Edgar Kennedy is astonished that his new neighbor, Archie Twitchell, has his family waiting on him hand and foot. Twitchell explains it's easy: make everyone think the breadwinner is dying, and they'll rush to save him! Unfortunately, when Edgar tries this at his home, he soon discovers that his in-laws may drive him mad when they're trying to torment him; when they try to help him his life is at risk!

There's some family information that's revealed in this episode. Apparently Dot Farley's character was married at least three times, but only one husband wound up in the madhouse. Also, Edgar now has a nephew, played by 10-year-old Darryl Hickman.
