An antisocial maverick doctor who specializes in diagnostic medicine does whatever it takes to solve puzzling cases that come his way using his crack team of doctors and his wits.
On Inside the Actors Studio (1994), Hugh Laurie admitted that when he first read the script for House (which did not have the title of "House M.D." at the time) he believed that the character of Wilson was the lead. He just couldn't believe that a man such as House could be the star of the show.

House's office is on the fourth floor of the hospital which, according to the directory by the elevator is the top floor. In addition, the elevator call buttons on the fourth floor only have a 'down' button available. However, multiple shots within the elevator show 7 floors.
The song used for the intro sequence is Massive Attack's "Teardrop". However, in many European countries an original piece of music by Scott Donaldson and Richard Nolan was used due to rights issues. From the second season onwards a new intro composed by Jason Derlatka and John Ehrlich was used.
