Finding her Voice: Megan Washington's Growth as an Artist
Six years ago, Australian singer Megan Washington gave her famous TED talk, revealing herself as a stutter.
This 2020 episode "Finding her Voice" follows up on Megan's journey since that fateful event: a period where she struggled with the overwhelming feedback (she didn't want to be a PWS ambassador), moved to America, briefly quit music, and started a family.
Originally terrified of public speaking, Megan challenges herself to do scary things, and starts doing voiceover work, including the popular children's show "Bluey"; that newfound confidence leads to her re-starting her singing career.
The interviews with Megan are brilliant: she opens up on her struggles with her stutter (while openly stuttering in the interviews), her love of singing, and the mental battles she faced after the TED talk.
While most stuttering celebrities had childhood stutters that they eventually got under control, it's refreshing to see Megan being so open about it.
