| It's not so bad
This film is a lot better than the previous reviewer suggests. It definitely has too many characters but the story is good and only at the end did I get distracted. It's a delight to see the well known actors and non-actors (like the politician Erica Terpstra, who is a surprisingly good actress) put in an appearance. I am one of the very few Dutch people who have never read the book, and I have to say I enjoyed it very much. Maybe more than people who know the book, because of the old problem that 'the book was better'. I simply saw a quite amusing film. As Annie MG Schmidt films go, 'Minoes' ( is much better though. It has the same ingredients but a better rendition for the big screen.
