Jimmie has invented an airplane in the form of a bird. On his first trip he takes Vera and her father, a research worker for a museum, on a trip to the South Sea Islands, in search for a sacred monkey which Vera's father wishes to add to the museum collection. When Jimmie and his passengers arrive at the island, the natives, who are cannibals, are celebrating their third day without food. When they see the white people coming they bow and rejoice before them, thinking that before the day is over they'll eat again. The two men and Vera think the cannibals are really glad to see them and that it will be an easy matter to find the monkey and escape. However, the natives are delighted in a different way, for they think there will be white meat on the bill of-fare that evening. They immediately get the fires ready and place the white folks in separate huts. From this point on there are many chases all Over the cannibal village until Jimmie finally does escape and after knocking out the chief he puts on his clothes, blackens his own face and starts out to rescue Vera and Billy before the chief regains consciousness or some of the natives discover his impersonation. After some narrow escapes, Jimmie succeeds in freeing Vera and her father. They grab the sacred monkey and run for the plane. In the meantime the chief comes to and staggers out of the hut just as the rest of the cannibals begin to doubt Jimmie. However, Jimmie jumps and grabs the wing of the plane just as Vera starts off, leaving the natives gesturing and yelling on the ground below.
