Evolved from live broadcasts of computer user group meetings by KCSM, the local station at San Mateo Community College. Jim Warren of the West Coast Computer Faire acted as host for these early airings from 1981 until 1983, when the show started formally taping for broadcast on PBS with Stewart Cheifet and Gary Kildall assuming hosting duties.
