King Leonidas of Sparta and a force of 300 men fight the Persians at Thermopylae in 480 B.C.
A large rock-like set piece was constructed for the film in the shape of a flattened U and was used for multiple locations throughout the film just by shooting it from different angles.
When the boy was born, like all Spartans, he was inspected.
(at around 28 mins) When Leonidas asks his 300 what their profession is on the hill, his booming voice leaves a very short echo, indicating obviously that the scene was filmed inside of a small studio as opposed to the open mountain terrain shown in the image.
The opening Warner Bros., Legendary Pictures and Virtual Studios logos are made of stone and appear in front of a brown, cloudy sky.
