In an exclusive interview with Variety, German maestro filmmaker Werner Herzog discussed his plans to lead the 3rd Film Accelerator program organized by Barcelona-based La Selva. Herzog and his long-time cinematographer Peter Zeitlinger will be on hand to guide the 25 directing and 25 cinematography aspirants who will pair up to create short films no longer than 10 mins in length.
On day one, he will give them a framework on which to base their project. “They’re not to come with a pre-formulated plan for their projects,” said Herzog, who revealed that he was lending his voice to “Parasite” director Bong Joon Ho’s upcoming hand-drawn animated feature about deep-sea creatures.
This would not be the first time for Herzog, who has lent his distinguished gravelly voice to many other parts in the past, most notably in episodes of “The Simpsons,” “The Boondocks” as well as Adult Swim’s “Rick and Morty” and “Metalocalypse.

The title of Eric Monte and Mike Evans’ Norman Lear-produced sitcom Good Times was designed to be welcoming and inclusive. The theme song was a litany of poverty-driven adversity — temporary layoffs, easy credit rip-offs, etc. — interjected with the chorus of “Good Times!,” setting up the story of the Evans family weathering the travails of the Chicago projects with a mix of pride, determination and a whole lot of dysfunctional domestic affection.
The title of Netflix’s new 10-episode animated Good Times has taken on an almost antagonistic quality, since the first trailer was released and devotees of the original blasted those two minutes for being a violation of said original’s style and spirit.

Shirley is a biographical movie about the life of Shirley Chisholm movie written and directed by John Ridley starring Regina King.
A schoolteacher, elected to Congress. It was the early 70s, and Shirley Chisholm was also the first African American woman to run for the Presidency of the United States. A woman who ran without any backing, representing the members of the working class, the minorities.
A movie filled with hope, faith, and feminism.
Indeed, more than a racial candidacy, Shirley Chisholm based her campaign on gender politics and minorities, paving the way for a hopeful future.
A film about faith, but above all about clear-cut American politics.
About the movie
Faith, hope, and a lot of political film of good ideas, faith, hope, and political consciousness. A movie with its good ideas well defined (we don’t deny them at any moment) and does everything possible to assert its thesis.

Epic Games’ Fortnite is one of the most popular titles, and it owes its popularity to its amazing gameplay and freedom of customization, not to mention that it’s free to play. The developer also brings in collaborations from time to time that have now become a big part of Fortnite.
While the crossovers have helped the game garner more players, they have also overshadowed the main gameplay that first appealed to players. A survey from developers has now been sent to players, asking them about new crossovers they would want in the game.

The writers and actors strike is getting a boost from the comics world and a new superhero named General Strike.
Indie publisher Black Mask Studios, run by Matteo Pizzolo, is putting together a comics anthology that will be written by WGA members with the company matching the writers’ fees with donations to the safety net organization Entertainment Community Fund.
The announcement comes as the writers strike hits its 100th day. No new contract talks are scheduled to begin any time soon.
Titled General Stike: Calexit and Other Tales of Fighting the Good Fight, the collection of new stories has the theme of confronting economic inequality and, like any good superhero story, featuring new characters fighting the good fight against injustice. A bubblegum-chewing, labor-organizing character named General Strike will act as the host of the comic, threading the stories together.
The book is in pre-launch mode on Kickstarter now, with an official launch set for Aug.

“Atlanta” is bowing out with a final season and hoping to earn one last Best Comedy Series nomination after a stellar run at the Emmys.
Donald Glover‘s hit FX show, which he created, co-writes, co-directs, and stars in follows the multi-hyphenate as Earn, who tries to help his cousin Alfred (Brian Tyree Henry) make a career as a rapper in Atlanta named Paper Boi. Across the show’s run, they and Darius (Lakeith Stanfield) come across various issues that touch on money, race, relationship, status, and parenthood.
The show has moments of real drama and has received acclaim for its distinct brand of eccentric humor, driven by Glover. There are a number of people in the annals of Hollywood history that just put a smile on your face whenever you see them. In generations past, we've been graced by the likes of Lucille Ball, Chris Farley, and Robin Williams. In more modern times, maybe Gabriel Iglesias, D'Arcy Carden, Wayne Brady, or Jason Sudeikis do the trick for you. But someone else that certainly fills that role whenever they appear on a show or in a movie has to be Gary Anthony Williams. Probably best known for playing Stevie's dad, Abe, on "Malcolm in the Middle," the actor and comedian's resume stretches a mile long due to all of the diverse projects he's been involved in. "Key & Peele," "How I Met Your Mother," "Weeds," "Archer," "The Eric Andre Show," and "Reno 911" are just a few places where you may have seen his lovable face or heard his boisterous voice.

Even in this age of revivals and reboots, nostalgia only gets you so far, apparently! Yes, we have new versions of Quantum Leap, True Lies, and Pretty Little Liars coming to our TV screens, but network executives have killed off other highly-anticipated remakes and revivals in recent years. Already in 2022, for example, a Field of Dreams update struck out and a L.A. Law sequel got disbarred. Read about those failed reboots and other missed opportunities below. The Boondocks Cartoon Network/Courtesy: Everett Collection In September 2019, HBO Max ordered a two-season, 24-episode reboot of The Boondocks, the 2000s-era animated Adult Swim show about a Black family that moves into a white suburb. Nearly two and a half years later, however, Deadline confirmed that HBO Max wasn’t moving forward with the reboot. Clueless Amy Heckerling’s hit 1995 film about popular Beverly Hills teens has already gotten one TV treatment, the 1996 sitcom of the same name.

Not too many child actors have such an auspicious career start as DeVaughn Nixon. Nixon was eight years old in 1991 when he played Danny Dyson — the son of Myles Dyson, who inadvertently brings upon the apocalypse in “Terminator 2”. Nixon would follow up just one year later playing Whitney Houston’s son, Fletcher, in “The Bodyguard”.
“’The Bodyguard’ was incredible for me honestly, because it was the first time I had ever seen snow,” Nixon said. “We filmed in Lake Tahoe. I vividly remember Whitney was very religious, she read me Bible verses and sang to me.”
After roles in “Snowfall,” “Marvel’s Runaways,” and “Secret Life of The American Teenager,” Nixon is playing the role of a lifetime as Nixon’s own real-life father, NBA player Norm Nixon, in the HBO drama “Winning Time.” The series chronicles the rise of the L.A. Lakers during the 1980s under the leadership of team owner Jerry Buss.

Chicago – Meeting Ed Asner is like meeting the grumpy uncle that you still love, because you know despite his curmudgeon nature, his has passion, spunk and delivers all of it in many ways. He was Lou Grant in The Mary Tyler Moore Show most famously in the 1970s, but his other acting pursuits were just as significant.
Edward Asner was born in Kansas City, Missouri. He began his acting career in the Army, touring in plays while in the Signal Corp. He attended the University of Chicago, and joined an early version of The Second City troupe, the Playwrights Theatre Company of Chicago (Asner is considered a Second City alumni). He was a consummate character actor in the 1960s, appearing in such diverse series as “Alfred Hitchcock Presents,” “Route 66,” “The Untouchables,” “The Outer Limits,” “Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea” and “Mission: Impossible.”
