- Jesus Christ is the center of the worldwide Christian faith. Is there any historical, archaeological, or scientific confirmation that Jesus did in fact live and grow to manhood in the obscure Judean village of Nazareth? Is Jesus Christ the living Son of God? Or a myth sustained for 2,000 years? The astonishing evidence for the life of Christ is explored in light of recent discoveries.—Anonymous
- There are at least three episodes of this Made for TV seies.
This synopsis will cover two of the episodes with which I am familiar.
One episode concentrates on the famous scene from Cecil B De Mille's last version of "The Ten Comandments" where Moses parts the Red Sea. Tthis was not an attempt to deny that the miracle hapened, but to show the mechanism behind it.
The program reveals that there is an underwater cliff that runs all the way across the Red Sea. When the wind bows with sufficient strength, the Venturi Effect causes the water at the top of the cliff to pile up so that land really does appear at what appears to be the bottom of a trough in the water. The explanation is that the miracle was not that the water rolled back, but that it rolled back at exactly the right time and STAYED back long enough for the Israelites to pass over to the other side. The production goes on to say that one can occasionally see the same thing happen today - the danger is that the wind rarely blows long enough for anyone to cross all the way over. Anyone attempting to do so is likely to get caught in the back flow when the wind quits - exactly as was described as the fate of Rameses's army.
In another episode the series explains HOW the walls of Jerico came tumbling down. Again, this was not an attempt to deny that the miracle hapened, but to show the mechanism behind it.
The story explains in detail how the walls were (or may have been?) built and shows the weakness of the geological underpinings. The narrative then goes on to explain how the sound of the trumpets and the stamping of the feet of the marchers may have caused a harmonic resonance to be set up, which caused the walls to collapse.
