Only the Saturn home port version of the game allowed you to race as a horse if you placed first in all 3 race difficulties. The feature was not included on the Arcade, PC or PS3 versions.
This is one arcade exception where the sequel/follow up game never outlived its predecessor. Original Daytona USA Arcade Machines can still be found in use today, where as Daytona USA 2 failed to make a world wide release and failed to come close to competing with the original.
Various eggs appear in the game. On the beginner race, near the mountain with Sonic The Hedgehogs face is s slot machine spinning. Pressing the start button will stop the slots spinning. On the advanced track is a couple of hidden messages written on signs and walls. On the expert track if you stop at the statue and repeatedly press start the statue will tumble over.
Is one of the very few arcade machines that has had more than a 20 year life span and still found in arcades today.
