Terminator Salvation is a great sequel to T1 and T2
Wow, this is a decent film- I was thoroughly entertained and this despite going in with low expectations. McG manages a great color palette and the action sequences are awesome. Sure, this isn't as great as The Terminator or Terminator 2 but it is surely better than T3 and a lot better than the other works in the cannon. Both Bale and Worthington are fantastic. Go watch Terminator salvation now.

Did You Know?

Arnold Schwarzenegger's favorite moments from the Terminator franchise are when the Terminator tries to be human because it's something funny and not just action and violence and the most important thing to the Terminator is to blend in, and when he does he fails miserably and that always gets a big laugh from the audience.

Dr. Serena Kogan: Marcus. How are you?
Marcus Wright: Ask me in an hour.

SPOILER: (at around 1h 30 mins) In the final scenes after Marcus smashes the display screen, he exits the control room, In the background is gunfire-marked paneling. During the next scene, the Terminator has Kyle on a table being put into a machine. The gun fight takes places and the currently unmarked paneling gets shot up. It is clear that the marks created from the gun fight are the same as the marks behind Marcus from the earlier scene. The plot locations are supposedly different, so the scenery was obviously reused but gunfight scene must have taken place before the scene with Marcus. As no fighting had taken place near the control room, the paneling behind Marcus should have been unscathed.

Alternate Versions

Released on Blu-Ray as an R-rated director's cut with about three minutes of extra footage:

  • When John Connor and company infiltrate the underground base, a sentry robot pops up and is quickly dispatched. This scene was present in the teaser trailer.
  • Extra dialogue between Connor and Ashdown on the submarine. Ashdown points a gun at Connor's head and says he doesn't believe in prophecy.
  • Blair bathes in the rain for a moment then sees Marcus looking at her. She covers herself and Marcus turns away.
  • The scene with the two marauders is more violent. Marcus is actually showing stabbing one of them in the shoulder with a screwdriver, the fistfight with the second guy is longer, and a bloody impact is seen when Blair shoots one of the marauders in the leg.
  • Longer dialogue from Blair during the campfire scene with Marcus.
  • The sequence of the man being shot trying to scale the fence at the Skynet processing center is slightly longer.
  • John Connor's speech to the remaining resistance forces is extended.
  • The fight between the T-800 and Marcus is a few seconds longer.
  • Marcus trying to revive John Connor is slightly longer.
