| Autobots! Rollout!
Transformers wastes no time getting right to the incredible robot action we're all hungering for, and rushes directly from the credits to eye-popping, rampant robot destruction. What really holds the film together though is that even when it's knee deep in save the world, all out, brawling in the streets, giant freaking robot war, at the core of everything is the simple story of a boy and his first car. For a man, there are few things more powerful than the relationship he has with his first automobile, and it's no different for Sam Witwicky (Shia LaBeouf).

Transformers is a truly great summer movie. As an action movie it's a huge success; with awe-inspiring effects, tremendous set pieces and jaw-dropping things which you have absolutely never seen before in any other movie. Transformers brings out your inner child from when you first watched the old fashioned animated series on t.v. screen, but only this time it's on the main screen in a movie theatre. This movie is truly fantastic and different from any other movies that I've seen.

Trivia

Optimus Prime's original alternate mode in The Transformers (1984) was a cabover truck, but this was revised to a bull-nosed Peterbilt truck. This was because test designs showed a cabover could only disguise a twenty-foot robot, and so the larger Peterbilt truck was chosen to make Prime taller (at thirty-two feet tall). The truck was also colored blue with red flames (like Rodimus Prime, Optimus' successor), to give Prime a distinct look.

Quotes

Optimus Prime: Before time began, there was the Cube. We know not where it comes from, only that it holds the power to create worlds and fill them with life. That is how our race was born. For a time, we lived in harmony. But like all great power, some wanted it ...

Goofs

(at around 17 mins) When Sam is getting ready for the party, he says, "Okay Mojo, ready for your pain pills?" in a black t-shirt. The scene changes to him in front of a mirror, and you see him in his party wear (to which he added a short sleeved black striped button-down) and he then goes to his t-shirt again, giving Mojo his medication.

Crazy Credits

SPOILER: There are three scenes in the closing credits:

  • the first two scenes are of Ron and Judy Witwicky, who were told about the Transformers, trying to bluff their way through an interview about the recent alien events.
  • The third and final scene is of Starscream flying into space.

Alternate Versions

The full screen version shown on TV adds two additional cuts to the scene where Scorponok knocks over a water tower in the desert. After the tower is knocked down, Donnelly ('Zack Ward') asks what happened, it cuts to Fig (Amaury Nolasco) who responds in Spanish, then cuts back again to Donnelly. This was most likely done because both actors are visible in the shot in wide screen, but in full screen Fig is not visible.
