The ‘Final Destination’ Films, Ranked from Worst to Best
Image
[Editor’s note: this list was originally published in March 2025. It has since been updated with “Final Destination 5.”]

Like it or not, 2025 is rapidly becoming the Year of the Freak Accident.

In horror, everybody from audiences who loved “The Monkey” to that very flammable fellow in “The Rule of Jenny Pen” is feeling it. But there’s even more now that “Final Destination” — the genre’s most criminally underrated supernatural franchise — has returned with scads more not-so-accidental deaths.

The aughts used to get a bad rap in pop culture, but that’s improved somewhat in recent years. As filmmakers have released their death-grip obsession on the ’80s, familiar faces and franchises from throughout the 2000s have reemerged across all types of movies and TV. Right now, for example, you can see the forty-something “Veronica Mars” dating that forty-something guy from “The O.C.” in a rom-com on Netflix that’s been wildly popular — in spite of the title “Nobody Wants This.”

When it comes to nostalgia for aughts-era nightmares,...

Tilda Swinton to Star in David Lowery’s ‘Death in Her Hands’ From See-Saw Films
Image
David Lowery has a new film in the works with Tilda Swinton set to star.

“Death in Her Hands” — described as an “anarchic whodunnit” and “an otherworldly psychological thriller” — is adapted by Lowery from the cult novel by Ottessa Moshfegh (“My Year of Rest and Relaxation”).

See-Saw Films, the Oscar-winning powerhouse behind “The Power of the Dog,” “The King’s Speech” and “One Life”, is on board to produce.

in “Death in Her Hands,” while walking in the woods near her new home, recent widow Vesta Gul (Swinton) comes across a chilling handwritten note: “Her name was Magda. Nobody will ever know who killed her. It wasn’t me. Here is her dead body.” Except there is no body. No blood. Unmoored by the death of her husband and armed only with a camera, her dog Charlie, and her vivid imagination, Gul becomes obsessed with uncovering Magda’s identity and fate.

Kaiji Ultimate Survivor: Gambling Anime That Looks Like the Blueprint of Squid Game Like Hit TV Shows
Image
So you’ve heard all the fuss about Squid Game, right? You’ve most likely binged it, gasped at every wild plot twist, and said, “Man, this is really new stuff!” Well, here’s something you don’t know: there was an anime that completely did it first, way before we saw all those red jumpsuits and creepy doll statues go mainstream! Meet Kaiji Ultimate Survivor, the absolute blueprint for all that high-stakes, nerve-shredding, capitalism-sucks brand of entertainment.

Released in 2007, animated by the legends at Madhouse, and based on Nobuyuki Fukumoto’s gritty manga, Kaiji is what happens when life punches you in the gut and then offers you a shady way out, in the form of gambling. Dangerous, rigged, soul-crushing gambling. And sure enough, it’s as awesome as it sounds.

Kaiji Ultimate Survivor: High stakes, higher tension

Alright, imagine this: the first game is Rock-Paper-Scissors. That’s it.

Andor Season 2 Echoes A Star Wars Rebels Moment That Makes Saw Gerrera Even More Tragic
Image
Revolution is not for the sane, but it is for those who have watched the season 2 finale of "Andor," because there are heavy spoilers ahead.

Much like "Rogue One" before it, part of the magic of "Andor" is seeing how much nuance and context it gives to the space opera of the original trilogy. It turns what is a rather simple story of good guys rising up to fight an evil empire into a complex tale of morality, detailing the hardship of resisting oppression and fascism, and the personal cost of standing up for others. Thanks to this show, the Empire is now a much more recognizable thing than it was before -- no longer just a collection of mustache-twirling villains, but an everyday evil. (The kind that meets in fancy snow resorts to plan a genocide and then hides it through propaganda.) The Ghorman massacre arc in the second...

‘Mission: Impossible — The Final Reckoning’ Pits Tom Cruise Against the ChatGPT Apocalypse [Cannes 2025 Review]
Image
The Mission: Impossible franchise would have you believe it’s in on the joke. And I believe it sincerely thinks it is. But when there are multiple extended sequences of Tom Cruise sprinting across elevated terrain—his robot arms pumping up and down—with no visible wink from director Christopher McQuarrie, it’s hard to believe this eighth installment has any real grasp of how silly it truly is.

On one level, this is the purest form of camp: utterly sincere and without self-awareness or pretension. Sometimes, that’s a recipe for fun. But at a bloated runtime nearing three grueling hours, only the most committed fans will leave the theater without a groan.

That said, Mission: Impossible — The Final Reckoning does impressively build momentum as it goes—a rarity in the action blockbuster genre, where so many films start strong and unravel. Unfortunately, its first half plays like a...

Image
Cary Elwes (“Saw,” “Mission Impossible”), Christina Hendricks (“Mad Men,” “Good American Family”), and Mena Massoud (“Aladdin”) are set to star in “The American Spring.” Los Angeles-based Syrian director and producer Sam Kadi will direct the political thriller.

Set against a backdrop of deep national division, “The American Spring” follows a Massachusetts governor named Dominic Nelson whose presidential hopes fade amid a polarized primary race.

“Choosing to break from the two-party system, Nelson launches an Independent campaign with an unorthodox campaign manager: Fred Hoffman, who is a controversial political scientist and his childhood friend,” says the provided synopsis. “As their revolutionary platform and unconventional plan to save America ignite fierce debate across the country, a shocking turn of events thrusts Hoffman to the forefront of the campaign, pushing both men into a high-stakes political storm that could either save the nation or tear it apart,” it adds.

“This project is deeply...

Daybreakers (2009)
The Spierig brothers are set to helm a new re-imagining of the headless horseman, titled Headless
Daybreakers (2009)
Deadline is reporting that the filmmaking duo behind Daybreakers, Jigsaw and Winchester will be adapting the headless horseman mythology for a contemporary setting for their new film Headless. The duo, Michael and Peter Spierig – a.k.a. The Spierig Brothers — are said to be paying nods to Mad Max and The Terminator in this new re-imagining, with the production even taking place in Australia, where the Mad Max movies were produced.

The synopsis reads, “A rudderless hitchhiker and a driven woman avenging her family’s death must stop a motorcycle-riding semi-immortal ghoul that feeds off the carnage it causes on desert highways by decapitating it and getting its head far enough away, long enough, from its relentlessly pursuant still-living body.” The film is written by Shane Armstrong (The Contents) and S.P. Krause (The Contents). The film is set to be produced by industry vet Chris Brown (Daybreakers) for his Picture in Paradise label,...

Remember When the ‘Final Destination 5’ Cast Spoofed ‘Saved by the Bell’ for a Murder Musical?
Image
A buried viral hit gives the ‘Final Destination’ franchise a musical makeover that riffs on a ‘90s sitcom classic and proves the slasher series’ versatility.

When iconic horror franchises are under discussion, it’s typically Friday the 13th, A Nightmare on Elm Street, Child’s Play, Saw, and The Conjuring Universe that come to mind. That being said, Final Destination has a wildly consistent track record and surprisingly continuity across its five films that gives the franchise far more depth than one would expect. Final Destination may be popcorn movie fun, but there’s no denying that it’s made an entire generation of horror fans scared to drive behind a log truck, walk under a fire escape, or get in a tanning bed. It’s created just as much terror and apprehension around these innocuous items as Psycho did for the shower. Final Destination doesn’t always get the respect...

After earning Oscar nominations, Demi Moore (“The Substance”) and Colman Domingo (“Sing Sing”) are teaming up for “Strange Arrivals,” which has quite the elevator pitch for a new feature film centred around an interracial couple in the 1960s.

Variety reports that the film, from Oscar-winning documentary filmmaker Roger Ross Williams and See-Saw Films (“Slow Horses”), will revolve around one of the first documented stories of an alien abduction and is yet another exciting film heading to the Cannes Film Market this month.

‘Strange Arrivals’ – Demi Moore & Colman Domingo Starring in Romance Based on Famous Abduction Case
Image
The Barney and Betty Hill Incident is one that anyone interested in alien abduction tales is well acquainted with, and it’s the basis for an upcoming feature titled Strange Arrivals.

Variety reports that Demi Moore (The Substance) and Colman Domingo (Candyman) will star in Strange Arrivals for See-Saw films, described as “an epic romance.”

Oscar-winner Roger Ross Williams (Music by Prudence) is directing the film.

Strange Arrivals is, in Variety’s words, “inspired by the incredible true story of Betty and Barney Hill, an interracial couple who, in 1961, became the first reported case of an alien abduction, as they journeyed back from their honeymoon in Niagara Falls. Their experience catapulted them to fame and celebrity, but underneath that notoriety simmered the truth of what really happened that night, which would test even the most epic of romances.”

“As a director, to be able to work with actors at the top of their craft,...

'The Conjuring's 'Crooked Man' Horror Movie Was Scrapped Because Fans Wanted 'The Nun' Says James Wan
Image
James Wan has been the mastermind behind some of the greatest horror movies of the last 20 years, both as a director and producer. However, one movie that got away – for now – was his planned spinoff from The Conjuring franchise centered on The Crooked Man character. While fans of the creepy franchise were massively disappointed when the offshoot was scrapped, it seems that they are actually to blame for the film’s demise – as they became too obsessed with another character instead.

The Conjuring was released in 2013, with a sequel following 2016. However, in between was Annabelle, a spinoff focusing on the vintage doll, which proved that there was plenty of scope for movies outside the main franchise to be incredibly popular. Following The Conjuring 2, there were plans for The Crooked Man to be the next adjacent movie, but something else captured the public’s attention. As Wan told Entertainment Weekly...

'M3GAN 2.0's James Wan Teases 'T2'-Like Return For The Killer Doll
Image
M3GAN, the killer doll that terrorized audiences in 2022, is returning this year with M3GAN 2.0. The horror sequel, also directed by Gerard Johnstone, will see Allison Williams and Violet McGraw reprise their roles from the first film as the aunt and niece who bond over having to fight for their lives against the sentient robot. The film lands in theaters on June 27, 2025, and producer James Wan has teased a few details about the sequel, saying that if M3GAN was The Terminator, then M3GAN 2.0 should work just like its highly-praised 1991 action sci-fi sequel.

Wan, who's also known for creating franchises like Saw and The Conjuring, spoke to Empire Magazine about the upcoming project he's producing through his company, Atomic Monster, along with Jason Blum and his studio Blumhouse Productions. The plot details tease a worthy robotic contender to M3GAN, but per Wan's comments, M3GAN 2.0 has just gotten a...

‘Andor’ Season 2 Episodes 7-8 Recap: Is Syril Dead Or Alive?
Image
In episode 6 of Andor Season 2, Vel and Cinta helped the Ghorman Front get their hands on some weapons that were being delivered to the “armory.” Things went sideways due to Lezine and Samm, and Cinta ended up paying for it with her life. The only thing more tragic than that death was how, by performing this heist, the Ghors had played right into the hands of the Empire. Now they had the perfect excuse to invade the planet in the name of maintaining peace, which made the whole act of robbing those guns to bolster the Front’s strength detrimental to the fate of Ghorman. While the Front and Vel were obviously in the dark about the Empire’s plans to mine the planet for Kalkite, it was revealed that even Syril had no idea about it, thereby setting the stage for a conflict between him and Dedra. Back on Coruscant,...

‘Director’s Cut’ Review
Image
Stars: Tyler Ivey, Haley Cassidy, Louis Rocky Bacigalupo, Greg Poppa, Brandy Ochoa, Louis Lombardi, Darrin Hickok, Danielle Kotch, Lucy Hart | Written and Directed by Don Capria

The horror genre has long embraced the trope of bands retreating to remote locations to work on new music, record albums, or shoot videos, often with terrifying consequences. Films like Rock ‘n’ Roll Nightmare, PussyCake, and Blood Tracks have paved the way in this subgenre. Now, writer/director Don Capria brings his own spin to the concept with Director’s Cut – not to be confused with the 2016 Adam Rifkin/Penn Jillette film of the same name.

Capria sets the stage intriguingly: a title card informs us that The Suicide Disease — the film’s fictional band — disappeared in the spring of 2024. We’re then introduced to Jay (Tyler Ivey), the band’s frontman, as tensions bubble up between him and his girlfriend Jen (Haley Cassidy...

Saw V (2008) – What Happened to This Horror Movie?
Image
Like the movies in this series, we will continue to release fairly regularly and find out what happened to the Saw franchise. Saw V was already planned well before Saw IV even came out as the new creators had a whole storyline that needed multiple movies to pull off. When would the revenue stop coming in for this series? How would they bring back Tobin Bell’s Jigsaw yet again after he had now been dead for a full movie and the timeline had caught up to the present? It’s time to play another game as we find out what happened to Saw V.

After the massive 140-million-dollar success of Saw IV, Saw V would be a similar experience. Why change things around too much if the formula was working so well. It had a similar budget to its predecessor, going from 10 million to 10.8 million and brought back many...

Joel Potrykus on Vulcanizadora, the Darkness of Parenthood, and True Independent Filmmaking
Image
Note: This interview was originally published as part of our Fantasia coverage. Vulcanizadora opens in theaters on May 2.

Five years after his surrealist comedy Relaxer, and over a decade since his breakout Buzzard, Joel Potrykus is back with Vulcanizadora. For those familiar with Potrykus’ work, his fifth feature continues the singular, rebellious style he and his film band Sob Noisse established since his feature debut Ape. Shot on a low budget, the film stars frequent collaborator Joshua Burge and Potrykus himself as two friends venturing into the woods after an incident has one of them on the run. They have a destination in mind, and over time it’s revealed that they have a disturbing plan involving a homemade contraption that could easily fit in a Saw film. Once they arrive at their endpoint, their plan goes sideways, and the film deals with the fallout of their actions once they return home.

Blumhouse's Wolf Man is Finding Redemption on the Streaming Charts
Image
Unfortunately, Leigh Whannell's film Wolf Mankicked off 2025 not with a howl, but a whimper. After reimagining one Universal Monster icon with 2020's The Invisible Man, the Saw writer took on another ambitious reboot with Wolf Man. The film experienced several delays and cast changes, with Ryan Gosling initially attached to star in the titular role before being replaced by Christopher Abbott. Eventually, Whannell's film saw the light of day, although its short theatrical run was considered a box office flop. Despite its financial struggles in theaters, the movie is now finding a second life on streaming platforms.

Wolf Man made its debut on Peacock on April 18 and has climbed the ranks of the top 10 chart on the streaming service, at one point hitting the number one spot. The film, despite not being one that people flocked to see in theaters, is getting plenty of attention on streaming. Several factors could contribute to this,...

Before Becoming A Horror Icon, Saw's Tobin Bell Showed Up In Seinfeld
Image
With over 100 IMDb credits to his name, Tobin Bell first debuted in an uncredited role in Woody Allen's "Manhattan" in 1979, and has been consistently performing in film and television for more than four decades. But his legacy and most memorable performance is with the "Saw" series thanks to his role as the maniacal trap architect and retribution seeker Jigsaw, aka John Kramer. "Saw" put the so-called "torture porn" subgenre on the map and features one of the most convoluted timelines in movie history, but what anchors all the twists and turns is Tobin Bell's chillingly even-keeled performance.

Interestingly, one of Tobin Bell's many credits is on the NBC sitcom "Seinfeld," in season 4, episode 18, "The Old Man." The episode centers around Jerry and the gang volunteering for a senior citizen program, which inadvertently ends up helping with Kramer and Newman's scheme to make money by selling records. Tobin Bell's...

The world of horror mourned the loss of icon Tony Todd on November 6, 2024, — but he left behind a legacy that can arguably never be topped. Even after his passing, Todd still graces the screens of horror lovers, during their endless watches of Candyman, for example, and soon in a new film that recently landed distribution. The Bunker, a sci-fi horror feature that first premiered at the Popcorn Frights Film Festival in 2024, is preparing to make its rounds. Led by Tony Todd, it's one of the legend's final roles that'll send shivers down viewers' spines in only a way he could.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Electric Entertainment has gained North American distribution rights to The Bunker, which hails from Jackrabbit Media. The full-service production and distribution company is headed by veteran producer Dean Devlin, co-writer of the 1998 film Godzilla. Tobin Bell (the Saw franchise), Chad Michael Collins, and Chelsea Edmundson...

Sinners Makes All-Time Horror Film List Less Than a Week After Debut
Image
Sinners keeps making Ryan Coogler and Michael B. Jordan look like winners as the vampire thriller keeps racking up critical and commercial acclaim. The Warner Bros. blockbuster achieves another milestone as it's already one of the most successful horror films ever, less than a week after its theatrical debut.

Per Collider, Sinners is now among the top 100 highest-grossing horror films in history, thanks to the $55 million it's made domestically since its premiere on Apr. 18. Sinners stands in the 100th spot on the all-time list, passing Insidious and The Black Phone to get onto the list. The film has a chance of passing some notable horror films as it's expected to top the $100 million mark worldwide this weekend, including Saw, Escape Room and Zack Snyder's Dawn of the Dead remake.

Sinners is coming off a better-than-expected opening weekend at the box office, topping the charts during Easter above another Warner Bros.

‘A Hard Place’ Trailer – Monsters vs. Creatures vs. Felissa Rose
Image
The distinction between monster and creature is rather nebulous, with the terms “monster movie” and “creature feature” often used interchangeably.

In the case of A Hard Place, however, monsters that roam the day and creatures that rule the night are separate entities, and they’re both out to kill genre favorites like Felissa Rose (Sleepaway Camp).

The indie horror-thriller will be released on VOD on May 27.

After a botched job leaves a trail of bodies behind, a gang of desperate criminals seeks refuge in a remote desert hideout. But their plans fall apart fast when they discover the area is home to something far worse than the law — an ancient war between monstrous predators of day and night. As tensions rise and the body count climbs, the crew must decide if survival is worth trusting each other or the creatures hunting them.

Kid Cudi and Ti West Reunite on “Neverland” Music Video Produced by Jordan Peele’s Monkeypaw Productions
Image
The Tribeca Film Fest 2025, presented by Okx, announced its short film lineup today, which includes narrative, animation, documentary shorts as well as music videos. Among them is the world premiere of Kid Cudi’s “Neverland,“ featuring an impressive cast & crew.

The eleven-minute horror-centric music video follows “a 200 year old vampire takes his newly initiated love on her first feed.”

“Neverland” stars performer Kid Cudi (Scott Mescudi), Kiernan Shipka, Brittany Snow (X), Haley Joel Osment, Cary Elwes (Saw), and Brandon Scott (Descendent). That’s one hell of a lineup and marks the on-screen reunion between Mescudi and Snow, his X co-star.

The X connections don’t stop there, either; “Neverland” is helmed by director Ti West, who co-wrote the script for the music video with Mescudi. As if the horror pedigree isn’t already impressive enough, the music video was produced by Monkeypaw Productions, with Jordan Peele serving as executive producer.

The Weird MTV Sketch Comedy Series That Alex Winter Made Before Freaked
Image
Alex Winter's and Tom Stern's bizonkers comedy film "Freaked" opened to almost no fanfare in October of 1993. Made for a budget of $12 million, it earned a paltry $29,000 at the box office before slipping into the deepest crevices of obscurity, seemingly forever. Luckily, the film was eventually rediscovered by enterprising weirdoes on VHS, and its cult began to grow. By the late 2000s, "Freaked" had been salvaged, making regular appearances on the midnight movie circuit. These days, it is deeply beloved by about as wide an audience as it will ever attract. It was never going to be mainstream; it's too wild and weird for that. And, frankly, thank the Lord.

"Freaked" is about a former child star named Ricky Coogan (Winter) who takes a lucrative financial deal to promote an environmentally dangerous fertilizer in the Central American nation of Santa Flan. While there, he, his friend Ernie (Michael Stoyanov...

Darren Lynn Bousman Teases ‘Saw II’ 4K Restoration
Saw (2004)
Although the future of the Saw franchise remains unclear, it’s never game over for Billy the Puppet.

“Very cool stuff in the works from my friends Lionsgate,” Saw II, Saw III, Saw IV, and Spiral director Darren Lynn Bousman wrote on Instagram. “Crazy to be looking back and rewatching Saw stuff decades later.”

With the series’ second installment celebrating its 20th anniversary this year and Bousman tagging post-production house FotoKem in the photo, it’s likely that a 4K restoration of Saw II is in the works.

The original Saw made its way to 4K Ultra HD back in 2021, but the sequels have yet to be upgraded. Perhaps we’ll get a box set with all 10 installments.

Written by Bousman and franchise co-creator Leigh Whannell, Saw II follows a group of ex-convicts forced to pass a series of deadly tests by the Jigsaw Killer.

Donnie Wahlberg, Franky G, Glenn Plummer,...

All 10 ‘Saw’ Movies, Ranked Worst to Best
Image
Like Jigsaw says, “I want to play a game,” we are playing a game, but this time, it’s going to be a lot less bloody (or not). Let’s rank all the Saw movies from worst to best, and no, you cannot back out. Ever since Saw burst onto the horror scene in 2004, James Wan and Leigh Whannell’s twisted creation has been messing with our heads (and stomachs).

What started as a low-budget indie horror flick became one of the most iconic (and goriest) horror franchises of all time. At the heart of it all? John Kramer, aka Jigsaw—the mastermind who doesn’t kill people but forces them to fight for survival in the most horrifying ways imaginable.

Now, nearly two decades and ten movies later, the Saw franchise has done it all, from jump scares, timeline gymnastics, and unexpected apprentices to traps that make you rethink...

Zero Movie Review – This Genre Mishmash Bombs Hard
Image
Jean Luc Herbulot’s Zero opens with a poetic metaphor about how everything starts from nothing. Instantly, it forces you to pay attention, especially since the next scene introduces the character known as One (Hus Miller), who wakes up with a time bomb strapped to him. A little while after this, a second character, Two (Cam McHarg), comes into play – also with a time bomb strapped to him. The pair get brought together, led only by a mysterious man’s voice (Willem Dafoe) issuing them missions throughout Senegal via the phone. Perhaps it’s the fault of the trailer, or even my own preconceived expectations, to think that this would be a riff on Speed, or even Saw, believing Zero would leave breadcrumbs throughout the story to a big reveal of how these two American men are somehow connected or chosen for their fate here. In the end, though, I...

The Entire Saw Universe Timeline Explained
Image
Want to play a game? Try to explain the entire "Saw" universe timeline in chronological order, from 2004's "Saw" through 2023's "Saw X."

The wildly popular and influential horror franchise made its mark with its intense use of gore, the performance of star Tobin Bell, and the many iconic traps that torture its characters. But what it's best remembered for by its dedicated fans is its soap-opera-like overarching storyline, featuring fake-out deaths, secret alliances, and a ton of flashbacks.

The "Saw" franchise timeline is so complicated that there isn't an easy answer to the question of what order someone should watch the movies in, with "Saw X" potentially setting up a secondary timeline of events that will continue to unfold parallel to the first nine films. We've done our best to take all the confusing events of the series and place them in order, revealing the hidden narrative that carries the saga of "Saw.

Isabelle Fuhrman Teases ‘Orphan 3’; “Wilder and Crazier” [Exclusive]

For those who have never hit Tampa’s Spookala, a fantastic and quickly-growing convention that’s home to numerous horror-related guests and a massive hall full of cool vendors, consider it a great reason to weather the heat, humidity, gators and bath salt zombies the state is generally known for.

This past weekend’s con saw fans enjoying autograph and photo opportunities with genre heavyweights like Saw’s Tobin Bell and Shawnee Smith, Count Crowley’s David Dastmalchian (super nice guy), and The Punisher’s Thomas Jane (returning to the area for the first time in the two decades since that film was made). In addition, The Lost Boys’ Kiefer Sutherland and Jason Patric were in attendance, as well as Orphan/Orphan: First Kill star Isabelle Fuhrman.

Fuhrman was gracious with her time in chatting with each fan who approached her, including yours truly, who was able to thank her...

Wolf Man Ott Release Date Update: When & Where To Stream Christopher Abbott & Julia Garner Starrer?
Image
Here’s When & Where You Can Stream Wolf Man Online! ( Photo Credit – YouTube )

Ready to howl at the moon from the comfort of your couch? Wolf Man is clawing its way onto streaming, and it’s not your average werewolf flick. This 2025 horror reboot takes a big bite out of the genre, with Saw writer Leigh Whannell sinking his teeth into the director’s chair.

Originally meant to be part of Universal’s abandoned Dark Universe, this beast of a film has transformed into something far more personal and hairy. Centered on a devoted husband and father cursed with lycanthropy, Wolf Man howls with tension, heart, and fur-flying action.

While the box office wasn’t exactly howling in delight, the film boasts a sharp cast and a darker, moodier vibe than your typical monster mash. If you missed it in theaters (or just prefer not to be scared in public...

Following a successful box office run, Neon confirmed The Monkey is now officially available on digital. The studio also revealed the 4K Ultra HD/Blu-Ray Combo, Blu-Ray, and DVD release dates will be June 24th.

The Monkey's official logline reads, "When twin brothers find a mysterious wind-up monkey, a series of outrageous deaths tear their family apart. Twenty-five years later, the monkey begins a new killing spree, forcing the estranged brothers to confront the cursed toy."
