajay Kashyap was a director of the 80s and no he is not a good director. His direction was nothing close to perfection, he always heavily depended on the script(which is the worst part). This is mainly because his movies had stories that would make you cringe and turn off the television. Not sure about all of Kashyap's films but most of them were with Sanjay Dutt(who was very raw in most of his 80s films). Do Quadi released at the late 80s(pretty much 1989) when this decade was ending and Big B too was going through a bad phase with several disasters at the box office. Do Quadi was a flop at the box office, it is a typical movie with the same ingredients from most bollywood films from 80s and 90s decade. 2 robbers(arch enemies) work for the same mob boss, but the bosses son dislikes both the robbers and gets them in prison for an honest cop's murder. Both find out they work for the same man and escape from the prison van. The most hilarious and unintentionally funny scenes include Govinda and Sanju running chained to each other from the van. After many misunderstandings, both became friends(rivalry ends), and both avenge the honest cop and kill the villains. The story is nothing great, it is typical. Though it is better than most Kashyap films and definitely better than Kashyap's delayed film Do Matewale which bombed at the box office. The movie is extremely clichéd, there are many questions definitely puzzle one's mind. Why did their rivalry end like that, sudden friendship is odd and clichéd. Why does the son of the mob boss hate them so much, they do the jobs properly. In fact, why does Manu and Kanu hate each other so much, the background information is lacking. There is no valid reason for so much hatred. The action sequences are average, some of them are made by some of them are hilarious. Plus, the prison van escape scene is stupidity at its height. Songs are all fillers, nothing special. Heroines are there mainly for the songs and some romantic boring dialogs which all typical Bollywood movies need. Sanju and Govinda have good chemistry together and their dialogs are one of the things to check out. Though Sanju is raw, his acting has improved from some of his worst movies after his debut Rocky and super hit multistarrer Vidhaata. On the whole, Do Quadi is one of those films which flopped at the box office, though it flopped, compared to other Kashyap films, it is actually decent. Even for being such a mad clichéd film, it is good compared to craps Kashyap made like Mere Haque and Do Matewale.
  • I had chance to watch this movie long ago but i didn't saw it full. With thanks to today's TV we now are able to see movies over and over. I watched for 80s and for Sanjay Dutt. He is along with his pair govinda a con man who us usually lacks a job and steals to feed himself. A typical master of villainous characters Late Puri. Gulu as he is. Strong emotions of fallen apart of sister due to poverty, honest police officer and the real hero in con man. Plot is worth watching if you like 80s action. Good songs and worth watching on DVD or TV. Its not going to sadden you. Both, actors are defined in their appearance and acting. Well, choreographed old songs, of beat dialects. Sanjay Dutt is the old action king so do watch. Some pariodic songs of ding dong, ek duje ke liye and many others. Recommended movie if you enjoy action, 80s movies other than 80s typical drama genre, and Sanjay, Govinda who later after decade join to give comedies like Haseena Man Jayegi and Ek aur Ek guarah and Jodi no. 1. Watch this.

    Sometimes one gets the impression that during the 1980s and 1990s Bollywood kept making the same movie over and over again. Do Qaidi is no exception: it leaves the impression of a mix of elements that we've seen already hundreds of times. A complete déjà vu. If there is any variation at all, it's just a matter of which actor plays which role. In other words, "movie per meter".

    The ingredients. Two small-time crooks, who are each other's sworn enemies, yet both are good at heart (Sanjay Dutt, Govinda). Two sisters who become their love interest (Neelam, Farha Naaz). Two cops, one honest and heroic, the second corrupt (Suresh Oberoi, Vikas Anand). And two gangsters, an old underworld king and his evil, sadistic son (Amrish Puri, Gulshan Grover).

    The story. Betrayed by the corrupt cop, the honest and heroic cop ends up in the claws of the underworld, but instead of giving in to the offer made to him by the evil mafia don, he lays down his life for the good cause rather than selling out his soul. The two small-time crooks have to take the blame for his death. Of course, this only turns their animosity into friendship, and together they carry on the good cop's battle against organized crime. We all know how it ends. In the meantime, there are lots of fights and songs with dance sequences. All this happens in a tempo so slow that during the first hour one wonders whether there is any script at all. The film has its moments, but in general it's naive, unoriginal and longish.

    The actors do whatever they can to make the best of their cardboard characters, but it's clear that there is not much space for any real acting. Sanjay Dutt and Govinda are okay, but nothing near other things they've done. Amrish Puri and Gulshan Grover are always great as cartoonesque bad guys, but it's not like we haven't seen them playing exactly the same roles in many other films either. The girls are just decoration and don't play a role of any significance in the story. Given the fact that all characters have about the depth of a flatboat, Vikas Anand is the only one who somehow manages to add some subtlety to his role.

    All in all, a product quite typical for the mass production of Bollywood entertainment in the 1980s, but nothing that stands out in any way.
