The Dragon Warrior has to clash against the savage Tai Lung as China's fate hangs in the balance. However, the Dragon Warrior mantle is supposedly mistaken to be bestowed upon an obese panda who is a novice in martial arts.
The chopstick fight between Po and Master Shifu is a reference to a similar scene in Fearless Hyena 3 (1980).
Legend tells of a legendary warrior whose kung fu skills were the stuff of legend.
(at around 21 mins) After Po accidentally breaks the Urn of Whispering Warriors, the pieces move around on the floor.
The DreamWorks logo is formed by a Chinese fisher-fox running across the screen, then making several ninja leaps in the air, finally landing on the moon, and pulling up the title; all done in Chinese-styled animation.
While originally only a 2D release during its 2008 theatrical run, Dreamworks Animation later produced a 3D version. This version was released on Blu-ray in 2011 to coincide with the home video release of Kung Fu Panda 2 (2011).
