  • Steven St. Croix takes over the director's chair for this sequel to Simon Wolf's 2002 XXX fantasy "Blue Angel". The first one was directed by Bud Lee with his wife Asia Carrera in the lead role, while lovely Kelly Kline takes over for Part 2.

Kline plays Cynthia Armstrong, a hard-charging businesswoman who has no time or inclination to help out the less fortunate. Nyomi Marcela heads up an NGO that is championing the homeless, and this clash of personalities and worldviews makes up the crux of writer Wolf's story and moral.

The comedy antics of angels St. Croix and Herschel Savage continue from the first movie, with NonSex performer Richard Raymond amusing as the nerd who handles routing to heaven, replacing George Kaplan in this slot from the first movie. (The DVD's BTS short subject has Kline in an interview revealing that Raymond is her real-life husband.)

A strong female supporting cast livens up this followup, especially always sexy Lesley Zen and a young Eva Angelina (glasses and all). Very early in her screen career Dana Vespoli is fresh as a daisy, nearly tattoo-free at this point, in an unusually glamorous stylization for the future uninhibited creative dynamo who blossomed in the next decade.

This pair of "Heaven Can Wait" fantasies are typical Simon Wolf products, only lacking his love of animal actors that he manages to inject into many films. I've enjoyed discovering his work lately and would hope it gets an overdue revival, especially as an alternative to today's hard- edged, gonzo style of Adult Cinema.
