The series showed the workings of the judicial system, beginning with the arraignment, and continuing through the lawyers process of building a case, investigating leads, and preparing witnesses and defendants for trial.
In Jerry Orbach's last episode, he was so sick, he was barely able to speak. In one scene they pulled back and added his voice later. In another scene, they changed it so he "had" to whisper, since his voice couldn't get any louder.
Prof. Norman Rothenberg:
You're wasting your time in the DA's office... I can triple what you make.
ADA Tracey Kibre: You don't want me, Norman. I have scruples.
Prof. Norman Rothenberg: They have pills for that!
