Even though it aired for seven seasons between 1997 and 2003, "Just Shoot Me!" isn't as appreciated as it should be. While it's rarely considered to be one of the best sitcoms of all time, "Just Shoot Me!" was a strong part of NBC's late-'90s sitcom lineup, following the lives of employees at a fashion magazine, namely the outspoken Maya (Laura San Giacomo) and her boss and father, Jack (George Segal).
The show's supporting cast also includes lots of great comedians, as well as a slew of guest stars like Joe Rogan, Jessica Walter, and Mark Hamill. It's even produced one of the greatest sitcom episodes of the past 30 years with "Slow Donnie," a season 3 episode featuring David Cross pre-"Arrested Development."
Whether you agree "Just Shoot Me!" is an underrated sitcom that you should check out or not, its cast has gone on to do quite a lot since the show ended.

Netflix has officially greenlit a brand-new comedy series co-created by Schitt’s Creek star Dan Levy and Bottomsbreakout Rachel Sennott, with Levy set to star alongside Ghosts and The Four Seasons actress Taylor Ortega and Emmy-winning legend Laurie Metcalf. The untitled project will consist of eight episodes and is expected to begin production later this year. What a mightily impressive line-up that is, goodness gracious.
The announcement was made during Netflix’s upfront presentation in New York by chief content officer Bela Bajaria, who also confirmed new seasons for The Diplomat, Bridgerton, and Love on the Spectrum.
According to the official logline from Netflix, the comedy will follow “two deeply incapable siblings (Levy and Ortega) who are blackmailed into the world of organized crime.” Yes, you read that right. Think Arrested Development meets Fargo — but with more guilt and better sweaters. And presumably no banana stand, but we can't say that for sure.

Welcome to It’s a Hit! In this series, IndieWire speaks to creators and showrunners behind a few of our favorite television programs about the moment they realized their show was breaking big.
A basketball-themed Netflix comedy starring Kate Hudson might seem like a surefire recipe for a hit, but as showrunner David Stassen told IndieWire, you really just never know.
“We felt like we had a great cast, and we had the benefit of a lot of time with the show before going to production, because of a delay in the room starting and then the writers’ strike, I like to say the show just got to bake a little longer,” he told IndieWire. “We really knew who our characters were, and we knew the family and the dynamics. We loved the world and the family, and we loved our cast, but you just don’t know how something’s going to be received.

Ron Howard has a pretty busy day job: As the co-chair of Imagine, he’s constantly juggling a packed slate of projects, from features to documentaries to his own films.
Turns out he also has quite a side hustle as a cameo performer.
“People are always asking me if I want to act, and my pat answer is, 'The only way I'd make time for it in my schedule is if [my daughter] Bryce [Dallas Howard] asked me to act in something she was directing,'” he tells Gold Derby, adding with a laugh: “I think my wife, Cheryl, would start leaning on me to figure out the schedule to make that happen.”
So he has been flattered when approached over the years, though he won’t name names, especially since those parts ultimately went to others.
But then there are the roles that only he can play: himself.

We're not the boss of you now, but we still strongly recommend revisiting the classic sitcom "Malcolm in the Middle." Created in 2000 by "Little House on the Prairie" alum Linwood Boomer, the series ran for seven seasons and over 150 episodes before it ended in 2006. Though it may seem somewhat predictable now, it was a fairly subversive program at the time with regard to how chaotic and internally hostile the central Wilkerson family could be.
The actors who portrayed the Wilkersons -- and the neighbors, classmates, relatives, and co-workers they terrorize -- were an amusing mix of established sitcom stalwarts and up-and-coming child actors, a dynamic encapsulated by Malcolm actor Frankie Muniz and his on-screen father Bryan Cranston. With nearly a decade of television between us and the series finale and a reunion miniseries reportedly on the way, we're more curious than ever what the cast of "Malcolm in the Middle" is up to now,...

"Arrested Development" is a cult classic TV sitcom for many reasons. Before it was shockingly revived by Netflix, the series was unceremoniously axed by Fox despite consistent critical acclaim -- leading to what was once one of the greatest series finales ever broadcast. It had a unique sense of humor as well, bucking usual sitcom conventions in favor of multi-episode gags and hidden puns that are near impossible to catch on the first watch. But perhaps most of all, it made a defiant mark because of its cast, including both its main ensemble and its parade of hilarious guest stars.
A great "Arrested Development" guest could make an episode an instant classic. Thus, we've wrangled the 15 best "Arrested Development" guest stars and ranked them based on how much comedy they add relative to their limited screen time. We sadly can't include everyone, but you'll find this group to be largely...

Michael Cera is getting behind the camera for his directorial feature debut and has quietly amassed a impressive cast, Variety understands
The actor — best known for roles in “Barbie,” “Superbad,” “Scott Pilgrim vs the World,” and “Arrested Development” — is set to direct “Love Is Not the Answer,” with Pamela Anderson (“The Last Showgirl”), Steve Coogan (“Philomena”), Fred Hechinger (“Gladiator 2”) and Jamie Dornan (“Belfast”) lined up to star. mk2 Films will launching the project in Cannes.
The plot of the film is being kept under wraps, but it’s described as a “precise yet unpredictable, absurdist comedy that moves between hilarity and heartbreak as it explores modern loneliness and the search for connection.”
“Love Is Not the Answer” also teams Cera — who penned the script — with fast-rising hitmakers 2am, led by Christine D’Souza Gelb, David Hinojosa and Kevin Rowe and producers of “Bodies, Bodies, Bodies,” “Past Lives,” “Babygirl,” Celine Song...

Since the release of The Office, the documentary-styled sitcom theme has become very popular in the US. That’s what gave birth to shows like Parks and Recreation, Arrested Development, and even Abbott Elementary. But while most shows explained the reason behind their mockumentary format, Modern Family received some side-eyes for never giving a solid reason why cameras were all up in the Dunphys’ business.
Turns out, while The Office spent years explaining the why, how, and awkward silence of the mockumentary style, Modern Family just swooped in and cashed in on the idea. And quite naturally, that did not sit well in Scranton. Sure, both shows became comedy gold, but The Office crew took some offense at Modern Family’s sneaky success.

Exclusive: Andy Richter (Conan) and former professional wrestler Kevin Nash (The Punisher) are the newest additions to the cast of Caroline, the dramedy marking the feature directorial debut of Outer Range actress Morningstar Angeline, on which we were first to report.
They join an ensemble that also includes Teri Polo, James Udom, Davida Williams, and Sa’Raya Paris Johnson.
The film follows 11-year-old Caroline (Johnson), a clever, sharp-eyed girl navigating a life of excitement and peril as a shoplifter with her mom Jocelyn (Williams). When Caroline;s estranged father Corey (Udom) — a charming, small-town con artist — gets out of prison and re-enters their lives, things briefly seem to settle. But when the family is threatened over a debt they can’t repay, their fragile peace falters. Desperation drives Caroline and her mom into one last, ill-fated heist.
Richter will play Norman Montana, a well-meaning but deeply insecure and jittery small-town public defender.

Ben Stiller's dark comedy, which made over $128 million at the box office, has landed on Netflix's global chart 18 years after its release. Stiller has been a consistent comedic presence since the 1990s, starting with his sketch comedy series, The Ben Stiller Show. He went on to make guest appearances in television shows like Friends, Curb Your Enthusiasm, Arrested Development, and Extras, the last of which earned him an Emmy nomination for Outstanding Guest Actor in a Comedy Series.
After beginning his career in television, Stiller transitioned to film and starred in a string of successful studio comedies, including romantic comedies like There's Something About Mary and Along Came Polly, and more absurdist and satirical style comedies such as Zoolander, Dodgeball: A True Underdog Story, and Tropic Thunder. Since the mid-2010s, Stiller has shifted back to television, directing episodes of Severance and other shows. However, many of Stiller's...

Hollywood is still processing the new Golden Globe category for Best Podcast and what it might mean for the industry. While full eligibility requirements will be announced at a later date, one thing is abundantly clear: your friendly neighborhood pods won't be eligible for this award. The organization is only considering "the top 25 podcasts" to qualify for the six nomination slots.
With that number in mind, we've consulted Spotify's list of the most-listened to podcasts in the United States, to try to get a grasp on who might find themselves nominated at the 2026 Golden Globes.
Many of the top content creators are already well-known in the industry, including former Globe host Amy Poehler (Good Hang With Amy Poehler), who won a trophy for Parks and Recreation. On her podcast, the actress enjoys light-hearted chats with high-profile celebrities as they share stories and laughs — no advice allowed.

Lionsgate has released the first trailer and poster for The Long Walk, a new Stephen King adaptation which is set to hit theaters this September.
This take on King's (penned under the pseudonym Richard Bachman) 1979 dystopian horror tale is helmed by The Hunger Games director Francis Lawrence, and focuses on a group of young men who sign up for a gruelling annual walking contest - with some lethal rules.
Each contestant must keep his pace above 4 miles per hour (6.4 km/h). If a player drops below this speed for 30 seconds for any reason, he gets a warning. If they get three warnings and fails to resume pace after 30 seconds, they are "eliminated."

Arrested Development, with its enviable 8.6 rating on IMDb, became one of the most talked-about TV shows of the last two decades, which went on to inspire multiple single-camera comedy series. While its last season might have aired more than six years ago in 2019, the show’s relatability and timelessness still remain unmatched!
Thus, with President Donald Trump back in the White House following a sweeping victory at the 2024 election, the fifth season of Arrested Development feels closer to home. From 2003 to 2019, although episodically, Mitchell Hurwitz’s show managed to capture the imagination of a section of the American audience who remained glued to the screens for its hilarious yet pointed commentary on America’s social, political, and economic climate.
The show, which initially premiered on Fox in 2003, was cancelled after three years in 2006. After a few years, Arrested Development was revived by Netflix as the streaming giant brought its fourth season.

Let me start by saying that I was very late to the Black Mirror party — multiple seasons late. However, I eventually dove into the deep end and haven’t come out since.
Episodic anthology shows are a truly unique viewing experience. They allow audiences to jump in at any moment, and best of all, they don’t require watching every single episode.
To be clear, I have seen every episode of Black Mirror, and all I can say is that the hands behind the series were right to get back to basics with tech stories.
(Courtesy of Netflix)
Look, it’s not that the tech-less stories weren’t great. It’s that they didn’t feel like Black Mirror episodes.
It was a nice effort, Netflix, and no one blames you for trying something new, but as my niece’s mother’s mother always says, “If it ain’t broke,...

This morning, fashionistas across the country opened the New York Times app and wondered, “Across from where?”
There’s a not-so-new fashion trend that’s taking over America, but, sadly for the fashion reporters of the media world, writing the wrong headline about the most popular accessory in politics will get you crucified by snarky strangers on Twitter. According to The New York Times’ Styles desk, ornate cross necklaces are the hottest fashion statement in the White House, on Washington, D.C. public transit and on social media, where influencers set up TikTok shops to hawk overpriced jewelry to gullible Jesus-lovers.
In another world, Maeby Fünke would be all over this money-making fashion trend — if she could only remember the name of it.

The revival series, which will consist of just four episodes, will follow Malcolm (Muniz) and his daughter as they are drawn into the family’s chaos when Hal (Cranston) and Lois (Kaczmarek) demand his presence for their 40th wedding anniversary party.
Malcolm in the Middle creator Linwood Boomer returned to write the revival, with producing director Ken Kwapis set to helm all four episodes.
“Malcolm in the Middle is a landmark sitcom that captured the essence of family life with humor, heart and reliability,” said Ayo Davis, President of Disney Branded Television. “Its hilarious and heartfelt portrayal of a lovably chaotic family resonated with audiences of all ages,...

Aside from video games, board games also get film and TV adaptations. One of them is Clue (or Cluedo), which was first announced in 2021, then later in 2024 when it was revealed to be an animated series that Sony will release. Unfortunately, this board game project was unable to leave the tabletop setting as it was recently reported that the show was canceled.
Clue's writer Dewayne Perkins revealed in an interview that the show was canceled but didn't give any reason why that was the case. He also didn't shed light on whether anyone else would pick up the project or what was going to happen to the IP. In 2021, it was reported that Fox was developing the Clue TV series, as it partnered with Hasbro and Bento Box Entertainment to make the series. Oh, Rotten Tomatoes. Love it or hate it, the site has played an instrumental role in helping films and television shows market their mass appeal in clear terms. And while a high score may signify a soulless flattening of art to court the most eyeballs possible, a perfect 100% score remains a rare badge of honor.
To appeal to the totality of critics across the ever-broadening spectrum that is the critical community (now inclusive of everyone from traditional journalists to powerful voices on social media), a show must be worth your attention for some reason. We certainly found that to be true when revisiting these 15 "perfect" seasons of TV (according to Rotten Tomatoes).

Michael Angarano and Michael Cera have been on screen for most of their lives. Both former child actors, each grew into an adult in front of audiences during the aughts — for Angarano, as Sean Hayes’ son in “Will and Grace” or the nepo-superhero of Disney’s teen actioner “Sky High”; for Cera, in the meaner streak comedies of “Arrested Development” and “Superbad.” But that particularly intense spotlight — being the on-screen representation for a millennial generation then coming into consciousness — is less of a burden in their mid-thirties.
“Almost 20 years ago, I would get really anxious walking by a high school because the kids would know who I was and they create a frenzy of energy that you’re not able to withstand. But now I feel very comfortable walking by a high school, because I know they have no idea who I am,” Cera says with a laugh.

"Charles in Charge" has a unique legacy, mostly because it actually wasn't that much of a hit when the first season debuted, and it was cancelled after that first season too. However, CBS thought the show could have new life in syndication, and "Charles in Charge" was brought back from the dead, airing across local affiliates throughout the United States until it ended for good in 1990. Of course, it was heavily retooled when it came back, with pretty much just Charles (Scott Baio) and Buddy Lembeck (Willie Aames) returning. Despite the soft reboot, the core concept of the show remained the same, where Charles becomes a live-in nanny to a family while getting into all sorts of escapades as he attends college.
There was something of a trend in the 1980s, where networks would revive sitcoms in syndication in the hopes they could find new life elsewhere, and as a result,...

Simpsons star and voice acting legend Pamela Hayden has retired from the show, and as the show looks for new actors to fill the voice roles of iconic Simpsons characters, one fellow comedy great is ready to assume the mantle — or, in this case, the cord.
Back in November, Hayden announced that, after 35 years on The Simpsons, she was ready to step away from the show and let other voice actors take over such roles as the memeable sad-sack Milhouse van Houten, the hilariously pure Rod Flanders and Corky Jimmy “Jimbo” Jones, the beanie-wearing bully who is the de facto second-in-command of Springfield Elementary’s roughnecks to Nelson Muntz. While Jimbo may not be as heavily featured as Nelson and certainly hasn’t shown such poetic depths of sensitivity and Andy Williams-appreciation as the lead bully, Jimbo is still an iconic Springfieldian who is responsible for many of the...

Watch out, Springfield Elementary students: Jimbo Jones has a new voice, and we're guessing he won't be afraid to use it to serve up his signature brand of remarks and insults, not least of which includes his classic "Bite me" catchphrase. The Simpsonscastingteamwere forced to recast the character after Pamela Hayden announced her retirement from the beloved animated sitcom last year, and, according to Entertainment Weekly, Bart won't be escaping his bullies any time soon, as Parks and Recreation actor Mo Collins is going to be bringing the character back.
Collins will make her official debut as the beanie-wearing bully in the fourteenth episode of Season 36 of The Simpsons, titled "P.S. I Hate You," when it releases on Apr. 13. The long-running cartoon aired its first episode back in 1989, and it has remained a staple on television for the past two decades despite there being several cast changes, particularly in recent years.

With a plucky, inherent likability as a performer that extends to his leisurely directorial aesthetic, Michael Angarano’s second feature Sacramento is an amiable, freewheeling road trip dramedy that rides on its central performances, courtesy of Michael Cera and the actor-writer-director as strained best friends. In exploring fatherhood, mental health, and the lies we tell ourselves (and others) to keep trucking along, Angarano and co-writer Chris Smith haven’t uncovered a wealth of revelations on tried-and-true thematic ground, yet there’s just enough smart comedic timing and dramatic perceptiveness to make this an adventure worth taking.

The It Ends With Us drama between Justin Baldoni and Blake Lively continues. While there haven't been many new developments in their legal cases, which involve multiple lawsuits, a cast member is finally speaking up.
The two co-stars have accused each other of serious allegations, including sexual harassment, defamation, and extortion. The trial is set to begin in March 2026, and, until then, the public is still debating on Team Baldoni and Team Lively. After months of allegations exclusively from Baldoni or Lively, a cast member from It Ends With Us is finally speaking up, as actor Adam Mondschein told Page Six his side of the story about the birth scene.
One of Lively's key points in her sexual harassment allegations is that Justin Baldoni, who played her love interest Ryle Kincaid, but also directed and produced the film through his production company Wayfarer Studios, cast his best friend as an Obgyn.

Ron Howard has been behind the camera longer than most people have been legally allowed to rent a car. He’s the guy you call when you need an Oscar-caliber drama, a historical epic, or a Tom Hanks-led quest for ancient secrets. Directing? He’s mastered it. Producing? He’s conquered it. Acting? That’s a chapter he seemingly closed decades ago… until now.
In a surprise twist that absolutely no one had on their 2025 bingo card, Howard recently appeared as himself in an episode of Seth Rogen’s new Hollywood send-up, The Studio. And, apparently, he had the time of his life. This raises the question: could Ron Howard be ready to make a full-on return to acting?

While the Bateman brother-sister both found early success, being child stars wasn’t always the dream life it seemed. Fame came fast, and with it, the pressures of working in the industry as kids. At 16, Justine got her big break when she landed the role of Mallory Keaton on Family Ties, starring alongside Michael J. Fox.
Meanwhile, Jason started even younger as James Cooper Ingalls on Little House on the Prairie at just 10 years old.

Joe and Anthony Russo, the Cleveland-born filmmakers who started off directing small-scale comedies and episodes of “Arrested Development” before being knighted by the Marvel Studios apparatus, have a long history of saying provocative stuff in interviews. Sometimes you get the sense that they truly believe what they’re saying (Anthony proclaimed that everything developed at their studio Agbo “has universe potential”), other times it comes off as something more cartoonishly antagonistic (like when Joe said “this idea that the theater is a sacred space is bulls–t”).
But in the lead-up to their latest, a $320 million sci-fi extravaganza for Netflix called “The Electric State,” they were oddly quiet.
There was no declaration of intent, no premature announcement of a series of interconnected movies and series that make up a vast, overarching “Electric State” mythology. Instead, there was a smattering of polite interviews and a worldwide promotional tour that included stops in Los Angeles,...

As a child actor in the 1980s, Jason Bateman showed a lot of promise before mostly dropping out of sight for several years. But thanks to Ron Howard's guidance and his memorable run on "Arrested Development," Bateman revived his career, and he has since remained a steady presence on-screen.
From supporting turns to lead roles, Bateman worked steadily and followed his passion into directing as well where he's shown the same steady hand for tone and talent behind the camera as he displays in front of it. Bateman is among Hollywood's funniest actors, a secret weapon quietly earning laughs even when he's across from more obviously comedic performers, but he's no slouch in the dramatic department either.
The result is a filmography filled with memorable, rewatchable TV shows and movies heavy on comedy but layered through with drama, thrills, and heart. In ranking his work, the focus is primarily on lead roles,...

Today, the network announced yet another holiday-centered production is underway, this time piggybacking off the success of one of their titles from the 2024 season. Right now, A Bills Love Story is on target to pick up cameras later this year, with the production crew using the team’s city, Buffalo, New York, as a backdrop, promising to include...

NBC's comedic drama "Good Girls" may have been all about women criminals breaking bad, but according to TVLine, the series' cancellation in 2021 didn't have much to do with the "girls" that give the show its title.
Soon after "Good Girls" was officially canceled in 2021, TVLine reported a surprising and slightly scandalous scoop about the show's fate. The series debuted in 2018 and follows the exploits of three Midwestern moms who fall into a life of crime after an impulsive supermarket heist leads to unlikely repercussions. "Parks and Recreation" actress Retta headlined the show along with "Mad Men" fan favorite Christina Hendricks and "Avatar: The Last Airbender" and "Arrested Development" actress Mae Whitman. The show also made a star out of Manny Montana, who played sexy crime boss Rio and quickly became a series breakout. According to the outlet's sources, it was Montana who tied up the series' future after negotiations...

Twenty years ago, NBC premiered a new sitcom based on a hit U.K. series. The Office debuted on March 24, 2005, and was not an immediate hit in its initial six-episode run. The show struggled to find its footing out of the block, with several episodes virtually xeroxed from the storylines of its British predecessor created by Ricky Gervais and Stephen Merchant and transplanted, often clunkily, to Scranton, Pa. But soon enough showrunner Greg Daniels found his groove and leaned into the strengths of his formidable ensemble, led by Steve Carell, John Krasinski, Jenna Fischer, and Rainn Wilson.
The Office would go on to become a must-see TV staple, running nine seasons and earning five Emmys in 42 nominations — and then becoming a hit all over again as a new generation rediscovered and binged The Office when it hit streaming. Until 2023, The Office held the record as most-streamed series, with more than 57 billion minutes watched.

Ellen DeGeneres and Portia de Rossi were among the celebrities that fled the US following Donald Trump’s Presidential election win in 2024.
At the time, it was predicted that she and de Rossi might possibly return after Trump’s tenure is over – like most other celebrities that have fled the country for this very reason have said – but it’s starting to seem as if the joys of the English countryside might be strong enough to keep the talk show host and her spouse there for the rest of their days.
Here’s the shocking move she made to confirm this.
Ellen DeGeneres Lists Her Last Remaining US Residence On the Market
DeGeneres and de Rossi may just be a few months into their surprising move to England – trading California’s sunshine in the process – but they’re seemingly already convinced that nothing will be dragging them back to the US anytime soon.

If you find yourself laughing out loud while watching the new sports comedy Running Point, you're not alone. The Netflix hit is "a return to traditional comedy," showrunner-producer David Stassen tells Gold Derby, and it also provides viewers with that "big feel" they've been "craving."
Cocreated by Stassen, Elaine Ko, Mindy Kaling, and Ike Barinholtz, Running Point stars Kate Hudson as Isla Gordon, a former party girl who becomes the president of the Los Angeles Waves basketball team. The family-owned business includes older brother Cam (Justin Theroux), middle brother Ness (Scott MacArthur), and younger brother Sandy (Drew Tarver), plus surprise half-brother Jackie (Fabrizio Guido).
The 10-episode first season of Running Point dropped Feb. 27 on Netflix, and it was picked up for Season 2 days later. The series is eligible at the 2025 Emmys in the comedy categories.
Here is our full interview with Stassen, which includes spoilers for the full Season 1.
