  • Very good documentary about a great filmmaker (who, however, died early and did not make so many movies) and theater director. It is made by ine of his daughters, Marina Person, and has very good quality interviews, footage and edition. The films shows his career, his family life and his personality as narrated by many skilled people who worked with him.
  • A lovely and informative documentary/tribute to Cinema Novo filmmaker Luiz Sérgio Person (1936-1976) made by one of his daughters, TV host Marina Person (best remember for her years on MTV as a VJ), "Person" presents his life and work through interviews conducted by Marina with friends and acquaintaces who worked with him in several projects which includes the classics "São Paulo, Sociedade Anônima" and "O Caso dos Irmãos Naves". And there's also time to reveal family's peculiarities, though it's more of revelations which seems to echo a sense of discovery since Marina didn't had much contact with her father since he died on an automobile accident when she was very little - but there are friends and relatives who share to us and her a lot of the great accomplishments of his life and the impact he left on people.

The gathering of images are amazing, presenting clips from his films, even the ones where he appeared as an actor which includes a special appearance on a Zé do Caixão (Coffin Joe) film and some TV programs and interviews he appeared through the years in his brief yet important career as he was one of the key directors of the Cinema Novo movement which included figures such as Glauber Rocha, Leon Hirszman, Domingos de Oliveira, Cacá Diegues and many others. This is a special treat for anyone who lives cinema and are fans of his work, those who aren't will be fascinated with him and his movies.

Marina Person's debut on a long format and first documentary is incredible and I have to salute her because during my formative years as a film lover with her MTV program about movies she always introduced me to great classical titles while also talking about the then current releases on theaters, and she conduct great interviews with music personalities sharing nice conversations about their favorite films. She's an expert on the theme and even has a small program on Rádio Eldorado where she presents a soundtrack from movie and giving some brief info about the movie. Previous to "Person" she made a humored short film with her MTV colleagues and then moved to her first feature in "Califórnia" a few years after this project. Cinema talent runs in the family's blood, they're very passionate and curious this great art form that unites us all. Thumbs up to this. 9/10.
