In the opening sequence, Guy Fawkes is hanged with his hands tied behind him, dropping with the rope breaking his neck. This might have happened in the USA in the 19th or 20th century. As quoted in Wikipedia - "Immediately before his execution on 31 January, Fawkes jumped from the scaffold where he was to be hanged and broke his neck, thus avoiding the agony of the mutilation that followed."
The Warner Bros, DC Comics, Vertigo and Silver Pictures logos are on black-and-white film, and are accompanied by part of the 1812 Overture, thus forming the impression that V is starting a transmission.
