  • Well written, well acted high quality drama from the BBC. It is currently being shown on BBC 3 digital in two hour episodes on Sunday nights. I am sure that it will eventually be shown on BBC 1.

The series is set in a grim, nameless Lancashire town and has as its focus two policemen who take the law into their own hands when they think that a suspected paedophile murderer may get away with his crime. The story follows the aftermath of their actions and much of it revolves around their home / social relationships. The programme rattles along at a good pace and it is easy to get involved with the characters, even if some of them are particularly unlikeable. In the second installment, an unconnected storyline involving a kidnap and a rape appears and I felt that the series had lost its way a bit (I suspect this was padding to make the storyline spin out.)

This aside, the overall package is enjoyable and involving, showing that the BBC remains a world leader in producing classy drama.

One of the best police dramas I have ever seen -- and I see a lot of them. A very intense look at the ramifications of our deeds. Highly recommended.
