When Applebee’s announced that they would be offering $1 margaritas, fans freaked.
The month-long promotion, which included the “dollaritas” as part of Neighborhood Appreciation Month, got people so excited that some even joked they’d be moving their work desks inside the chain restaurant for all of October.
But a couple days into the deal, someone who claimed to be a bartender for the chain, took a video showing the margaritas being made with a surprising amount of water. The Instagram post shared by The Bitchy Waiter shows the employee mixing up a big batch for the camera into a plastic bucket.

Katy Perry isn’t interested in Niall Horan‘s slow hands.
The star claimed this week that she’s had to rebuff the 23-year-old singer’s advances, telling Australian radio show Fitzy & Wippa, “He’s always trying to like, get my number, to like, maybe flirt with me but I’m like, ‘I could babysit you. I’m like your mom!’ ”
Perry, 32, did still gush about the star, however, noting, “Niall’s amazing, I love him, and I think we feel very connected in a way because, I, like, have helped him get through The X Factor to join his...

Michelle Williams may soon be joining French filmmaker Leos Carax’s upcoming English-language drama “Annette,” taking a role that had originally gone to Rooney Mara before the actress dropped out. Williams’ deal is still being negotiated, despite reports to the contrary, so it’s too early to say whether she and Carax will get to collaborate for the first time, according to two sources with knowledge of the situation. Adam Driver will star in the lead role.

People have been telling stories in order to teach lessons to other people since the beginning. As a result, it is no coincidence that fiction is often filled with little morals, which are just as useful for teaching as they are for uplifting our spirits. Supernatural is no exception to this rule, not least because there is so much material out there from the TV show having run for so long. Here are five things that Supernatural teaches us about our own lives: Be Careful About Things That Seem Too Good to Be True When something seems too good to

Ever since Blink, there has been an anticipation around creepy episodes of Doctor Who, that they will deliver the same creepiness. While some have come close, not many have managed to reach the same impressive quality of Blink. Knock Knock though promised something different, and that was David Suchet.
In Knock Knock we are back to modern-day, and Bill (Pearl Mackie) is moving into a new house with friends. Too good to be true, the house seems to be the perfect accommodation for the students, but with The Doctor (Peter Capaldi) on edge, and a creepy Landlord (David Suchet) hanging around, it’s not long before things start to get creepy.
There is a Gothic creepiness to Knock Knock, right down to creaky floorboards of the old house which of course is a hint as to what is to come. David Suchet’s character is an interesting one, and the...

If you love indie cinema, then Adam Driver has probably become one of your favorite actors over the last several years. Performances in “Inside Llewyn Davis,” “While We’re Young,” “Tracks,” “Hungry Hearts” and “Midnight Special” have given Driver the chance to show off a dynamic range, but it wasn’t until Jim Jarmusch’s “Paterson” last year where Driver confirmed what most of us knew was inevitable: This dude is a major movie star.
In Jarmusch’s intimate masterpiece, Driver holds the entire picture together with his sensitive and soul-searching work as a New Jersey bus driver and aspiring poet going through the motions of everyday life. Nothing too dramatic happens from a plot perspective, but the way Driver manages to explore his character’s inner life makes “Paterson” feel so true to life and so profound.

Is a viral tweet being made into a movie? A picture of Rihanna and Lupita Nyong’o sitting next to each other caught the attention of many last week, including a Twitter user going by simply “k” who suggested that “Rihanna looks like she scams rich white men and lupita is the computer smart best friend that helps plan the scans.” The “12 Years a Slave” star took notice (“I’m down if you are,” she tweeted at Rhianna), as did her potential co-star: “I’m in Pit’z,” responded the singer-turned-actress.

Teresa Wright in 'Shadow of a Doubt': Alfred Hitchcock heroine (image: Joseph Cotten about to strangle Teresa Wright in 'Shadow of a Doubt') (See preceding article: "Teresa Wright Movies: Actress Made Oscar History.") After scoring with The Little Foxes, Mrs. Miniver, and The Pride of the Yankees, Teresa Wright was loaned to Universal – once initial choices Joan Fontaine and Olivia de Havilland became unavailable – to play the small-town heroine in Alfred Hitchcock's Shadow of a Doubt. (Check out video below: Teresa Wright reminiscing about the making of Shadow of a Doubt.) Co-written by Thornton Wilder, whose Our Town had provided Wright with her first chance on Broadway and who had suggested her to Hitchcock; Meet Me in St. Louis and Junior Miss author Sally Benson; and Hitchcock's wife, Alma Reville, Shadow of a Doubt was based on "Uncle Charlie," a story outline by Gordon McDonell – itself based on actual events.

You can figure out everything you need to know about the big-screen version of the dazzling, Tony Award-winning musical Jersey Boys from the opening studio logos alone. A familiar piano cue from The Four Seasons’ catchy classic “December, 1963 (Oh, What a Night)” plays over greying silver studio logos. In other words, you are going to get the electrifying pop staples but over a drab, lifeless execution. Director Clint Eastwood is no stranger to music, as he worked as a composer on many of his most recent films, but Jersey Boys is one musical adaptation that he should have left alone.
Jersey Boys is probably the most beloved of all of the jukebox musicals that blended the lights of Broadway with the biggest pop hits of yesteryear. In the stumble to the big screen, though, the behind-the-music story about how some delinquent boys growing up just outside of Newark became one...

Cougar Town Season 5, Episode 10 “Too Good to be True”
Written by Jen D’Angelo
Directed by John Putch
Airs Tuesday nights at 10pm Et on TBS
Integrating Tom into the main ensemble of Cougar Town has produced mixed results for the show; while I enjoy his fantasy Cul de Sac and Jules constantly forgetting every single personal detail of his life, there’s certainly been a little too much attention paid to Tom’s life and mannerisms in recent memory. This often leads to easy, ‘wacky’ comedy that plays hard on his creepy attraction to Jules and his nerdier qualities – hardly rewarding avenues for a character who’s had the most depressing existence of all of them. And it feels like “Too Good to be True” is on the precipice of addressing this when his daughter arrives in town; instead, what we get for sitting through 20 minutes of farce is a pleasant,...

As per the Internet Movie Database, Reems had already appeared in several small stag films prior to Deep Throat. He had also been featured in a tiny role in the Jane Fonda / Donald Sutherland crime thriller Klute, released in 1971 and coincidentally directed by All the President's Men's Alan J. Pakula. He later claimed that he almost landed the part of the coach in John Travolta / Olivia Newton-John's 1978 musical Grease, but the film's powers-that-be eventually reached the conclusion that his association with porn would have been detrimental to the Paramount release. (Pictured above: Adam Brody plays Reems in Lovelace, with Amanda Seyfried as Linda Lovelace seen on her knees.) Harry Reems kept on working in the X-rated movie industry throughout the '80s. Also according to the Internet Movie Database, his last movie credit was Steve Scott's Too Good to Be True, with Ginger Lynn and Peter North,...

When you go to see a movie that’s based on a real life catastrophe, you have mixed feelings about whether it’s a good idea. Should The Impossible ever have been made? Does it belittle one of the most catastrophic natural disasters the world has ever experienced or does it act as a great homage to those lives devastated by the Boxing Day Tsunami in 2004?
The plot of The Impossible follows the fortunes of a family torn apart by the force of the tsunami as it hits the resort that they have spent Christmas at in Thailand. A couple – Maria Bennet (Naomi Watts) and her husband Henry (Ewan McGregor) are swept up by the wave and separated from each other. Henry turns out to be safe with his sons Thomas and Simon, but Maria and their other son Lucas take refuge in a tree with a boy called Daniel who has lost his family.

Bloodletting: Canijo’s Latest a Masterwork of Familial Upheaval
Portuguese director Joao Canijo returns with his eighth feature, Blood of My Blood, (his first fictional outing since 2007’s Misbegotten) a sprawling, all consuming portrait of one week in the life a matriarchal run familial unit in the slums outside Lisbon, and may indeed be his masterpiece. Inevitably, there’s no denying a comparison of technique with Altman and Mike Leigh (Canijo spent two years developing the characters with the actors via a series of workshops as Leigh does), but the film stands quite firmly as an often uncomfortable, unpleasant, and always fascinating family saga that would, in a fair world, finally open up the English speaking market to Canijo’s previous directorial efforts, which date back to the early 80s.
In Padre Cruz, a slum on the edge of Lisbon, the Fialho clan, whose workable, but makeshift daily existence is about to be severely shaken.

I hope everyone understands that this is being written amidst lots of shaking and ugly sobbing. While Amy and Rory aren’t my most favorite companion/s ever (that honor goes to Donna Noble), they’re at the top. They’ve been with us for a few years now, the longest of the new series companions, and they’re the first loss I’m going to experience live with the show. I thought I was ready for it. I realized yesterday that nope, I’ve been in denial for about a month now and was absolutely, 100% not ready. Unfortunately, the day has come to say goodbye to the Ponds, so here goes.
The episode opens with a man named Mr. Garner in New York, typing a story about moving statues on a typewriter. A man named Mr. Grayle is paying him good money to go to a building and investigate the statues.

Filming for the new episodes starts in four weeks. Woo!," Jason Bateman tweeted last night, posting a photo of himself, producer/narrator Ron Howard and series creator Mitch Hurwitz. Ron Howard also jumped into the fray, posting a photo of Mitch Hurwitz in the writer's room. "Arrested Development for Netflix. It's Alive. This is what the writer's room looks like," he said. Ok, so be excited, but keep your pants on. New episodes of "Arrested Development" won't air on Netflix until sometime in 2013 (there is shooting and editing to do of course). But the good news is that rather than...

We love our mothers. We wouldn't be here without them. As the years tick by, we become grateful for all the stuff that Mom bugged us about at the time – eating our vegetables, not sitting too close to the television, wearing warm clothes, paying attention in school, etc.
But sometimes, we wish our moms were a little cooler, and more like the ones we see in movies. Our moms grounded us for calling people names and wouldn't let us go to concerts. Movie moms fought killer robots, let their sons tour with rock bands... Our moms freaked out if we got home late, but movie moms are just glad you survived your fight with an evil wizard or supervillain.
So, in honor of Mother's Day, here are nine movie moms we'd like to have. We love you, Mom. We really do. But we can't help but love everything about these mommies,...

Did you know the #2 movie in America right this very moment stars a former porn actor in one of the three lead roles? Would you believe said movie already has the letter "X" in the title?
From the "Too Good To Be True" files (you know it as TMZ) comes the humdinger that chubby "Project X" star Jonathan Daniel Brown, who plays a horny teenager in the high school party flick, culled from his past experience as a real-life horny teenager when he appeared three years ago in the Bang Bros. production "Nerd Hunting."
No, he was not an extra, he was a full-frontal featured male lead who had his way with three buxom beauties. According to one of his co-stars (via FilmDrunk), pornographic thespian Ashli Orion, the young actor was "cute, shy, and super nervous" playing a fast food delivery guy who "became the meat."

Miley Cyrus surprised her fanbase recently by admitting she's a pothead, and even though some HollywoodLifers agree with Kelly Osbourne that it was just a big misunderstanding, others think she could be headed down a dark road! Miley, 19, was filmed at her 19th birthday party by The Daily, admitting publicly to her marijuana habit. And the feedback from our readers was intense, split between her supporters and detractors! Commenter Melika thought this incident was a sign of trouble, writing, "This is not good, she is becoming a new lindsy lohan!!!" Another reader named Phil thought it was not a big deal, writing, "what 19 year old doesnt smoke pot? when i was 19 i smoked weed." Meanwhile, the aptly-named I hate Miley wrote, "I Haaaaaaaaaaaate Miley Cyrus, But Come On! It Was A Joke, Ar You Guys Stupid?...

One of my favorite films I saw on the festival circuit last year was Sion Sono's twisted Cold Fish, which is Now Available on both DVD and iTunes VOD. It will arrive on all other VOD channels September 23, so go catch it a month early! You can score the DVD at Amazon. "In the film, mild-mannered Shamoto's teenage daughter gets caught shoplifting. A generous fellow fish-store owner and his wife appear to help resolve the situation by having her work at their fish store. Too good to be true? You bet! Shamoto soon discovers the horrific truth about this seemingly perfect couplewho inextricably weave him into their grisly rituals. Inspired by true events, Cold Fish is a twisted, brutal, blood-soaked drama that reveals the underlying insanity of an ordinary man pushed well beyond the brink."...

After debuting at Venice Film Festival last year, Sion Sono‘s crazy horror/comedy/thriller Cold Fish has been picked up for Us distribution by AMC and Bloody Disgusting Selects. They will be released the uncut versions in limited theaters next month before hitting VOD in September. The trailer seems twisted, just what I like from my Japanese horror films. Bloody Disgusting has the Us trailer, which can be seen below for the film starring Makoto Ashikawa, Denden, Mitsuru Fukikoshi, and Megumi Kagurazaka.

Talk about a burgeoning friendship.
With the pair’s film, Drive, making waves at Cannes and now the La Film Festival, director Nicolas Winding Refn and his muse Ryan Gosling will next work on a remake of the beloved film, Logan’S Run. Oh, but that’s not it. The two are set to work on a new project, wholly unlike anything the Danish auteur has done to date.

Book two of the popular teen horror Bad Girl's Don't Die series has been released, titled Bad Girl's Don't Die: From Bad to Cursed, and Zendaya Coleman has starred in a new trailer designed to promote the new novel. We've also been treated to a personalized 'making of' featurette which includes a FanGirlTastic shout-out - it's cute!
The series revolves around a group of young girls who call themselves 'The Sunshine Club'. Joining this group requires swearing a seemingly 'innocent' oath to a spirit named Aralt, and in return the girls are gifted with beauty, poise, and popularity. Too good to be true? Of course it is; I haven't read the books myself, but something tells me that Aralt is likely quite real and the oath to the entity is just a liiiiittle more complicated than the girls might think.
The books are written by Katie Alender and published by Disney-Hyperion.

From the Probably Way Too Good to Be True, But Still Cool Department (yes, of course we have one) comes this: a video we saw on Gothamist that was shot in the awesomely scenic Brooklyn Bridge Park by a videographer who claims to have accidentally captured a guy proposing to his girlfriend. And it's all there framed up so well you just naturally think this is fake. And yet, if there's even a chance it's real, it's awesome (said in a high-pitched voice). So it's submitted for your review.

It’s been a rough year for sports heroes. Barry Bonds was busted for lying about steroids. Tiger Woods was exposed as a philanderer. Kobe Bryant was caught on video using a hateful slur to disparage a referee. And then, of course, there was that certain one-time championship talent, celebrated for its ability to outlast, outwit, and outplay his competitors, who still can’t straighten himself out with the Internal Revenue Service. The flaws and foibles and offensive f-ups of our cultural idols offer us an invitation to reflect on our own moral integrity, capacity for forgiveness, philosophy of justice,...

With the summer comes the deluge of big blockbuster franchises that threaten to drown out pretty much anything else that might happen to stumble into theaters. From May to July you can pretty much kiss anything without a huge budget and a franchise goodbye. Sorry romantic comedy lovers. Sorry drama addicts. Good news horror buffs, because if you happen to live near one of a given number of participating AMC Theaters (which you probably do at this point, they're everywhere now), you'll get to enjoy the 4-movie Bloody Disgusting Selects series of films sponsored by Bloody Disgusting, The Collective, and AMC.
The series kicks off on May 4th with Rammbock and carries on through the summer with the other 3 films: Yellowbrickroad, Cold Fish, and Atrocious. Additionally, the French (non-horror) film Le Herisson (aka Hedgehog) will also be showing courtesy of NeoClassics Films.

At first I had no idea what to make of this, then I was surprised we haven't heard about something like this before. In Quilpué, Chile there is a school called The Jedi Temple, which serves specifically to "give children a unique way to study martial arts." Before you say "I want to go to there," check out more info after the break. The school's second session just started yesterday, and the school's director told the BBC [1], as a yoga instructor in taekwondo and I got the idea to integrate these disciplines with meditation and do something more holistic and funny, looking to entertain children and interpret those characters who are fans. (via translation) The school has 20 students ranging in age from 6 to 12, and uses replica lightsabers for training in addition to teaching general martial arts, performance and meditation. They're trying to hire additional kung-fu and katana instructors. (Note: the...

['Gossip Girl' - 'It-Girl Happened One Night']
Roses are red, violets are blue ... a quiet night on the Upper East Side? Too good to be true. Poor S. just wanted a low-key date with her blu-ray player (really?) to celebrate V-day, but when you're BFFs with Queen B., the only valentine you should expect to receive is a bloody one.
It's second verse, same as the first with Blair and Serena, and their default jealousy argument is way overplayed at this point, but considering some of their other altercations have ended up with hair pulling or dips in the fountain, Serena handled herself quite admirably. Are our heroines finally growing up?

(Update: Too good to be true, I guess. Mark Boal's reps reached out to The Playlist [1] and told them that both the Osama Bin Laden angle is wrong, as is the report that Im Global has worldwide rights. This twigged odd given that producer Charles Roven had recently said, as linked below, that Triple Frontier would shoot this spring. That seems to be the report to rely on now. Apologies for any confusion. Original article follows.) Kathryn Bigelow and her co-writer on The Hurt Locker, Mark Boal, have been prepping two projects. One, Triple Frontier, was in development all of last year and is scheduled to shoot sometime in 2011 -- either in the spring [2] or not until fall, depending on where you get your info. The other is a low-budget international black-ops thriller [3] that is currently without a publicly-announced title. Which film will get made first? That's been the question,...

Think about it. If Patrick Jane (Simon Baker) were kidnapped, and the only lead you had was to go through all his past cases to see who might want to hurt him, wouldn't you think he was doomed? I mean, pretty much anyone who's ever met Jane wants to, at the very least, rearrange that pretty face of his with their fists. And that even goes for his teammates some of the time! A slow day at the Cbi means a return to the good old days of betting on whatever silly game Rigsby (Owain Yeoman) can come up with. I do love it when the team goofs off like this. Even Jane is playing hooky, or at least he's going to bring good health to his colleagues by getting them some fresh fruit. Oh, how I missed the days of Jane doing nice "just because" things for his team.

From the minute rumors started circulating earlier this week about an alleged Rat Pack movie starring George Clooney as Frank Sinatra and Angelina Jolie as Marilyn Monroe we smelled, well, a rat. Too good to be true? Of course it was.
Aside from the fact that the “Salt 2” talk is already cranking up (not to mention a busy schedule that includes “The Tourist” and possible turns as “Cleopatra” and “Maleficent”), the superstar Jolie casting sounded like some kind of a secret Freemason film dream to finally complete Jolie’s impossible leading man trifecta (Brad, Johnny and George). Angie’s reps quickly quashed the rumors that she was locked in to star in the adaptation of the “dog’s-eye view” book “The Life and Opinions of Maf the Dog, and of His Friend Marilyn Monroe,” which will tell the story of the couple’s relationship from the view of the Scottish...

[Before we jump into this, I'd like to point you toward last week's Pajiba Dirty Talk column by Dr. Pisaster. It was a very well written piece that led to a surprisingly civil and frank discussion on today's rape culture. The comments went 200+ deep, the majority of which were very intelligent and respectful. I could fill an Ee list with those comments ten times over, but I think it would be better to point you over there if you haven't read it already. We know Pajibans can bring the scathing but they've also got a shreds of heart. Sharts, really. (What? Nope, I'm pretty sure that doesn't mean anything else)]
This was an intense week. I feel as if I haven't slept at all, which is probably because I've barely slept at all. I'm caught in the cold hard grip of insomnia and it's driving me bonkers. I just said Bonkers for crying out loud! I've tried everything short of prescription medication since the uppity pharmacies won't accept a Post-It with 'Two bottles of sleepy time drugs, please. Signed, Dr. Spaceman Msg.' as a valid prescription. To compound the problem, there is a cricket, louder than a jet engine, somewhere in my bedroom. I've searched under the bed, in the closets, behind the panda cages, and in the dresser drawers and nothing. It is nowhere to be found! Each moment that I let it live emboldens him. He grows louder and more confident with each chirp. Mocking me. Torturing me. And unfortunately, my half-melted brain devised a plan to smoke the bastard out.

We always enjoy Brothers & Sisters, but we're suckers in particular for the McAllisters and their political story lines, as well as single mother / career woman Sarah.
Rob Lowe, Calista Flockhart and Rachel Griffiths all took center stage last night and delivered the kind of terrific performances we take for granted on this program.
In "Run Baby Run," sparks flew between Sarah and Roy, the single dad she met last week at Paige's science fair. Meanwhile, Robert made a startling political move.

Funny story: I heard an unconfirmed rumor earlier today that Ricky Gervais was seriously considering reprising his role as original Office manager David Brent on the U.S. version later this season. Too good to be true, right? That's what I thought. Well, about an hour ago, Ricky Gervais took the stage at press tour (he's here promoting his new self-titled animated HBO comedy) and hinted that he might do something with the U.S. Office next season. Bottom line? I think there's a very strong chance that Michael Scott is going to come face-to-face with his British doppelganger, the only question now is when.
