Kristen Bell in Veronica Mars (2004)
Spring breakers are getting murdered in Neptune, thereby decimating the seaside town's tourist industry. After Mars Investigations is hired by the family of one of the victims to find their son's killer, Veronica is drawn into a mystery that pits the enclave's wealthy elites, who would rather put an end to the month-long bacchanalia, against a working class that relies on the cash influx that comes with being the West Coast's answer to Daytona Beach.

      On March 13, 2013, cast members Kristen Bell, Jason Dohring, Enrico Colantoni, and Ryan Hansen, and show-runner Rob Thomas appeared in a video posted to the crowd-sourcing website Kickstarter that challenged fans of the television show (which had been cancelled in 2007) to pledge two million dollars to fund (or help fund) a feature film project based on the show. The project broke a Kickstarter record when it made more than one and a third million dollars in about six hours. The entire amount was raised and surpassed in under eleven hours, subsequently Veronica Mars (2014) was released.

    high school teen drama for smart people
    Veronica Mars (Kristen Bell) was previously a popular girl in school next to her rich best friend Lilly Kane (Amanda Seyfried). When Lilly was murdered, her father Sheriff Keith (Enrico Colantoni) arrested Lilly's powerful father, but later someone else confessed. They ran Keith out of office and Veronica became a pariah. Now she investigates the deep dark secrets of her school divided between the ultra-rich and the poor minorities.

    Rob Thomas has created a high school Nancy Drew with an edge. She's as smart as Sherlock Holmes. Only she's a girl trying to survive the High School world. It works as both a murder mystery, and a high school teen drama. This is Kristen Bell's break out role. She really gives a funny spunky likable compelling performance. This is a teen drama for smart people.
