  • In episode 49, it is implied that a boy sees a man RAPING a woman (not having sex). He says she has to do what he says because he paid her but she doesn't like the place, he takes his trousers off and talks about his "superiority" while she complains, he grabs her head and we see very brief thrusting and a shocked look given by the boy. She's left unconscious.

  • There are seen a few photos containing male upper nudity but nothing more.
  • A stripper is shown dancing in a strip club but is fully dressed as it turns into a fight scene.

Violence & Gore

  • A man is shot in the head 3 times. A little blood is shown and so is the aftermath.
  • There is a shootout where several men are shot. It's brief but blood is shown. Since it's animated, it's not all that disturbing.
  • There is a torture scene where a man's fingernails are clipped too short. It's cringe worthy, stress inducing, and shows some blood.
  • A man is shot in both his kneecaps. More blood than previous instances.
  • There is a shootout which is shown in two episodes. Men are shot in the head and streams of blood come out. It's the most blood shown apart from aftermath murders.
  • Expect to see lots of fantasy violence and scary imagery that includes murder and death, blood, use of guns and knives, stabbings, suicide, and car accidents. There are also a lot of medical themes and scenes that depict operations. Though the series does have a lot of blood, the horror is more psychological.
  • There are gunfights with blood often throughout the show.
  • The main character is a surgeon and operates on people. Sometimes blood can be seen on his tools.
  • Sometimes we see the aftermath of the mass murderer's killings. Blood is clearly shown on the victims.
  • Most of the time when someone gets shot, the screen angle changes so that you can't actually see anyone get shot, but the scenes keep their effect of suprise.
  • At one point a character gets into a fistfight with someone. The building he's in then burns down. However, no one dies.
  • The whole series is about a man hunting down a murderer.
  • There's a fair amount of blood throughout the show.
  • At one point one of the main background characters kills many people with his bare hands, although the fight isn't shown, the aftermath is shown. There are many dead bodies, and there is a lot of blood.

Profanity

  • Bastard, hell, God (used in exclamation) and dammit are sometimes used, but never constantly.. In the dub there are two uses of both b*tch and ass. Some episodes do not feature profanity at all. The subtitled version could vary depending on the translator.

Alcohol, Drugs & Smoking

  • Characters drink alcohol and smoke in multiple scenes.
  • Around the beginning of the show a character gets drunk.
  • Three characters around the beginning of the show eat some drugged candy that later kills them.
  • Characters smoke throughout the show, however none of the main characters do.
  • One of the main characters becomes an alcoholic and drinks throughout the show.

Frightening & Intense Scenes

  • A young child tries to jump off a bridge and kill himself.
  • The villain, Johan Liebert, is a deeply disturbing and frightening character, being a complete psychopath who manipulates everyone around him and kills innocents for fun, and his eerily calm demeanor and utter depravity make him even creepier.
  • Rated R for disturbing violent content and behavior, bloody images, some sexuality, and nudity.
  • Throughout the series, many people get negatively affected by Johan's (antagonist's/villain's) presence, which radically alters their psychological pattern towards life in a very strong manner by making them either become serial killers or commit suicide.
  • Near the end of the show, there is a massacre in a town that used to be peaceful. This is depicted in about 2-3 episodes, and all of them are very intense, shocking and disturbing.
  • Though the main antagonist has a very small amount of screentime, his effect on the audience amplifies, as his scenes are breath-taking and stress-inducing. He is, however, the focus the anime and affects all of the characters in the show.
  • The entire series is based on the idea of fear, manipulation, and human corruption. The main villain has quite a twisted mind that can be very hard to understand sometimes. The main character progressively becomes less of a hero in pursuit to kill the villain.
  • Around the beginning of the show some people are shot, and their children are taken into the hospital. The girl (both around age 12) is seen wandering around the hospital, whispering the word 'kill'. This could be disturbing to some.
  • The scenes related to an orphanage massacre can be disturbing or frightening to some.
  • One of the main background characters is strapped to a chair and tortured - his nails are cut past the point that they should be cut, and he is beaten. This can be very disturbing to audiences who are sensitive to torture.
  • Interviews with other murderers can be weird sometimes, such as one who believes he is a vampire and sucks people's blood when he kills them.
  • This show covers themes that are quite dark, such as child abuse, human experimentation, mass murder, torture, war, loss, insanity, revenge, and questions what the right thing is to do in situations where it may seem obvious, or where there may be no right thing to do. It is very dark and twisted.
  • The show is incredibly creepy and suspenseful, as the main villain is a psychopathic mass murderer.
