Andy Goodman : Tornadoes destroy Las Vegas, we got hurricane force winds in the Gulf. We miss 'em both?

Chris Haywood : What can I say? We were caught off guard.

Andy Goodman : People are dead because we failed. But from now on, if a dog farts in Duluth, I expect to somebody to know about it!
Chris Haywood : Hey, has anything this big ever hit Chicago?
Andy Goodman : Did you check those dopplers again?

Chris Haywood : Yeah, it's weird. The signature looks more like tornado alley than the far west.

Andy Goodman : Damage reports put it at F5. It's almost up to Oklahoma City in '99.

Chris Haywood : What are the odds of tornadoes hitting Vegas?

Andy Goodman : Huh. About the same as getting dealt five royal flushes in a row. Which is no excuse, people. We should've been on top of this. We got to get these warnings out faster. Heat waves, droughts, wildfires, tornadoes where they're not supposed to be. I'm getting out of this place in the nick of time.

Chris Haywood : Yeah, you said that, not me.

Andy Goodman : You sure you really want this job?

Chris Haywood : I go where I'm assigned.

Andy Goodman : You know what makes a really great forecaster, Chris?

Chris Haywood : No, but I'm afraid you're about to tell me.

Andy Goodman : That's right. Instinct.

Chris Haywood : Well, I'll take reason over instinct.

Andy Goodman : Reason, my ass. What's reasonable about tornadoes in Las Vegas?
