After being held captive in an Afghan cave, billionaire engineer Tony Stark creates a unique weaponized suit of armor to fight evil.
The sound used during a target lock on in Iron Man's Head Up Display (HUD) is the sound of the laser cannon firing in the original Space Invaders video game (Space Invaders (1978)).

(at around 24 mins) When Yinsen is pouring the melted palladium, he has poured it and turned the casting cup upright, but then when it switches back, he is finishing pouring the palladium again.
Part of the closing credits are seen against computer-graphic renders of armoured suits. One of the renders is an armour with a Gatling gun attached - the War Machine suit, which would appear in Iron Man 2 (2010).
