The survivors of a plane crash are forced to work together in order to survive on a seemingly deserted tropical island.
The fictional show Exposé (where Nicky worked) is actually an inside-joke from the writer crew. Writers and producers Edward Kitsis and Adam Horowitz started to vaguely develop Exposé to switch off from the complex Lost universe.
Hugo 'Hurley' Reyes:
James "Sawyer" Ford is a career con man with an extensive criminal record, which is covered throughout the series. However, everybody except New Zealanders must get a visa to travel to Australia, and Sawyer never would have been approved. The "character requirement" prevents people with substantial criminal records or known criminal associations from entering Australia.
The strange opening credits were designed by J.J. Abrams on his laptop in black and white as an homage to The Twilight Zone.
