Clunky Brad feature wastes top talent
Brad Armstrong throws good taste to the winds in "Sweatshop", a stupid drama of Asian women working in an L.A. clothing factory and speaking in archaic pidgin English. Leilani Lei is affecting in the starring role, even earning an award nomination for her turn, but she can't save this junker.

Randy Spears is wearying as a one-note slime-ball of a boss, treating Lei to constant sexual harassment, and being verbally abusive to boot. He sort of gets his comeuppance when Steven St. Croix inherits the business upon the death of his uncle, but director Brad has Randy doing the lion's share of the sex scenes, giving his character far too much pleasure for this viewer's liking.

Also getting his licks in is Trevor Zen as Randy's subordinate, humping luscious Katsumi after hours. The French/Vietnamese import lady delivers her patented anal sex thing, and is permitted to speak normally, with her lilting French accent, while poor Lei has to putter along with imbecilic dialog. Asia Carrera as Steven's haughty wife is of course sexy in a thankless role, touted by Brad in the BTS short subject as her finale to the Adult business, i.e., reason enough to buy the video (hardy har-har).

Tossed into the mix in a Steven (smitten at the sight of the Asian sweatshop beauties) erotic dream are Nautica Thorn and Wicked contract superstar Stepanie Swift giving Sapphic sustenance to Kaylani with many a dildo deployed. A brief spot for Ice LaFox has her giving already oversexed Spears a blow-job in his office in a dumb slapstick scene.

Script credited to "Tommy Chong" (another laugh) is quite poor in both dialog and unfurling/knitting together of the very cornball plot. It's just an excuse for what Brad terms an "All-Asian Spectacular", though hardly one of his overproduced so-called blockbuster productions.
