Not being a fan of Soap Operas in General, and Spanish Soap Operas in particular (I don't speak Spanish!), I would have never thought I would never watch, much less enjoy, a Spanish Language TeleNovela. When I heard that TELEMUNDO was closing captioning some of it's programs in English (NBC captions some of it's programs (Jay Leno for one) in Spanish) I thought it might be interesting to see how it works. LA PRISIONERA was one of the programs closed-captioned. As it turns out, it is a highly entertaining show to watch and read. Although it can be rather predictable and relies on a well-used plot, it is well acted and enjoyable. The tension between sisters Guadalupe (played by the beautiful Gabriela Spanic) and her sister, Milagros (Gabriela Roel), can be cut with a knife and makes for some interesting viewing. Libertiad, played by the young and lovely Genesis Rodriquez, is a typical teen-ager with all the typical and predictable teen-age problems, complicated by the situation between the Mother that raised her (Roel), and her escaped ex-con (falsely accused!) Birth mother (Spanic). If you want to escape your everyday life for an hour a day, I recommend watching this great show.

smedina195020 July 2004I'm not a fan of soap operas. In fact, I only watch programs as The Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy. However, after knowing that Zully Montero and Griselda Nogueras were part of Prisionera's cast, I decided to watch it. After several months of enjoying this soap opera, all I can say is that not only Montero and Nogueras, but the rest of the actors and actresses do a marvelous job and they all deserve a big applause. I have observed that Telemundo is offering an interesting alternative to Univision's programming and that is always refreshing. Also, the fact that this soap opera has close captioning represents another advantage as it reaches a wider audience. If Montero and Nogueras happen to visit IMDb.com, please receive my respect and admiration. They, together with Hada Bejar who unfortunately is not in Prisionera, are my favorite actresses of all times.

happy_bunny0021 March 2007This is the best soap opera i have ever seen. The action, the adventure, the suspense, the mystery, its all very good! Especially the suspense and mystery! Lulu Riobueno, the villain, which is also my favorite character, is such a good actress. **SPOiLER** Especially when she is doing witch craft, threatening the Moncado family, or anyone else that tries to get in her way! And that ending! WHAT A SHOCK. ***another SPOiLER*** No matter how many times people shoot Lulu, she just doesn't die! Maybe it's because she made a pact with the devil. But i'm not gonna ruin the complete ending of how she really died. Guadalupe is a really good actress too. And Enrique Moncado (Ernesto's twin brother) looks so cute because he acts like a cute little boy even though he is a grown man. But anyways, this is a show very well thought out, but somewhat a little predictable in some parts. Like I said, this is a VERY good soap opera!
