An antisocial maverick doctor who specializes in diagnostic medicine does whatever it takes to solve puzzling cases that come his way using his crack team of doctors and his wits.
The standard way to use a cane is to hold it on the opposite side of the injured leg. Dr. House of course knows this, but, consistent with his contrary nature, insists on holding his cane on the same side as his injured leg.

With, very, very few exceptions, characters in the series don't wear eye protection when performing surgery. It is standard practice throughout hospitals in the United States to do so. However, this was a deliberate decision made by the director for theatrical reasons.
The song used for the intro sequence is Massive Attack's "Teardrop". However, in many European countries an original piece of music by Scott Donaldson and Richard Nolan was used due to rights issues. From the second season onwards a new intro composed by Jason Derlatka and John Ehrlich was used.
