Dozakh review :
A forgotten film of 80s which I caught on Youtube during the Corona induced lockdown. Anupam Kher plays a corrupt politician pitted against a hero named Suhas Khandke who is its director also. The voluptuous Rajni Bala plays a high society lady who has paid sex with Khandke. He is forced to sell himself to her for his mother's medical treatment.
Dozakh is in mould of Ankush and Kaafila which released around the same time. The film was caught in censor trouble for a long time. Completed in 1986, it faced two revision benches and finally made it to theatres in 1987.
The movie was dedicated to the late Marathi star Arun Sarnaik who had a small role in it. It remains unique for featuring bold theme of male prostitute (gigolo) which was unheard of in the 80s.
Regards, Sumeet Nadkarni.
