The Pacific Theatre of World War II, as seen through the eyes of several young Marines.
Originally the project was estimated at $100 million to produce, but ended up costing over $200 million, making The Pacific the most expensive television miniseries ever created by any network.
Although the Marines are correctly shown using Springfield rifles in Guadalcanal, the model shown is the 1903-A3. The Marines actually used the earlier 1903 Model as distinguished by its different rear sight.
