  • I am 22 and I thought that a ABC family show would cater to the teens and of course it does, but I enjoy it nonetheless. Perhaps it is because it is the summer and there is nothing on TV but I really enjoy this show. And that says a lot considering I am not a horse fan (that is my sister!) I enjoy the dynamics and can forgive all the inaccuracies in the horsemanship, mostly due to the fact that I don't care. I watch this show for the relationships and not the horses. The whole situation with Wildfire only responding to Kris may be a bit far fetched but so is so many things on TV. This show has promise and even someone in their 20s can enjoy it. The acting is good and I hope that this show picks up. Watch it, you just might be surprised. There is nothing better on TV anyway!
  • "Wildfire" isn't exactly a breakthrough teen drama series, by any means. Much of the dialogue wouldn't be out of place in an episode of "Dawson's Creek" or "The OC," and neither, to some extent, would be the story "Wildfire" tells. And yet, the show has a real charm that makes it just fun to watch.

Kris Furillo (Genevieve Cortese) is a girl who seems to specialize in being in the wrong place at the wrong time. When we first meet her, she's a prisoner at a juvenile detention facility, paying for the crime of helping to steal a car and resisting arrest. In her time in prison, she's not only "learned a little discipline" (which, after watching a couple episodes of the show, really makes you wonder what she was like BEFORE she got locked up) but also learned to ride and love horses, with the help of Pablo Betart (Greg Serano). Betart, an ex-con himself, also works at a horse ranch called Raintree, which is owned by the Ritters: Jean, Jean's father, and Jean's two sons, Matt and Todd. As Kris settles into life at Raintree, she makes really good friends -- Pablo, the Ritters (Matt in particular), Matt's friend, Junior Davis -- and really bad enemies -- Matt's ex-girlfriend Dani Davis and her friends, and others that seem to just keep on coming. Watch as Kris faces challenges and learns more about horses, and herself.

It's a guilty pleasure show, but it's definitely a pleasure. "Wildfire" airs Monday nights at 8pm on ABC family. The DVDs for the first season are available in some stores, and episodes are easy to buy on iTunes, for $1.99 each!

This show is worth watching if like me you love horses. I have always loved horses since I was a little girl, and for some reason most girls like horses at some point so I'm sure I'm not alone there. The acting in the show is decent, most shows like this have terrible acting so it was good to see it was actually decent in this. The idea behind the show is simple. In episode one a horse is rescued from certain death and they decide to keep it and every week there is more animal love with animals being saved or healed or rescued from cruelty or death or disease. It pulls at the heart strings but that is what the show is supposed to do obviously. There is a lot of romance in the show too. Definitely a chick flick type of show but it's worth watching.
  • This is the best show I have ever seen! I'd recommend it to any teenager out there who loves a lot of drama in their t.v. shows! The plot line is so good, it would make a show even with bad actors and actresses look good! The cast is also amazing! Genevive COrtese, Ryan Sypek, Micah ALberti, Nana Visitor, James Read, Nicole Tubolia, Arye Gross, Greg Serano, Dennis Weaver, and Andrew Hoeft are all really amazing actors and actresses; as well as all of the short term and long term characters on this show. Wildfire and all the other horses are great. The characters who ride the horses are marvelous. In my opinion, everyone should watch the best show on Earth, and Wildfire is it!
  • I'm 22 and certainly not a girly girl. This was a friends suggestion and I started watching it with no small amount of trepidation.

And I was very happily surprised! The characters have more depth than I've come to expect from teen dramas and having watched a several episodes of the O.C and various series of a similar vein I have to say - This blows them out of the water.

The main character is also a fabulous role model for any younger teens watching the series, its truly refreshing to see a strong character with a bit of bite and without the vain flailing most series seem to give their female leads.

The biggest praise I can give is to tell anyone reading to -watch- it. No matter age or anything else, give it a try.

    yay!
I love this show. It is kind of like "The O.C.", except for a family crowd. And a little gender role reversal. It's great. The guys are cute, and the people have issues. That is all I ask for in a good TV show. I hope that the story lines maintain their greatness. So far, the quality hasn't declined, like many other shows I have seen. I will continue to watch this show, and I encourage everyone else to watch it, too. I'm glad that I can watch it with my parents without having to have any embarrassing talks about weird stuff that I get when I watch "The O.C." And I also love the horses. They are so beautiful. Especially Wildfire himself. I love this show! Yay!

I have watched this show since the first episode and i was instantly hooked. It is full of drama and romance and everything else a good show should have. I can never wait to see what the next episode will be and see what problems will arise. The acting could improve a little bit but it gets the job done and the point across. I highly recommend this show and after one episode.the show also is great for people that love or even just like animals. It mainly focuses on a horse named, wildfire. In the first episode the main character, Kris, saved the horse from being killed. So the show also tells people to protect animals and that we should all be kind to the animals. Also the horse, wildfire, makes you just fall in love with it with one glance. The producers picked a great horse to play the part. I'm sure you too will agree with me on saying that this show is great.

I'm on season 1 and the acting is horrible but the storyline makes watch and now I can't stop.
  • The production values were low at first but as it goes on, it gets so much better. It is a great story and reminded me of Heartland which I love. Highly recommend for all ages.

As for a teenaged "chick flick" it meets all the requirements; hot guys, cool chicks, rebellion, romance, drama, romantic competition, implied sex and, of course, horses! Acting is marginal at times but that has more to do with writing and character development. (one dimensional; ie Is Pablo ever in a good mood? Is Matt always uptight and worried?) Chris is a study in narcissistic sociopathy (but after all she is a criminal - and they don't change. Right?). Still I watched, and watched. So will you. As for accuracy? Maybe the scenery. but the horse racing culture could not be further off the mark - Ask Triple Crown winner Justify's people if they use him s a trail-riding horse in between races? What are Ritter's or Davis' racing colors? Jockey silks DO NOT change from race to race. I could go on but you get it. But - I kept watching and watching, and so will you!
  • Warning: Spoilers
I spent the entire season wanting Kris to end up with Matt.

In fact, after midway through season two when it seemed as though that wasn't going to happen, I stopped watching the show. Junior bored me, and I couldn't understand why the writers devoted so much airtime to his stupid little 'finding himself' journey. Dani never stopped bothering me with her 'spoiled little rich girl traumatized by Daddy's lies, no one else's needs matter as much as mine do' routine. Matt frustrated me with his immaturity and unwillingness to "man up" and take some responsibility for his own life.

I have to say, the only part of the show I missed was the horses.

I've recently started to catch up on ancient episodes of this show, and I have to say, I am less than impressed. I still enjoy the horses, the actresses and actors are excellent, and there is the occasional funny line. The music's nice.

I was two inches from tearing my hair out over the whole 'Kris becomes the other woman' storyline. I don't believe for a second that two people who've been living alongside one another and spending most of every day together would suddenly "realize" they've had feelings for each other all this time. I don't believe that they would then repress those feelings, avoid eye contact and act totally awkward and embarrassed around each other despite considering each other among their "best friends." I don't believe that Kris would knowingly have sex with a guy who had a live-in girlfriend--certainly not without first at least asking if he was planning on leaving her!

Basically, I think the writers so butchered this storyline that by the time they were through, everyone hated the idea of Matt and Kris because it brought up some of the worst writing to ever grace the silver screen.

Also, with Kris running after Junior and Dani like the little do-gooder, people-pleaser she never was before season three, I wanted to smack her.

Junior reacting like a kicked puppy dog whose favorite bone had been stolen upon finding out that his friend, who had always had feelings for a certain ex-girlfriend of his, finally had a shot with her...eew. What a slimeball.

Kris and Matt had no obligation to tell Junior anything about their barely-existing romance at that point. So they slept together once--big deal. What, was Kris supposed to be celibate until Junior found a way to win her heart back?

Obviously, the Davises have some issues with the concept of loosing the controls and allowing their significant others the freedom to make their own decisions and to take responsibility for their own lives.

Let's put it this way--by the time Kris and Matt finally "discovered" that they had feelings for one another, Kris and Junior had already been on-again, off-again like five times already. Matt had shown absolutely no interest in dating Kris for two years, and had dated several other people super-seriously during the in-between time. In fact, the only reason why Matt 'lost her' in the first place was because he wouldn't stand up to his Mom and demand she allow him to date Kris. He never truly got over his unwillingness to directly confront the women in his life when they walked all over his rights.

Until he learned how to do that, he would never really deserve Kris. Yet wouldn't it have made a better, more interesting show if he HAD learned how to do that, rather than simply letting Kris get away from him for lack of the guts to fight? Wouldn't it have been nice if Matt had actually stood up to Junior, instead of letting Kris' overactive guilt complex compel him to make peace with a guy who was clearly willing to use his money and power to manipulate everyone around him into doing whatever Junior wanted them to do?

It would also have been real nice if everyone else would have acted like the adults they claimed to be instead of relying on Kris to be the grown-up for them. That was so much pressure I'm not surprised the poor girl cracked.

Deliberately marrying into Davis Farms is DEFINITELY an insanity warning sign.

Jean and Pablo finally getting together was nice, but frankly, that should have happened years before it did. By the time it happened, kinda like Luke and Lorelai of 'Gilmore Girls'...no one cared anymore.

We only have so much patience for the will-they-or-won't-they tug of commitment-phobes who are more afraid of humiliation than unhappiness.

In real life, people don't get married at 21 and they certainly don't consider themselves as having "lost" someone forever simply because someone else is dating that person at the moment. Sixteen-year-olds think that way.

I am a 50 year old male. I have been a decades long time fan of thoroughbred racing, so this show caught my eye on Netflix. I am also unemployed, so I pretty much pulled a full marathon over a couple of weeks.

First, I must say I absolutely loved the 'behind-the-scenes' look at the racing industry, from the owners, to the trainers, to the jockeys, to the vets, and even the unsavory characters. Absolutely magnificent and will recommend to any thoroughbred racing fan.

I am not a prude, but I do not understand how this series can be labeled a 'family show'. Sure, it is not an R rated production, but the behavior of some of the characters leaves much to be desired, especially when they are 'the heroes' of the show. I personally think love and lust gets confused here and they made it seem like it is OK to jump from bed to bed. I'll give them a little credit to show there are some consequences to that, but still...

    • Spoilers Start Here - I was happy with the ending. Nice guys do not always finish last.

It is interesting how the screen writers played with my emotions. The villains ended up being not so bad at all, while the heroine was selfish, manipulative, self-centered, egotistical and an overall trouble-maker. Well, things did work out as they should had at the very end, and I guess everyone learned their lesson.

It was a good series and even though I was not happy it was over, it did end with a satisfying conclusion.

It has that formerly known as ABC Family show, charm. And I love it. The series finale was a bit disappointing, and didn't give justice to the real love story. But I guess it's because it was planned as a normal season finale. The tagline reads « Dallas meets the O. C. », and that's pretty much the case. Only the real appeal of the show, is in the wonderful bound between a girl and her horse. And the drama aspect takes up too much screen time, which made me dislike some of the characters, including the heroine herself. It's not written without skills, but I thought it strayed too much from the family show aspect, that got me hooked in the first place, to really stand out. A four season run is reasonable, and apart from some seasons 2 and 3 storylines, I can't come up with one I didn't enjoy... It's nothing groundbreaking, but it has everything to keep you entertained, as well as guest appearances by more or less known actors, and good music too. It's worth a watch.
  • As a drama I might have given this 4 stars for a decent premise. Beyond the ever-consistent Greg Serano and Arye Gross (neither of whom receive the screen time they deserve), the disarming Andrew Hoeft (seriously...where has this kid gone??), the acting was mediocre at best and even the decent actors were often sabotaged by trite dialogue.

Moreover, as a show about horse racing (or even horses in general) it has to be the most poorly researched, horrendously filmed series I've ever seen. I could forgive a lot if the creators had bothered to put even the tiniest bit of effort into accurately portraying the equestrian world purportedly driving this show (certainly not the case in reality).

I made it halfway through the second season solely on the hope that it would improve but the blatant inconsistencies and implausible scenarios make it about unbearable.
  • My 14 year old horse loving daughter loves this show which means that the entire house has to watch.

I was pleasantly surprised at the quality of the writing and acting of some characters--notably Genevieve Cortese, Arye Gross, and the especially talented Nana Visitor. Sadly, all of the acting is not of that quality. Greg Serano as Pablo seems stiff and stoic in every scene.

Production quality could be stepped up a bit, but I suspect they're squeezing everything possible from the budget.

There have been a few scenes that might be too sexually charged or violent for young children, but the rating system works. Use it if you have young children watching television.

Maybe it's the horses; maybe the love stories....Kris and Junior and Kris and Wildfire (the horse). Whatever it is, this is the only show that I seem to watch beginning to end all seasons every couple of years.

Well my daughter told me to watch this on Amazon. She is 44 and I am 67. We both love horses, my daughters have them so anything with horses in I watch usually.

I was HOOKED first episode. Its a thrilling and exciting ride from the beginning. Episode 2 season 1, was breathtaking, the riding and stunts superb.

I loved this show from the start to the end. Interesting mix of storylines, love, mischief, spite, jealousy, you name it well its got it.

Oh and yes some horses will only respond to one person if they have been imprinted with them. My daughters is like that. (black with a star).

ANYONE can watch it this, and no its not about fires as some bright spark told me lol.

REALLY excellent, dont miss out on a great ride.

    What?!
    Warning: Spoilers
I liked it because Dennis Weaver was in it and Nana Visitor. I didn't know anyone else. A bit over the top with the same dribble, from the same teenage drama plot lines. But I like horses. The Cortese girl seemed fresh and new as a character. What's with teenagers being able to make adult decisions about horses and the business of running a stable. That was a stretch. Sports agent with the teenage jockey? Nope. It seems all these shows have to have a bar, that headlines a band, that actually exists, just so they can sell more albums. Who started that, Smallville or Charmed, or some other show? Probably further back. Wouldn't be surprised if it was WB. I'm actually watching to see when one of the ism's showed up. At least one has. Waiting for more. Pathetic to see it, but that's what we get with H'wood. I'm looking for how many shows that continually try to divide us. That's H'wood as well. The show could've done better had they drawn out the character development, stayed focused on Wildfire, Matt learning trainer skills from Pablo and Henry, and then see how the colt or filly foal from Belladonna turned out. Maybe they would've called it Bellafire. If "I" can guess the lines in the show, finish the sentence that is, yikes. There are too many negative storylines and not enough positives. I like the connection depicted in the main theme between girl and horse, and that she was rescued, and she rescues the horse. Anyway, I watch because it is theatrical history, which is history nonetheless. What made folks happy in their leisure time?

At 30 years old, I have seen many TV shows and I have become quite a critic. I discovered Wildfire only 2 weeks ago and truthfully I have become a addict since then. It is an amazing show, entertaining, with great characters and let's face it some very good actors. I also love the horses, Wildfire being of course my favorite. I love the relationships formed in the show and the chemistry between the characters. I especially love the message of the show: a girl, with problems in the past, changes because her love for one amazing horse - who is as problematic as she is - and gets a second chance in life to become a great jockey. And she really does a great job. It is all about the love for animals, for nature, how people can change if they have a second chance, and how people who are meant for each other finally end together. I was a fan of Kris and Junior and I loved how this characters practically grew up as individuals and as a couple. I cried at the end of the show when everybody ended up happy and I think the writers really did a great job with that final episode. I know it was just a TV show but it definitely made my life more beautiful while watching it. And I am definitely going to watch it again and that is why I recommend it to all categories of people, both young or adults. You have something to learn from this show and you will surely love it as I did.
  • This show is horrendously inaccurate. Yeah, the characters are engaging and interesting, and yeah the acting is decently okay. But the people who created this show know nothing about horse racing. For one thing, the first horse ridden by Kris at Raintree - Oklahoma Crude - is chestnut with a white blaze. In a later episode, the same horse makes an appearance but has no facial markings whatsoever. Kris herself is a fantastic representation of how inaccurate the show is - she is too tall and too heavy to feasibly become a jockey. She is not fat or overweight by any means, but jockeys are required to weigh around or less than one hundred pounds.

Wildfire too is a very inaccurate, poorly designed picture of a racehorse. He was sold to the Camp LaGrange program for losing too many races on the track, which would put his age at about three when he got there. To be as well reconditioned as a pleasure horse as he was in the show, he would have had to been at Camp LaGrange for at least a year. Which means that by the time Kris arrives, stays, and leaves with him he would be at least four years old, but most likely five or six. However, they mention multiple times in the show that he is a three-year-old, which is completely impossible because thoroughbreds don't start racing until they are two and he is supposed to have lost multiple races.

Raintree's racing silks are also exceptionally false. In the first race, Kris wore orange and yellow. In the second race, she wore solid yellow. In the third, she wore sky blue and in the fourth they were purple and white. Barns do not change their colors that easily. For a racing barn to change its silks it requires applying to the Jockey Club, and it is an expensive process. Because of the financial difficulties frequently mentioned by Raintree's owners, it is impossible for them to have changed their barn colors that many times in such a short period. It is also pointless.

Honestly, I enjoy the show but it is so ridiculous that it gets infuriating each time.

I love Wildfire and have since the first episode! Matter of fact I have only missed one episode, thanks to my husband not understanding the DVR and boy did he hear it when I went to watch it and it wasn't there!! Wildfire is a show that all ages can enjoy! I know teens that love the show, they watch it with their parents that are middle aged and then I even know several older couples that watch the show too! The horses are phenomenal. I love watching the racing! Of course I also love the drama of the show. I feel like the cast couldn't have been picked any better. I feel like if I drove far enough I could pull into Raintree to visit with the Ritter's! That is how real it is to the fans! Anyway, I can't imagine Wildfire ending so please unite fans!

    Warning: Spoilers
I was translating this show for Russian TV. I found it absolutely primitive.. Most of the actors are completely untalented. Seems they've never taken acting technique lessons. They can only stare showing their sorrow and smile foolishly showing joy. The characters are flat. Dialogs are silly and senseless. Tons of 'okay', 'hey', 'yeah' and other language rubbish. When there's nothing to say ( and this happens rather often) the characters just foolishly sigh. Lots of sentimental scenes. Script writers don't have even a grain of imagination! The producers have wasted their money. For people who don't care what to watch. For those who prefer to see color spots on the screen. Waste of time.
  • Rural setting? Family values? A girl and a horse? I am all in!

'Wildfire' ran for four seasons on the ABC Family network. Ostentatiously geared towards the teen angst audience, 'Wildfire' nonetheless has much more to offer. Insights into the world of competitive horse racing, and those who inhabit that world. There is more than enough here to hurdle viewers through the entire series. Gorgeous scenery. Magnificent horses. Strong values. And a competent cast.

Genevieve Cortese is the series lead. A tough city girl from the wrong side of the tracks, imprisoned for fairly minor crimes working toward her release as a prison laborer training horses for the city police force. It is there that she makes a connection with 'Wildfire', a horse in training for police civic duties. These first few episodes set a strong tone for the series, as the convict girl and the horse make a transcendent connection that will propel them both into a world far beyond what anyone could have imagined.

Cast wise, Nana Visitor provides a familiar face (she of Star Trek DS9 fame). But the acting accolades belong to Greg Serano as the horse trainer who sees something in Kris Furillo (the convict girl) and sponsors her into the world of horse racing. Nicole Tubiola is the the rich girl who was reared in that competitive world. Both of their performances throughout the series provide the foundation for all of the drama that ensues.

'Wildfire' is well worth the watch, assuming you can overlook the perpetually silly teenage drama employed by show runners seeking to ensnare those young demographics that network execs demand. Somehow, the show manages to exceed those network expectations, and delivers a satisfying family drama that will hold your interest throughout the run of the series.
  • Wildfire is the best show ever! I think that Kris is going to hook up with Junior... and probably Matt too. Matt is head over heals in love with Kris even though he has only known her for a few months. Every time he sees that Kris and Jr. might just might be hooking up you can see the jealousy in his face and I think he is going to keep falling harder and harder until he makes her realize that they were meant to be together. Dani on the other hand is going to keep getting more desperate for Matts attention and will keep fighting to get her man back! If I had to rate this show so far I would definitely give it 2 thumbs up!

It's something that everyone can relate to and there is something for everybody. I think that you can see yourself in at least one of the characters in our show.
