| Who the hell is Christoph Waltz?
That's what I thought, when I heard about the cast of Inglorious Basterds. And I'm both from Germany and into movies.

That guy is older than 50 and so far he almost only played in mediocre TV series - and even there he didn't play the main parts. Obviously nobody ever noticed, what he's capable of. Now, thanks to QT, he got one shot to change that - and - let's put it this way - that was a bingo! He is the living proof of what a great caster Tarrantino is.

By the way: I think it's a great privilege to watch the movie as a German - being able to understand everything. And the German dialog is written almost as good as the English.

Now I could repeat, what many others have written here before. I'll put it short: Finally, QT is back.

Trivia

Eli Roth directed the film-within-the-film, "Nation's Pride". Quentin Tarantino asked Roth to direct the short, and Roth requested his brother Gabriel Roth join him to direct behind a second camera, to which Tarantino agreed. In two days, the brothers got one hundred thirty camera set-ups, and Tarantino was so pleased, he gave Roth a third day that he was originally planning to shoot with Daniel Brühl. Roth got fifty more set-ups the third day, much to Tarantino's delight. The total running time of the short is five minutes and thirty seconds, and was always intended to feel like pieces of a longer film, not a coherent short.

Quotes

Sgt. Donny Donowitz: GET THE FUCK UP! You're on deck!

Goofs

When Landa arrives at Lapadite's farm, one of his subordinates refers to him as "Herr Oberst". As an SS officer, Landa would not be addressed using an Army rank. His correct title would be "Standartenführer".

Crazy Credits

Both the opening and closing credits change fonts numerous times, displaying typefaces seen in a variety of earlier and subsequent Tarantino films.

Alternate Versions

In the German version, the French dialogs referring to English language ("anglais") have been re-dubbed to refer to German ("allemand"), as English dialogs have been dubbed into German. Also, in the scene with Private Butz the translations from German into English and vice versa have been re-dubbed into ironic comments by Wilhelm Wicki (which would not make sense otherwise, as both Aldo Raine and Pvt. Butz are talking German in the German dub).
